Thread: Kimo Boycott a.k.a What is the best pet you can make for me?
I put a really really bad kimo on my vendor for an outrageous amount of credits. My reason is I hope they look at that and see it's not very good compared to the other pets I have of similar level.
I too am not taking any orders, except I am trying to duplicate one pet (pretty sure I can), and lots of people want it. Usually I just say sorry and give them the cords to my vendor.
Pasey, you are not alone. I have to put on my AFK sign whenever Im in game just so I will ahve time to work on orders, otherwise its a continual interruption. Im currently booked on making my pets though this week, but Ive decided after I fill the orders I have, I'll just make creatures and put them on hte Radiant board in an auction. Its funny though because my afk response specifically says if you are want me to make you a pet please e-mail me with the specifics, yet no one does hehe.
Now that I'm in a better mood, I have had some awesome customers and people who know exactly what they want. They took the time to read about the changes and have emailed me a list of what they want, and know things can't be exact. Some people say right off that they know things have changed and ask really intelligent questions.
hehe master bio tag= tell hell soultion afk is a wonerfull thing put in it a messages statiing to email the order about the time frame it take to do any such order explaine what you can or cant do and waypoint to your vendor i find i get way better results that way and i can sreen the tell i want to recive
I dunno, I've been a supporter of BEs since I started this game, hoping they would get some business for all their hard-earned levelling. It's a shame to see all the complaining about the NEW business that's heading your way. I'd have hoped you would be pleased.
I have to say Pasey, you did come across as being a smartass. Everyone and their dog knows what 'uber' means. The guy was offering you top dollar for the best pet you could make - how complicated is that? Making your potential customers jumps through hoops just because they didn't phrase their question EXACTLY the way you wanted, may score you points in the smartass club but it sure as he11 won't get you repeat custom.
The simple fact is BE is a black art even to most of the BEs by the looks of things. I see a lot of awesome tips in this forum and a lot of BEs discovering new things and helping each other - kudos to that. Do you really expect a non BE to know more than a Master BE? If not, then why be so pedantic when a guy is trying to give you money and place an order.

Uber is vauge. To give an example someone told me they wanted an uber pet, and really they wanted an non ch tank. Another person thinks uber means just high HAM. Some think uber applies to kimos (just kimos regardless of stats). Uber to me means nothing because as a master CH, I need different pets for different situations, some for a combo, or maybe just one good tank. Does uber mean high HAM or high damage? Oh and what level can ther person handle? Sometimes they never tell me or have no idea what that means.
I expect the person to at least give me the following information: What skin they want, what level of pet they can handle, or if they are looking for a combo of two pets (say two 30 something level pets to equal 70). If they start out that request with "uber" . . . really I don't set out to make the worst pets possible, but try to make them all the best I can.
I wouldn't walk into a tailors shop and ask for "neat clothes". What would that mean to them? I also wouldn't ask a weaponsmith to make me "the best gun". What certifications do I have? Does speed or HAM costs matter? This could also apply to armorsmiths, what is the best armor?
Nobody is complaining about finally getting business or being in demand. What we are asking for is for people to figure out what they can handle, and stop asking for "uber" or "the best". The point is we are all overwhelmed with the demand and would appreciate some understanding, and offering to pay me top dollar isn't going to enable me to make the pets any faster.
Also I have heard from another BE today about the person who messaged me (in the link). I'm not the only one who doesn't want to do business with him.
No, of course you would be more specific with something you KNEW something about. I'm a MCH and just put an order in for a pet. All I could glean from these forums was AR1, max Kinetic 60%, specials - any two of Open wounds, Strong Poison, KD, Dizzy - after that (apart from the research I did on skins), I'm totally lost and at the mercy of the BE.
I'm probably going to be shelling out 300-500k so I do expect some help with the rest, just like I would with any big purchase I am unsure about. Luckily, the BE I'm using is very patient and seems to know his stuff.
I guess all this new business is quite a shock for the profession and they have yet to hone their customer skills to bring them in line with their obvious skill in crafting pets. I'm sure anybody in retail will tell you that every customer is a potential idiot but it's aHUGE mistake to treat your customers like cretins. I'm not in retail but I do have very high customer expectations. Some people only have a vague idea of what is possible and need guiding to the correct decision for them. Scorn doesn't help anybody.
Also, please note I did say 'coming across' as a smartass - not that you are being a smartass. Personally, I wish every one of you people who stuck with BE through the dark days nothing but success - you deserve it.

