Thread: TC patch bug/issue/problem/likes thread Oct. 21, 2003
Just so you know, you dev. does indeed read your board... your voices are heard.
Keep it clean

Worst case you can discuss mounts.
Can you make all of the current mount choices? Only some of them?
I'm not a BE, lol it is one of the 5-6 things I haven't gotten to play at all yet

On the contrary Loomis, there is something in test that directly effects us.... the new insurance plan on incaps. If what Traigus says is true, then our dev knows that it will effect us greatly in sampling. If this goes through, it will force most BE to do sampling runs naked and defensless. Even though I am one of the few who doesn't wear armor, or buffed clothes, I too would be at a loss if this goes through. I can see item decay on death sure, but on incap? so what happens? we fall and hit the ground and our entire inventory takes a decay % hit? that's crazy. I don't have a problem with insurance in case of death. I remember well the days of the corpse run, but for incap??? I do hope this is addressed to the dev team from a BE's prospective. I understand it's an issue that will effect all players but still, our voice needs to be heard. And many thanks toTraigus for making the effort to keep our spirits up. ![]()

And as far as mounts, IMHO I don't think we really have the right to cry about not being able to make them. There is nothing biological about a saddle. It's a piece of leather. If you notice, even the MCH that teach the creature the mount command, only gives the creature a piece of leather and a strap as a saddle. Basic bare bones stuff. For anything more detailed, I honestly believe it should go to the tailors. And mount armor to the Armorsmiths.
And then all of those people who used to cry about a novice BE not being able to make money, are now crying that the novice BE will be making money because they can sell low level non-CH mounts. Make up your minds people. You either want the whole profession to be balanced, or you want it balanced to suit you're needs at the time. can't have it both ways.
The only other question as far as TC goes is, even if the clonefix doesn't get pushed with the next patch, we would like to know:
1.) will we be losing any schematics? i.e. the the broken ones
2.) when will we be getting xp for our factory created items, and if not, who do we set on fire to get that done?
3.) can we get some patch notes on the ninja nurfs that are as of yet "undiscovered" on test
that's all I can think of for right now.

RE: Mounts
BioEngineering can play an important role to improve the mount trade as it is currently implemented. Here are two issues I see:
- MCH get overwhelmed with requests, and their ability to tame/train/trade is limited by their available datapad space. Most TC MCH are already not taking requests for mounts. A similar situation will be created when this system goes on Live
- There are only two types of mounts that non-CH can use: Kaadu & Carrion Spat. This is quite limited.
- Any dabbler in the BE profession will create one of the fastest mounts: Kaadu. This is less of a priority, but it is a divisive issue for the community creating confrontation between Novice vs Advanced BE (kind of what the 'Transfer' command did for CH)
Here are my suggestions:
- Allow MCH to 'mountify' a creature deed (e.g. a bio-engineered creature on the datapad). This doesn't take anything from their abilities, but provides much needed flexibility to make the creatures tradeable via vendors/bazaar. This reduces the amount of time the MCH needs to invest, as they can sell these 'mountifyed deeds' to other CH to train for non-CH, or even for a Bio-Engineer to work out a deal with a MCH to have his/her creatures ready to be mounts when tamed by customers.
- In my opinion it is a mistake to push the mount changes without the already announced Bio-EngineerCloning changes simultaneously. Not even all the changes would need to be pushed (e.g. customizing colors, gazillion schematics, etc), but at the very least give BE a way to control the level of the creatures during the crafting process. With these changes, a BE with good experimentation should be able to make a CL15 Dewback or Falumpaset and add more variety
- The least divisive way to do this would be to tie mount speed to some experimentable attribute (maybe tie it to the mysterious 'phsycological profile' attribute). That way it becomes comparable to other crafting professions: if you only train novice you are able to craft the items, but they won't be the best ones.
Just my .02cr
PS: If there are bio-engineers in Test Center, it would be interesting to hear from you on any changes that may be part of this patch (e.g. is there XP/usage XP for factory-created items?)
EDIT (arrgh):
The first sentence on my first suggestion should read:
Allow MCH to 'mountify' a creature deed (e.g. a bio-engineered creature on the inventory)
Just looking for a reason for anyone to buy a mount from a BE rather than a CH. Can we make them speedier? I don't think so. At this point any novice CH can collect the fastest mount available. So we can assume that the demand for mounts will be filled just as rapidly as MCH's can mountify them. And there are a kazillion Novice CH's for our Master BE's to compete with. Still looking for a reason for BE to exist, besides making pet stims for CH's, and Tissues for tailors to sell to CH's.
Factories give BE's zero exp. Is this a bug, or a feature? Other classes get it.
I do not get factory xp for archi stuff (which HURT because that's a LOT of lost xp..i mean a LOT LOT LOT LOT LOT) nor artisan stuff in my general. The factory bug is just a bug, it's not limited to BE's, though I don't know *who* is getting it, if anyone.
I just don't know about this profession (BE). I had almost mastered it before but gave it up because i was tired of waiting for fixes. Then when they announced that they were starting the fixes, i made my alt a BE. The only thing i've trained in is DNA sampling, though I have more than enough xp to train a first tier box. It is so disheartening to watch patch after patch go by and for most things to just get more difficult and not better for us.
I have no doubt that the fixes will one day come..but where do you draw the line on waiting? I mean, i'm sitting here cooling my heels for what...4 months?..not doing what I really want to do in this game...shrug...
If a CONCRETE mention of cloning and BE fixes does not appear in 3-4 wks, i'm done with this profession. It's such a shame..I think it's THE most awesome profession (in theory). I think I will end up with an FS slot before BE's get fixed...and wouldn't it be a HOOT it the holocron told my main that she had to master BE? OHMIGOSH...i can just see it now.
Something you guys are missing about mounts is
1: MCH is required (perhaps Emp4, can't get a clear answer) to train a mount.
2: Contrary to popular belief, there are not that many MCHs per server, just tons of dabblers.
3: Taming/training a mount from the wild is a time consuming task. average maybe 1/hr per pet
4: very limited storage ability in datapad to keep the kind of inventory needed to supply demand
So, what is the smart MCH gonna do? He's gonna keep one datapad slot open to train mounts. He is then gonna buy tons of pet deeds( i believe we can make all 6, though i would have to check), which can be kept in inventory till needed in VERY large amounts.
Customer request mount. tame deed. train pet. transfer pet. rinse, repeat.
