You could always grind out 20K (an hr grind at the most), get novice powers, and use that respec point to get your level 4 box. My advise would be to get 0-0-4-0 in defender, though. That will give you improved force aura whichwillmitigate your damage by about 2/3.Combine that with the improved force infusionon a macro and you should have little down time between kills, especially if you have some ranged buddies that can help you grind. It will also save your force bar as you won't have to use the advanced heal very often.

Ok, edited skills....

I'm now:

4/0/0/0 Healing

0/4/0/4 Lightsabers

0/0/3/0 Defense (Modified this)

0/0/0/1 Enhancement

Novice Powers (Added this)

Comments, suggestions?

I know there are several template posts out there but I'm just getting confused by the whole thing.

Here's my current template:

MDEF, MLS, 2000 Healer, 0003 Enh

Question is, how important is Drain Force and Channel Force? With the double mastery there's probably enough force there. So should go:

MDEF, MLS, 3000 Healer, 2000 Enh.

This way I get better force infusion and force speed and force run (should I need to chase anyone down).

Now, I'm also consider dropping the MLS as it seems a waste to use up all those skill points.

The standard single master template is:

0404 LS, MDEF 4040 Healer, 2003 Enhancer.

My question is.... how important is MLS and secondly, is the following template a viable alternative?

0404 LS, MDEF, 2000 Healer, 0400 Powers and 2002 enhance?

only 5775 force points but I get channel force and force cloak, which just seems like too much fun. Force run is still there too.

Any suggestions or input based on your experiences?

Thanks

My adivce is try them out and see what you like, the resepc is still going on. If you find you can't kill stuff as well as you like switch back. Its all about picking what works best for you, not what everyone else is doing.

That's a fair point. Unfortunately I don't have much time over the coming week and was hoping that some of you might already have tested these templates out and can help me rule one or two out, which would make it easier for me.

My advice?

If you are going MDEF to do high level stuff and 'be the tank' then great - it's a good profession.
If you are doing group PvP and you want to frontline while other people are your backup - it's a good prefession.
If however, you are going MDEF because you have heard you NEED it in PvP - don't bother. It'll be a disappointment. You can PvP perfectly well with Aura (Def 0040) and still have plenty of other 'fun' abilities to spice up the fight with.

In short, if it was EQ2 and you wanted to be a warrior/paladin - MDef is the way to go. If not, then don't bother.

I guess I want to be able to do high-level stuff but at the same time I want to have a template that's good enough to defend myself against BH and also particpate in Jedi v Jedi if it's necessary when they re-implement the FRS. I'm not too bothered about kicking backsides in PvP but I'd like to be able to hold my own and survive more often than note.

Question is, can I get away with that without needing MLS and forsaking the double mastery?

Ok. Just a little advice. At first my template was going to be

Master powers, LS 0404, 4000 healer, and 0144 defender. - I have to have Master Powers cause I'm actually going to Rolepaly a DJK, the problem with this temp is there's no force regen.

So now I'm thinking this template.

Master Powers, LS 0404, 4000 healer, 0004 enhancer, and 0040 defender - This offers my RP powers temp with force regeneration skills plus Force Drain... but lacks in defense.

Thanks for any input. Which is a better choice?

my template is mdef , 0404 ls , 4020 healing , 3004 enhancement and it seems to work rather well only thing that slows me down is action costs and every template will have that problem