Actually, the skin does matter. If you use the skin of an agro creature the modifiers to taming that creature apply. For example, I can use a max CL55 pet. I made myself a CL54 kimo. When it was grown I was no longer able to pull it. This is a known bug and there is info about it on the CH forum. Use caution when you are making non CH pets or selling pets. Right now the only way around this bug is to use +taming clothing.

Yep skin matters, and we know that now, another thing that had to be figured out

I've thought alot about what you have said. I've come up with something that hopefully works out on both sides, keeps the BE sane and not lose their cool and come off as an a$$ when they really are not (me I hope), and help the customer out by letting them know what info we need from them, also stating when / if they can expect their pet to be delievered. I devised a form email that I can send to all requesters, outlining what info I need, also giving them some info regarding constraints (no open wounds, etc).
I hope this helps everyone involved, and thanks for letting me know how I came across
Ive been asking them to send an e-mail doing a list of greatest to worst for the things they want in their creature. I E if light amor is most important its 1 or if damage doesnt matter then it could be last on the list. If I just put the various aspects I can control in the form e-mail then I could just ask them to put a number on from 1-10 or however many I end up with.

Back when i was a master smuggler I lived in tell hell all day long, this is before you couldn't shake a stick at a starport without hitting 15 master smugglers. Finally I gave up on trying to answer tells about slicing.

Finally I just created an e-mail, with ALL the pertinent information about slicing, and the second I got a tell I just forwarded it to that person. As the weeks wore on I started getting replies (after sending the e-mail) like, "no sh*t, cn u f**kin slic4 mer wot?" By that point I realized that I had educated my customer base fromignorant, beligerant, a$$hats, to just plain beligerant a$$hats. I like to think I made a difference... 
This is an EXCELLENT method. Not only do they get a ton of info, but they have the e-mail there with your name on it. So if they buy one pet or don't buy anything (maybe they don't have enough bread), there is your name sitting there in their inbox. This really helps weed out the retards as well. I'm sorry, but this isn't Wal-Mart. You don't HAVE to cater to every schmuck who comes across. You don't have massive over-head and 500,000 employees galaxy wide. If someone is stupid and bothering you... bye!

I'm also in this for a different reason. When I heard how the new BE system worked I was excited that FINALLY a "cool" crafting system had been implimented into the game. One that didn't just require waiting for some utterly obscure iron or alluminum to show up. Limited only by the wit, courage, and cunning of the player.
I also get alot of /tells asking for kimos. I explain to them that I dont make them, because they are too big and will lag the game even worse then it already is. I also tell them that the kimos are no different than anything else... it's what's inside that counts. I tell them if they insist on a kimo, it will cost 1 million credits.... that shuts them up =)
I met a really friendly MCH and made her a CL 47 narglatch with 10k HAM with light armor and 57% kinetic resists that does 550-560 damage with strong poison and stong disease... she loved it. She told me that cat skins are really good, because they can keep up with you. After mesing around with other DNA i made a CL 23 bearded jax 8k HAM no armor, but 47% resists to everything that does 580-590 damage with strong poison and strong disease. I told her about it, and mentioned she can have 3 out at once, since she is a MCH... She absolutely loved that. (these pets were made from death-head DNA, experimented only in aggression.. by the way)
The point is if people want you to make them a kimo, show them that there are better stuff out there. Me personally, I'd rather have 3 cute little kitties that come up to my boot, yet can bite the heads off of some of the kimos out there.
