Thread: IMPORTANT Question concerning new non ch pets being made and sold with 6 to 9k health

Ok, I have gone back and forth on this one in my own head, hee.

But when it comes down to it, if I can use the system as intended (getting DNA and making a critter is as intended, right? They let you sample your own pets, its in the radial menu, right?) to create seemingly overpowered pets, its not my fault.

I can make a 6k/3k/2k HAM pet as a first generation (did it a couple days ago, it is growing in my DP and will be a gift to someone), how on gods green earth can that possibly be an exploit? That is like saying using a pistol when fighting pikets is an exploit. It makes no sense. Now, if my pistol hits harder and faster and more accurately than it should be, that is not an exploit, that is imbalance. Note the referance to an ACTUAL issue, and a following pistoleer nerf, nobody ever got banned for shooting a piket. This is the same thing.

And, the devs already fixed the system, and haven't spoken out against these new pets which have been craftable for about two months now. So, I think these pets are legit, and if they aren't they will become invalid. There is already a system in place.

I do think it is stupid that we are actually able to make a pet that is invalid, but that is another issue.

Don't be yelling at the players here. If you don't like the new setup, yell at the people who DESIGNED it and SOLD it to you, not the people who are using it as was apparently intended.

Now, the 6k HAM non-ch pets -generally- have very poor resists and very poor damage. There are exceptions but this is the general rule. You also don't need to use multiple generations to get them.

Now, the 9k HAM non-ch pets need to be looked at in my opinion. If these are valid pets it is too much and hurts our friends the CH (the last nerfs were nuts, but at least now I can make them a pet that almost replaces their grauls and maulers, but that last 15% resist makes a world of difference).

But I'm still gonna make one as a display pet.

As I already stated, read the post you pointed us at again. You are in danger. Anyone who creates and sells a pet (ok, except obviously underpowered useless pets like CL8 Gnorts 700/500/550 no resists) is at risk. You most likely have sold them and will have unhappy customers.

The answer is to get clear definitions of how it is supposed to work, once and for all.

"...and will be addressed at some point in the future. Currently "legal" pets will remain in the system until this bug is fixed."

/sigh

But again i didnt hear any official response what is illegal and what not.

There is only one end authority on what's right and what's wrong in this game and that's the development team. Any player who says it's not ok to make an item that falls within the mechanics of the game ESPECIALLY after the developers have claimed to have fixed the problem is completely unfounded. If the developers want to boot me from the game for "exploiting" then so be it, because I simply refuse to play a game that is nothing more then a virtual entrapment factory. If something is invalid then either lay down the rules or make it impossible in the game code, because I am sick of guessing. In the mean time I will assume that everything creatable is legal. If I get booted for "exploiting" then so be it, I simply refuse to be part of a virtual which entraps it's users into exploiting.

Aaah, much calmer now after sleeping off the sting of losing a full backpack of dna it took hours to gather to a housing bug. I do feel that it's very wrong for non-ch's to have 9k ham 60% kinetic pets. I'm going to keep making them, though, to bring more attention to them. Eventually more than just BE's will be complaining about them again. However, I don't see anything wrong with 6k ham pets with 10-20 kinetic, they still don't last too long against much of anything. I can't see 3k ham pets being much use or desirable to anyone except to people that just want a novelty pet. And I really want the things I make to be useful to people. And in response to Voke, the point of comparing gen sampling to krayt tissues is not to compare crafted pets to wild mobs. That's like comparing a weaponsmiths creations to looted weapons (heh, of course there's good, rare looted items and no longer any good, rare wild pets). The point is it's what we can use to make pets better than the usual crafted pets.

My understanding of the argument you were making in your first post in this thread was instead of Krayt tissue, Bile, etc etc we BEs have multi gen sampling.

What I was trying to get across was:

  • Multi gen sampling seems to be intended to help lower stats/res to lower CL to thus customize pets. I dont think it was intended to create super duper pets at any given CL level.

  • Based on the above I don't think our multi-gen sampling ability should be compared to WS krayt tissue and other looted tissue mods for crafters.

As I already stated we BEs already create much better "weapons" (though I disagree with that analogy) then what CH and non-CH can otherwise obtain in the wildin first gen creations. I think multi-gen sampling should keep with the CL rules of first gen yet allow us to manipulate stats and res.

CH was nerf in Decemeber because SOE wanted to re-balance combat. Part of that was reducing the CL level non-ch could use from CL15 to CL10. We went from having armored Rock Beetles to 900ham pets with NO RES.

That was an intended change. Going from 900ham to 3k ham is a huge INCREASE and while it may NOT be the most useful pet in the world it isnt suppose to be bud!!!! CH are the only ones who should have useful pets. However, I 100% disagree with you saying the only thing a 3k ham pet is good for is a "novelty pet". 3k ham pets with 5-15% res in kinetic works great for newbies or new characters who want a little help againt low end mobs.. Again, this seems to be what SOE intended.

Ok, I havn't made any of these "overpowered" pets, and I don't intend too. Its an obvious exploit and the devs will soon revamp the hell out of Bio Engineer due to the vast popularity of this onthe forums. I'm just a little curious if the Devs have this situation under control, because we had a patch like a month or so ago attempting a fix on "overpowered" NON CH creatures.. *Sigh*
