Thread: TC patch bug/issue/problem/likes thread Oct. 21, 2003
I think the system they have in place for mountable pets is fine. And from my knowledge, BEs can make all mounts. However doesn't the creature have to be an adult before it's mountable? I could have sworn someone from TC said that (or maybe the Devs?). If that's the case, CHs will not be buying these pets, or at least the ones who are informed. Why? Because most CHs don't have the space in their datapad to hold a creature until it's full grown. Therefore CHs and Non-CHs alike will be buying the creatures themselves and waiting a few days to a week before the creature is mountable. At that point it would involve the MCH.
My issue regards tissues, and the current list of non-tameable pets made by BEs.
- Allow all pets to be tameable, except the Kimogila. Just take it out already, they're never going to let MCHs tame this creature, it's just too powerful. If they were so afraid of AR2 pets, and took away those, you think they're going to make Kimos tameable? I think not.
- Milk and seafood (fish, mollusks, etc.). There has got to be a better way. A farm for milk, a fishing "boat" or fish harvestor (see "Star Wars Gallactic Battlegrounds", they do that there) will do. Something, anything, please!
- They need to revamp how tailors use tissues. Any tissue should be useable in either a synthetic cloth or reinforced fiber panel. There shouldn't be a restriction. Why? Because most tissues go in reinforced fiber panels and there are few clothes that use this!
- Also regarding tissues, the bonuses need to be stackable, at least to a "cap". Currently many articles of clothing call for cloths or panels from a crate. Well to make that you need to make a crate of the tissue to use, then a crate of the panels and/or cloths if you want to use a tissue on that article of clothing. After the identical panels and/or cloths are applied, you only get credit for one tissue, making the other tissues a waste.
I am under the impression (albeit maybe a false one) that so far the only creatures that can be tamed as mounts are ones that are fully grown.
An easy thing to do would be to treat BE pet deeds as grown animals, this would allow the MCH to buy from us and tame as mount right away. Instead of waiting for it to grow up.
This would give BE creatures a huge benifit (time saving), and those who really want the more powerful mounts can just wait the week or so until their creature is fully grown.
My biggest complaint is that most of the best mounts (such as giant carrion spat) are not craftable by BE. I picked BE, because I wanted to make better creatures than those found by the side of the road, and once again, I'm discovering that the opposite is true. Please fix this!

I am pretty new at this BE and CH thing, but I've been reading up on it on a lot of different websites and chat boards. I just got Tissue Engineering II in BE, and the strongest critters I can make are bugged, i discover. So I went to swgbioengineer.com and discovered that the majority our most powerful critters, and basically every potential mount we can make, is bugged. When I first got involved in BE, I was expecting something a lot cooler, like that I could take an existing critter into the lab and enhance it in some way. And harvesting DNA sucks. At my low level, it takes a lot of HAM and time, and I'm only successful maybe 40% of the time, and then I get generally below average DNA. So I take my below average DNA and I make retarded kaadus. Fun.
As for the mounts issue, I never expected to be able to train mounts as a BE. Training and Taming is not what the BE does, and that's why I'm also a CH. However, if they didn't have the engineering and experimentation bugged, the advantage that the BE would have over the CH is that we would be able to build a better, say, Dewback, then anything the CH could capture in the field. This is why I became a BE, so I could craft genetically superior pets, but all the best pets are bugged and the experimentation is bugged, and all I get is crappy DNA. And the pet stims are basically worthless because I can heal my pet just as well with a Stim B, and trick1 will take care of his blue HAM.
BE has the potential to be a really great profession if they would put more thought into it. Like we should be able to create some kind of special packs that would enhance people’s pool points or stats, either temporarily or permanently. As I said, I am new to this profession, and slowly but surely all my initial excitement is starting to wane.

Just so you all know, Bols are tamable now. I have made 5 or so and sold them to CHs who are the only ones who can use them anyways. But they were tamed and trained and seem to be working.
Bols are CL30, have 35% resists to Kinetic, Restraint, Heat, Cold and Acid. Their Special attack is Knockdown.
There is a window that appears when you first tame then call a creature that asks if you wish to start mount growth. I have no idea what this is suppose to do. Someone else got a message from a Kaadu they had just tamed that it's growth needed to be stopped or it would grow to big to be used as a mount. No idea what is meant here either. The mount still seems to grow. It doesn't grow any faster or slower with either option.
The MCH on TC say that the actual command to train a mount doesn't appear until the creature is mature. The idea that it can be done when it is 60% of mature stats is going around but there has been no solid evidence to back it up.
DNA Template experimentation and other forms of experimentation seem to have been tweaked. I use a single experimentation point on say Physique and on a Great Success I get a 1% increase. I use up all 10 experimentation points on the Template and get less than 10% added to it. I don't even bother to experiement right now except to see if it was fixed in the latest hotfix.
I made a run of Tensile Resistance Tissues for Kathlean, our Tailor Correspondant, and Experimentation seems to work fine here giving the % increases I was used to seeing. One question I have is that Stun defense increased to +12 as I kind of expected from the resources I used but Melee Defense only went to +3. Is this normal for this Tissue to give less of a bonus to Melee Defense? The other dual tissues I've made had both bonuses increase at about the same rate with a difference of +1 at most.
One last discussion about the mounts. A lot of MCHs are going out into the wild to get their mounts. But there just is no way to cover the demand. The best situation is for people to get their mountable creature and start growing it. Then when it's mature find the MCH to make it a mount. This has opened the market up a bit for the Kaadu and Carrion Spat. At the moment everyone seems to be getting a piece of the market.
To any Test Center BE...
If you are making mounts, have you had feedback as to what stats are important in a mount? Is Action more desired then Health? Do you find players getting off the mount and using them in combat (thus making Damage a little more important)? Any thoughts on the abilties between the Kaadu vs Spat? Speed, endurance, whatever. Are any of the mounts designed for certain situations such as mountain climbing or whatever? Can you be on a mount and "swim?" I mean water could be an obstacle that one might have to consider, especially in Moenia, Naboo. Thanks in advance for any info...
on the Tensile tissues. the melee def will rarely get to even 5. I've had 16-17stundef/meleedef4...don't think i've ever seen a +5 to meleedef on those, but it might be possible.

Thanks for the info on the Tensile Resistance.
Stats on mounts. I really don't know. They are just now starting to make general release as the ones we tamed are finally growing up. The information is they need to be around 60-70% grown before you can use them as mounts.
Another basic problem has been crashing to desktop as soon as you hit a server boundary. They also get stuck there if you don't CTD. I've seen people using their mounts as pets. This may be the best option for non-CHs since you can only have one pet out at a time and 2 in your datapad.
Kaadu and Carrion Spats are the fastest, beyond that the only other comment I've heard is that the Bols are the best looking.
The only example of someone swimming on a mount was a CTD upon changing to swimming posture.
The bugs are hindering these answers a bit. But hopefully with more in circulation and fixes we can get better information.

Does anybody else see this as a big problem? I do. I have a hard enough time making creature saleable enough. Sure I can make dewback much better then a dewback found in the wild. But there are mountain dewbacks, etc... in the wild that I can't make and are better than my "good" dewbacks.
If I can't continue to add the increases to the Rancor/Gurreck to be better then the wild ones then I just don't see how I will be able to sell any (and I have to work very hard just to do that). This is because the only people that can use them can get them for free.
