Thread: experimenting
I may be wrong, but I think it gives you 1 experiment point. Atleast, that's been my experience with it. Your results may vary.

ok maybe im doing something worng, and maybe someone can help me.
I have been crafting stim B-, all of them, and experimenting. when making biological controllers, i experimented with charges, sometimes getting 3 charges. But when I go to use it to make a stimpacks. It doesnt give me any more charges.
what am i missing here?

Experimentation on subassemblies does affect the final part.
For example, I created two Stim - C packs, one with experimentation on the subassemblies, one without. The one without came out (just after assembly, prior to emperimentation) to 179 hp. The stimpack using the experimented on subassemblies came out to be 222. At first, this doesn't look like much, but when you start experimenting on the final part, the finished stim pack could haveefficacy values at265 ptsand 350 pts.
For the most part, I wouldn't say experimenting on the detail partsis that important. When I first started crafting, I experimented with everything just to get the highest effect - now, I tend to do that only with the final item. Once you have diagnosys 4, you can heal fast enough that you really won't need the extra points.
For wound packs, however, I do still experiment, though when I get to treatment speed 3 or 4, I may stop as well.
But once I figure out how factories work, that won't be too much of a problem.
Subcomponents do matter.. but when youre crafting by hand, I would say don't experiment on the subcomponents unless you have too. Its a pain in the butt trying to experiment with every single piece. When I am making up a batch of c's by hand, I just craft each subcomponent real fast away from a f/c station. Then when im ready to put them altogether, I run back to the f/c station and experiment on the final stim.
Once I get my factory tho.. im gonna be experimenting on all subcomponents to make schematics and making some really awsome med packs.
I'm a swordsman by trade and have recently taken up scouting. I am able to craft some things and was wondering if anyone could give me a run down of what Experimenting is and how to use it when crafting things, for instance a stimpak, what screen experimenting shows up on, etc....
thanks for the help

You need to stand in front of an appropriate crafting station and use the appropriate crafting tool. When you use the tool normally you get another option screen that one of the selections is experiment.
For example. for a stimpack you use a Food and Chemical Crafting tool while standing in front of a Food and Chemical crafting station.
Use the tool as normal, and when it is done you wil get the option to craft prototype (make the item) Make A schematic (for factories) or Experiment.
Once experimenting you have a certain amount if experiumenting point to put toward the various parts of the item. Run experiments till you have no more points. It is possible to make an item worse this way if you fail.
Make sure not to assign Experimentation points to more than 1 category prior to hitting "Run Experiment". It will only calculate the Experimentation for one of the categories, and eat your Exp. points for the others.
i.e. If working with a weapon, don't put 1 point into Damage, and 1 point into Efficiency then hit "Run Experiment". It will only experiment on Damage, and eat your other point. Instead, place 1 point into Damage, hit "Run Experiment", and after that's done, put 1 point into Efficiency, and do Run Experiment again.
I know its probably EXTREMELY simple and im gonna look like the biggest n00b but...
Whenever I try to craft, I go through steps 1, 2, and 3 then when I click next I go directly to step 6. This is annoying and I want to experiment! Can anyone help me? ![]()
Can anyone either give or direct me to someone or something that can give me some guidance on experimentation on weapons..like knowing what rsources to use ....etc. For example putting all your skill points on damage..do you put them all in a tonce or do you put in 1 or 2 then exp..the put in a couple more and exp blah blah.. Weaponsmiths hook me up!
Thank you
I am on my way to be a tailor and tried to craft with astatic crafting machine. I was wondering what the experimentaion gets you, are ther any benifits, and what is the purpose. Although i think it has been removed with the last patch.
Thx for the help
