Thread: BE CL Problem/CH Niche Answered.
I posted to this on the creature handler forum. Its not a bad idea except I have to be logged on and be with a creature handler to make any money in the animal market. I can't put animals on a vendor anymore so my customer can shop at their leisure.
It also removes a lot of fun for the bio-engineer. Making stim packs that adjust creature level is no different than making stim packs that heal HAM or buff player stats.
The creature level calculator is completely hosed. Why you can craft a CL10 animal with 6K HAM is beyond me. I don't care if it does zero damage and is vuln to everything, with HAM that high it shouldn't be a 10. If they fixed the level calculator we wouldn't need a pet check at all. Besides, the pet check doesn't work either. ![]()
It's an interesting idea, and pet slicing is something I've seen discussed in the past. But yeah, we're currently caught in kind of a snare. BEs in general like being in control of every aspect of the pet's creation, and Tamer CHs in general like the adventure of "creating" a brand new pet by finding and taming it in the wild. Each of these activitiesresults ina rewarding feeling that drives players.
Since thesetwo activities are core elements of the respective professions for many people, I don't see howwe can reach a resolution without seriously upsetting the apple cart in someone's favor. Pet slicing is more of a compromise than one group or the other just saying "We win, go home." But I don't know. I wish there was a solution that would make everyone happy. I've been giving it a great deal of thought for a long time, and following discussions on the board with great interest.
Vert,
In general how does the layout for this look? I wanted to ask the BE correspondent but according to recent posts he seems on hiatus or something. I really had hoped this could lay a foundation of sorts then build from there.

I doubt you would find much joy from most other BEs Pluto9Moon, as a MCH also Im slightlymore sympathetic!
When you start to develop your BE character you will understand that it is probably the most fun, complexand rewarding crafting system in the game. Its light years ahead of making a gun or armour or droids as those systems are setup now. Your standardized slicing proposal would basically be a massive step back from this no matter how it is wrapped up. The clone system just has one main (albeit massive) flaw in that on a lot of creations the final CL does not represent the stats. Once this is fixed the system will be working as intendedwith, hopefully,no more CH hatred towards BEs due to 10k HAM CL7 pets and such like. ![]()
Green,
As we can see from the CL10 example I provided the HAM is 900. Now the one you made is 900 and CL9. You did get one whole CL out of it. The current problem from what I am seeing is that the check in place are rather arbitrary. To further liken BE to Smugglers it seems that the BE is making a weapon far more powerful than intended as if a sliced CDEF became as power as the most Elite Weaponsmith weapon pre-sliced. The market for high ends will crash. I am sorry but it seems if you want to give effectively CL15 pets to non-CH then our nerf is meaningless. Because what happens now is all dabblers drop the CH requirement saving Skill Points to have what at times look to be as effective pets as why I myself use as an MCH in pairs. Again it becomes reductionist. Why keep MCH? There are quite a few BE that have CH as well. They can train their own deeds for customers. Truthfully, I am thankful for that I would rather not be bothered with it. So where do BE envision the CH? LOL. Pets to stroll around with us to check harvesters? BAH. I could be a non-CH to do that. We have no combat role, other than allowing us to return to our former glory to solo. That is unacceptable and I can see that to a certain extent. SOE hates solo players.
We have no need to tame our own pets. Not when it become so much harder to survive without the BE pets. I shrugged BE pets off for the longest time. I got some as a present from my friend. I have not used a wild tame since. The fact is our light armor was stolen from us and without it the pets are just too weak. So again where does that leave us? No niche. No role. And soley a class to get griefed by other players and harrassed because we were once gods. But oh how the mighty have fallen. We cannot even get the BE's to allow us a little fun. The perfect system is out there (granted it may not be mine but it is close). There must be a compromise some day. Or like Vert stated someone is going to win and someone is going to lose and it all goes to hell in a handbasket shortly after. At least 5 more MCH quit this week. So you need to sit back and reflect what are you selling, to whom and why do they want it. You more than anyone probably know your market.
I am just another frustrated CH with no reason why. If every BE is CH only to train their own pets then we narrow the field down a lot for potential sales. The truth of the matter is I foresee the consolidation of BE/CH to allow for the DE's to get use of Combat Droids. It is something I personally fight against, but without a real niche I am not certain I would fight very hard.
lol. come come. We discussed whether it worked or not in the thread which was removed (still haven't figured that one out).
CL5 bantha made with the new crafting system was invalid. Made it with minor worrt DNA.
Anyway, we move on now.

The problem with selective breeding is that when you strip it down to its core essentials that it remains genetically based. Again that is a snafu of the system in someone will want bragging rights to this title. In essence BE will scream if we can breed their models in our corals. Still we wind up with useless wild pets if that is all we can breed because they have no market. I am really frustrated that this cannot work for what ever reason or the other.
Castillo the more I hear BE's defend their we want it all posture the less sympathetic I become. It is not just for dissing my idea but the lack of some idea that could make CH have a tiny bit dignity. I am glad of one thing my three other accounts provide me more joy than CH currently. I do not know why I even bother at this point. CH is doomed. When it goes BE is not far behind. The BE community is undeniably saying you exist for us so just suffer while we have our fun. But at the same time you ask us what skins we would like to see in our own threads as if to rub our faces down in the stink.
I really am jaded. The message is being sent loud and clear to us today that there is no concern from BE whatsoever towards any distinction we try to make for ourselves. Without that distinction you are more than correct that we only exist for your pleasure and that in and of itself is appalling. I hate to sound so reductionist but it is what it boils down to. Unlike most games the niches of people readily become apparent. Someone buffs, someone tanks, someone heals, the rest are just added DPS. But within a game of such huge potential as this, and all the supposed interconnectedness. The CH is not connected in anyway except as a purchaser.
So now the CH must try to get in groups (once the combat revamp hits and forced grouping occurs) to get money. We are not wanted in groups. Soloing will be a thing of the past. So now we only have a one way relationship and less income to pay you for it. You keep the fun aspect and we will keep on being the credit slaves we must be to buy your pets, stims and vit packs. We will find the fun somehow. Most likely a new profession or different game, but it is there somewhere.
Well I tried to be constructive Pluto, but I now see it was pointless. Your posts are oozing with bitterness towards the devs rebalancing of CH (re. your reference to wanting 15k HAM medium ar creatures!?) and after turning your hate filled postson the devs & Vertexon you have now decided to attack the wholeBE professionwith a ridiculous but "fair" proposal forthedestruction of the best crafting system in the game.
It has been explained to you by numerous posters re. the miscalculation of CL issue. The validation checks are a stop gap measure needed to get the overpowered BE pets out of the game, but they are not working at the moment -does that justify gutting the BE clone system? Does the fact that CL is being miscalculated justify gutting the BE clone system? Shall we fix the CL calculation method or nerf BE intoyour boredom inducing pet slicing system? ![]()
