Thread: Frank talk about pet pricing...asking for input from people in the business for over 1 month
By your definition, a fortune 500 company which shows an annual profit ofone US dollar is a 'good' business. I don't think you will find many clammoring to buy stock in such a 'good' business.
This is a game, who gives cares if you make1 credit or 1 million credits profit per sale. Ultimately it boils down to this.. do pay for someone else monthly subscription fee? Then stop telling them how to play and let them do what they want without saying they should do it your way cause the way they are doing it is 'a joke'

Maybe if you stopped calling it a guide people would stop bashing it. Many people see the word guide and thing it's a rulebook, a better term might be suggestions for pricing.
GUIDE
definition.
1. One who shows the way by leading, directing, or advising.
2. One who serves as a model for others, as in a course of conduct.
This is simply a guide and if you read my page at the top you will see;
This page is a personal BioEngineer creature price guide. This guide is only recommended and actual prices will depend on the fiscal situation of your server and your charactor.
I don't see the word RULEBOOK so I'm not changing anything and you can stop being a GRIEFER
GRIEFER
definition.
1. A griefer is a player bent on purposely frustrating others during a multiplayer game.
while you are perusing the dictionary might try looking up the words useful andaccurate and then try to apply them to the website. as it stands you might find the best description of swgbionegineer.com under the defition of misinformation.

Where do you see Misinformation? Please! Tell me! gawd all you do is talk.... a website is a community ... it dies when people stop contributing, either by visiting or feedback!
YOUR JUST A GRIEFER!
well if knowing that medium armor was removed from gurrecks makes me a griefer then yes i am. or that anglers have ranged mild poison. or that bolmas cl is now 19. and that your information is incomplete leaving out the defensiveresists of every single creature. you are the one pushing to replace a working and well done website with a site where you cant even bother to put up accurate information.
you obviously do not having athorough knowledge of the bioengineer petsyet you pulish yourrecommendations fora pricing guide and wonder why people laugh at it - at least you can conveniently dismiss them all as griefers considering it is much easier than putting the effort in to do it properly in the first place.
1.) I Generally only make pet furniture for my guildmates. I might charge 5k or something just for the effort if they order a bunch of them, but more than likely they'll be free.
2.) The only pets i've been asked for at all really are the gurreck and rancor. I've made a few kahmurras for the nonCH in my guild but that's it.
3.) I don't markup mounts. I generally charge 5k for one. I have had a MCH inquire about bulk ordering a backpack full of kaadus or somesuch. probably 3k bulk rate if he/she was serious.
4.) I sell Rancors anywhere from 30k to 50k. Most i sell are 35k or 40k, but i have turned out the occasional exceptional rancor for 50k....as well as the sort-of-crappy-but-not-worth-tossing-out Rancor for 30k
I use basically the same range for the Gurrecks, maybe a 5k fluctuation.
I don't use any fancy equation to figure my prices. I just think about what i put in. I might mark down what i spent for the resources and just keep a vague mental catelog of the time i spent. As well as look at what other BEs are selling their product at. From what I have seen and heard from a few customers I am one of the more competitively(is this a word?)priced MBEs on Starsider.

1. Have had very few people wanting furniture animals (other than the bugged ones), for the few I've done I charged half of what I would if using good dna, meat and flora.
2. Start at 1700c for the < 1k ham pets, up to 8500 for bolmas. Don't have a formula, just picked out prices that felt about right to me.
3. Haven't made any mounts since the news was spilled as to which creatures were going to be mounts.
4. Gurrecks are 10-12k, depending on how good I make them, rancors are 17-18.5k.
5. Master CH here, I train any pet brought to me for free.
6. All bugged pets I sell for 2500, except fambaas and kimos, they go for 10k.
Guess I should put all that past tense as I'm cancelling this week, but fwiw...
I like the 5k for furniture, flat fee.
I am moving towards a HAMx2 pricing scheme. This is for a few reasons (1) HAM goes up with CL, and higher CL means you need higher level DNA, which has a lower yield and greater loss/risk, (2) HAM is an engineered stat and at a crude level a measure of how well you did on the crafting attempt. The base purpose of a pet is tanking, and its ability to absorb damage is prime...damage dealing of your pet helps, but honestly you will outdamage your pet by a lot with weapons which target vulnerabilities and bleeds and specials which go after a pool. I would think an ideal scheme would have its price track say 70% of the HAM stat and 30% of the damage stat, but the formula would be cumbersome and slow. Also, (3) it seems as if this scheme tends to yield pricing numbers consistant with the community with the exception of
- lvl 50 creatures, which should have a DNA surcharge of 5k a sample (15K)
-mounts which are highly speculative commodities at the moment
-big bugged pets that may be worth something later
-I like the free training on pets bought at my shop, but 500c a command otherwise. Sure they can find someone cheaper, and great if they do.
I apologize for the flame war my comments about the price guide at SWGBE.com. I selected the word joke because a guide that didn't know how he got the equation seemed like a joke to me. I suppose normally something like this would be beneath the radar, but because the SWGBE.com site is rammed up our faces on this board with constant self promotion, and there are other as informative sites out there such as SInnyls that don't spam themselves all over this board in self promotion, that this tends to make SWGBE. com a target of ire. I am disappointed that rather than attempt to improve your guide, you guys are just wallowing in flaming.
Thanks to all for your input and thoughtful discussion.
I can't make Kimo's, but I charge 3K for a furniture pet, if you can find me, and talk me into making one.
I charge 3K for a "yardtrash" DNA Kahmurra, or other non CH pet, named and trained, and handed to you... This again comes under the category if you can find me and talk me into it.
For Pet Stims (where the real money is) I charge on a formula, currently it's Charges * Heal Amount * .2 = Price. This formula will vary depending on what I see others charging, but all I will do is raise/lower the number after the decimal. I can sell as many as I wish at this price, so I don't see me dropping it any time soon.
Tissue's, I don't actually bother with, other than making some for friends.
Pet's, that are not the "junk" variety, but actual CH pets, I tend to charge depending on how much work it takes me (or I expect it too) and I value my time HIGHLY. While I can make Gurrecks, I won't currently, since I don't feel my product would be as good as a masters, so I don't sell these.
My pricing, won't make much sense to most of you, but I'm not just a BE. I also sell everything from Fusion Generators, Large Houses, Advanced Probots (with every option), Pet Stims, Crafting Stations, pretty much everything but Clothes/Weapons/Armor, and yes I do craft all of it. My bottom line on selling, is I want to sell something that is either a high profit margin item, or sell's for a high cash price, even with a small margin on it, all of which factors my time in the equasion. I can crank up a custom Advanced Probot, in minutes. If I haven't run myself out of identical factory parts, I can do the same on Arch items. Pet stims also spit out of the factory, without taking up my time, so I'd much rather sell any of the things I just mentioned, over Pet's, since creating a good pet means a long hike on a dangerous planet, and few people want to pay me what I think that is worth.
