Personally I think the Milk rarity is almost needed(well atleast a very rare component)... otherwise every Novice CH is going to buy +200 skilled clothing for 500 creds and go tame him/herself some Kimogila's... The rarity increases the cost and reduces the number of these buffs in game.. both are good.

Chefs need milk for ~15% of their items including 20% of Master Chef items, and they aren't even "uberitems" like the +taming wild/viscious creatures, making it so rare means Chef is penalised over 1 BE item

Eggs are easy, just search lairs. All the eggs found during the same cycle will be stackable (and I think that even applies across different planets?)

As an aside IIRC there is a food item in the Artisan Domestic tree that also requires Milk

This attitude always amazes me! I have had this done to me on a number of occasions (without starting to whine and call names) and I have looted these godforsaken piles when there have been /afkers outside the city. They're nobody's property. Finders keepers. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I have been able to secure some milk every now and then (although my piles of 24 units when the milk shifts out kinda bum me out), but most of the time it's wooly hide or some crap like that.

Over the last few days, however, there seems to have been a tuning down of the loots in these piles, at least on Eclipse. Where, at one point, you would find 3 tapes/attachments (albeit crappy +1s) in that one pile, now it's usually one or maybe two. Same thing with the resources in the other piles. And maybe I've just been having bad luck, but on two diff occasions (when I have been lucky enough to be alone out there), there has been no milk in either pile for 5-6 spawns. Anyone else notice this?

If only fishing were less of a drag...

As part of the Chef revamp, scouts will gain the ability to /milk herbivore animals. Not in yet, but coming soon.

As an aspiring B-E I can tell you the schematic for passive tranquilizers (taming bonus) calls simple for milk. doesn't mention domesticated or wild.
