Thread: Is it even worth it to make BE pets since this last publish??
RYHuman wrote:
Ok I have a friend (non -CH) who was wanting to Bantha as a mount. I post a question on the CH forums and spent a few days looking up pet info. Here is what I was told:
**the only pets that grow to machurity and CL10 is Dewbacks and Falumpasets (SO no Bantha for my friend:smileysad
**only a CH can help them get XP to get them up to that level
So..what is the point of a BE? My customer base just went from everyone in the galaxy to the 2 CH in my guild. If the CH wants anything they just go out and catch their own baby critter.
My question is this:
Is my information correct and can someone confirm it. Also, if this information is correct, is their any reason to even use this part of BE?? What is making pets good for besides just XP for jedi (I have 2 jedi already and don't need a third).
Thanks for any information you can add

Well for BE pets our info is right only dewback and falum will grow to mountable size so far. I know Lamm is working on a solution with the Dev's, now if or when they impelment it is another story. As for other pet crafting, I didn't get into BE to make money I did it for the fun. I make tons of pets still many I give to CH's I see in my travels other to dancers and entertainers for pets and house decor. anyone can still use a cl 10 pet the mount selection is just more limited now. I dont know how many cl 10 pets I have sold or just given away to new players to help them along while starting out.
Now if your in thios proffesion just for the money I would only due custom pets when asked and stick to tissues and stims (but ppersonalyI find that very boring).
Short Answer: YES
I don't know about anyone else, but my pet sales have been though the roof. I still get the requests for mounts which i sadly have to give them the bad news, but half the time, they're just looking for a cool critter buddy and I can make them something anyway. If you can't see more than just the Jedi need for critters you're not looking hard enough. Since the CH changesthey want a good pet they can stick their new found abilties on. Our petsstilloffer better stats than the wild tamed.I don't recall the threadI saw it on, or the person who said it, ( forgive me ) butits like cars. They go get the parts, and we sell them aferrarito put them on.They "tinker under the hood" and it makes them even better.I say you should stick it out, since crafting anything else alsobores me to tears.
Therecan bemuch more variability in BE pets than in wild ones allowing BE pets to be more easily tailored to your particular needs. You can then add abilities of your choice tothat BE pet, further tailoring it to your personal needs and desires. If a BE is having problems selling pets to CHs, maybe he should try making better pets. Lots of BEs can make better pets than what you can tame in the wild. Apparently, lots can't too.

The knowlegeable CHs all know that BE pets are inferior to wild pets, ultimately, just like wild pets were inferior to BE before the CU. The reason for that is that BE pets come with a "blank slate" of specials, while wild pets come with innate abilities that, while they do take up an ability slot, do not require prerequisites for L2 or L3 specials.
That is, you could train a BE pet with Self Sacrifice L1, 2, and 3, and take up 3 slots, or just go out and tame a wild pet with Self Sacrifice L3 (and technically, if you could train it, you have a pet that has it already) and reserve those 2 other slots for something more useful and less redundant.

It is my understanding thattheDifferent levels of an abilitySTACK. Meaning that they don't take up separate "slots". ThoughI'm not going to call it gospel ( still need some CH's to confirm this for me ).Even it's notas I think,I knowin my experience,BE'd Petshit about twice as fast,at least marginallyharder, and Regen/maintain health better, not to mention they have more of it to begin With.
BE pets are NOT Inferior.

Couple of points:
Althorian ... welcome to the world of ' I have now been stung by Jekk and I want to die and crawl under a rock '. As a new forum poster I was there on my very first post and I especially loved the one he sent when I wanted to apply for Lammie's job as correspondant. It was particularly humiliating and caused me to withdraw my application. Doesn't matter as we have a great correspondant and I wouldn't have gotten it anyway (I was a bit new on the forums then) but it did hurt.
Jekk was a great BE in his time from reports. I'm happy he is back and taking an interest in BE again. However, Jekk ... you have forgotten to factor in something about new pet crafting.
Any good BE no longer takes 2-3 days to make a pet in the skin and level a CH wants and they should not be charging an arm and a leg either. Because our craft has become simplified, there are any number of animals you can sample from to get the right level - also we now have the BE tool or at least the level calculations to aid us if we don't use the tool so a lot less DNA gets wasted and you really can just work up a recipe in a matter of days - not a week or month like before. High health takes even less time b/c we have the elites...
Althorian - a wild pet that is tamed with a level 3 special really does mean that you have gotten three 'free' slots. Level 3 abilities need to have the level 2 and the level 1 ability of that type trained into them and each uses up a slot.
Jekk - there aren't that many level 70 tamables out there - every master CH wants at least one 70 and they are easy to make now and recipes are freely distributed on the BE forum so all should be able to make them now. And BE animals DO fight faster and they DO have less slots for specials but they take no TIME to find and tame ...
They'll also want a level 60 and a 50 to enable them to work up a friend's level 10 (or two) for 'free' while they are fighting with their main critter.
BE pets can be crafted with higher health and/or higher damage according to what the CH wants in the skin they want it and to the exact level they want it as well. Bigger or smaller than they want it tho - but that's a drawback we have to live with for now.
Wild pets are 'free' if you have time to hunt and tame them - but the one that you get that is in the right skin and level - might have the wrong special !!!
I see arguments both ways for the advantages of BE pets vs. wild and there is one thing I DO know...
We get NOWHERE by insulting people and making them feel bad about having their own opinions about things. I know I tend to be a bit bossy on this subject but I cannot stand needless bickering and I don't like good people having their feelings hurt. Also Jekk, you probably don't know it, but phrasing things in an aggressive manner to people who have not PERSONALLY attacked you, really just cuts down your credibiity. People aren't going to know youwere a great BE pre-CU... they just see you as hostile and perhaps unhappy.
I'm sorry if I made you feel bad and I know you are a good person with a lot of knowledge to share and I also know it isn't my job to 'moderate' the forums but as a human being i thought maybe i should say something for the good of everyone before this turns into a flame war.

This is quite frankly, the opposite of the truth.
In my opinion, there isn't one wild pet that can compete with the usefulness of a good BE pet.
I've got a BE CL35 pet that will outdamage ANY wild pet. Even if you gave wild pets marring storm 3 to increase the damage as much as possible, they just can't get near what a BE pet can do.
What about a CL35 pet with 8000+ base health? No wild pet can approach that at any level.
If a CH wants a pet that can deal a lot of damage, the ONLY option is a BE pet.
If a CH wants a pet that can take a lot of damage, the ONLY option is a BE pet.
If a CH wants a pet that can't dish out OR take a lot of damage but can have an extra training slot, there's plenty of wild options.

First off... I apologize, it is unlike me to act this way. I should not have sunk to such a level.I'm usually fairly even tempered...bad day I guess. Sorry Jekk...
I may have been stung, but I don't want to crawl under arock. I don't know if it's fearlessness, or stupidity
that makes me keep trying. But thankyou none the less Dor, You are one of the great BE's I admire, and appreciate the extinguishing of my "flame" I do agree with you. It's unfair for us to compare apples and oranges, they have different advantages and that's that. One is not necessarily inferior to the other. Its mostly just matter of opinion which of those advantages ones likes better, which no one can control, nor should try to change or force upon anyone (like i said, very out of my character). But, I still like BE pets better, what kind of BE would I beif i didn't.
