Thread: Factory question

According to the AS forum, backpacks with 50 items count as 1 item.

It's necessary for a "suit of armor" to be one item for armorsmiths. But it sure as heck isn't necessary to allow storage of 2,500 items in packs on a normal vendor at business 3.

That's the problem. The devs need to make it so that folks won't just transfer things into packs.

I misunderstood the question. Backpacks in factories count each item on the backpack toward the total allowed. I'm sorry for the confusion. I thought you were talking about vendors.

my understanding is that backpack with 5 items=6 items

the armorsmiths may want something different but they have not said something different yet

and in a factory each item in the backpack counts against you, like an unequiped backpack. Same with in the bank

Hello.

I'm a new Master Artisan and I have a factory question.

How do I make a factory run of 5 crates of 10 off one schematic? I did it accidentally once before and I've been trying to re-create it with no luck. When I create the schematic it only gives me a grand total option up to 1000. I tried putting the required materials for 50 in the input hopper, but that did not work.

Any assistance is appreciated.

What you did sounds right to me. If you have a schematic that will make 1000 of something and only add enough resources to make 50, you will end up with 50. Depending on what you are making the amount in each crate will be different, some items make crates of 10, some 25, some 50. You can split crates into smaller crates using the radial menu, but if you are trying to make crates of 10 out of 25's you'll have an odd crate of 5 left over. In that case you'll have to do individual runs of 20 then remove the crate before starting the next batch.

Thank you for the reply.

So, should I always make my schematics out for a run of 1000? If I want to sell powerups in crates of 10 and I want to put 10 of these crates on my vendor just put in enough resources for a run of 100 and split the crates (since it will make a crate of 100 instead of the 10 crates of 10 that I want) in the hopper? I didn't know I could split crates up into seperate crates after the crates were made.

I will definetly experiment with this tonite.

If you make schematics for 1000 and only make a run of 500 you will have another spot taken up on your data pad. This is np if you have the same resources to make another run of 500 if not then you need to make another schematic with differenet resources to make the same item.

After a few months you will end up with a datpad full of schematics for items with no resources to make them unless you find someone like me who has a few stacks in the back of his store room he is hoarding.

(I make a schematic for the run I'm doing 200-300 for power-ups have made some runs that do not sell)

I usually just make schematics for 1000. If I run out of resources for it, I just delete the schematic from my datapad and make a new one with whatever resources I do have.

You can enter the amount you want to make by clicking on the box where it says 1000. A cursor will appear, and you can type in the exact number. It is also a sliding box. You can drag the number down. I dod it with shields, and special segments. Since they can take up to 8 minutes of factory time each, I put exact numbers. If you don't, the factory will run beyond the last item made. That's 8 wasted minutes of factory time for my shields. I do alot of very small runs, to make 80% kinetic ubese. Since you can't make more than 10 in a row of those segments ( enhanced with voritor or krayt scales), I make the schematic exact. I get the email that it has stopped, step outside, and load the next schematic. While that one runs, I craft the segments that just came out. It's good for hotloading small amounts.

If you're going to let it run overnight, just use a 1k schematic. You might trip over a vendor selling that resource dirt cheap or something. Delete as it becomes less likely, and you need room

Thanks again for the responses!

I've been experimenting and found that making the schematic for the run amount is best for me. I can split the crates as I see fit after that.

The overnight idea is a good one as I find I'm doing that more often.

I've got a character on Acct 1 that placed a factory. My architect is on Acct 2. Architect is on the Admin list for the factory. I've placed a schematic in there (structure module) and 38K of aluminum and 8K of Carbo Ore. I tell it to begin manufacturing and nothing is ever made. What am I doing wrong??

Not sure if this is in the right forum. I was wondering if i created a run of memory modules and gp modules, and i decide to create a run of a part that takes 2 gp modules and one memory module. could i start the factory with the modules i just created, and while they are working i make another batch of gp modules and put them into the factory as is or do i need to make another scematic.
