One thing I would add on the /tellpet silent commands: I like to see confirmation of the command, but don't want to spam spatial chat. So I use the following macros (an example):

/tellpet follow;

/echo Follow

This gives your pet the command, and then shows it in white text in your chat window. Other players do not see it. If I want to roleplay a bit, I might put together an alternate macro:

/tellpet store;

/say Good boy, Bubba! Kennel up!

I usually keep my attack macro silent, with an echoed confirmation (as in the first macro example). However, if I'm using my GSP or GW to pull for a group, I substitute the following macro:

/tellpet Attack;

/say Hunt 'em up, boy!

Groups usually like a chat indicator so that they know when an attack actually starts. This serves the purpose in a roleplaying manner.

A slightly more useful macro in a grouping situation would be:

/tellpet attack;
/say Hunt for %TT

What your party members will see is:

Hunt forDarth Vader (Imperial Badguy)

%TT is a variable for what you have targeted...my groupmates love knowing what I'm pulling now.

FYI - there is a great thread on what the various creature levels are, when you can tame them, and how the creatures compare in terms of ability to take damage here:

Though you can't train a graul mauler till taming 3, you can tame a regular graul with just 2/2. I was confused about this so I went out to Dathomir and those were the results. Anyways great post!

For those of you who were wondering about the spineflap handmaidens, they are tamable at novice, and I find them fairly often. You just go to Kaadara, Nabooand head SE about 1500 m. There are generally not a lot aggros in the area, so your maskscent should do the trick. After about 4 attempts, a novice should have a nice sturdy pet with which to fight.

As for vitality packs, the Bio-Engineer forum is working on some usable data for how vitality packs work and whether the type matters. (i.e. A, B, C) We have one example by Anot where max vitality was not depleted due to the use of a 90-power Vitality Medpack C. However, there is no proof of this information at the moment.

Pardon me as I attempt a story/question.

I'm a poor CH, not trying to get too far into the profession, but I want pets. I'm at 1,0,0,1 right now. I have a Bantha, which I'm saving for a mount, he's at level 14, if I remember right. Now, I just bought a Giant Sand Beetle, or something similar, it's only been a day with him. It was a level 30 beetle, or at least will become that. I bought it from someone, then raised it into a size I could, but, it made it to level 18 and I "don't have the skill to tame" it anymore.

1. I think I'd need Animal Rapport to use this pet, am I right or wrong?

2. If I were to hand my pet over to a Master CH, or something of the sort, could they make it non-ch type? So that perhaps I could use it or something like that?

3. If all else fails, if the pet is non-ch can I use ANY level pet that is non-ch? I.E. Buy a Giant Sand Beetle at level 30 and weild it pre-trained in battle?

Thanks-good thread.

You need to raise both Creature Training and Creature Taming to level 2.Themax CL petyou can use is determined both by "Max Pet Level" and "Max Number of Pet Levels". As a Novice CH, you start out with both of these numbers at 15 (same as a non-CH). The short answer is, you need to raise yourskills to a minimum of 2/2/0/0 to be able to use apet above CL25. At that level, you can call and use a single pet, with a max CL of 35. Note: Further confusing the matter, it is reported that you cannot use a Graul Mauler (CL 34) until you reach 3/2/x/x.

2. If I were to hand my pet over to a Master CH, or something of the sort, could they make it non-ch type? So that perhaps I could use it or something like that?

No. You are effectively asking if a Master CH can lower the CL of an already-fully-grown pet. Can't be done.

3. If all else fails, if the pet is non-ch can I use ANY level pet that is non-ch? I.E. Buy a Giant Sand Beetle at level 30 and weild it pre-trained in battle?

A pet is only non-CH controllable if it is: a) CL15 or less, and b) non-aggressive in the wild. A creature like your Beetle is tamed as a baby, with an initial CL around 3 to 5. As you've already experienced, you can use it up to the point where it outgrows your skill level (i.e., it's Challenge Level increases beyond the max that you can handle, based on your skills in Training and Taming). After that, you just get an error message when you try to call it out of your datapad.

Thanks-good thread.

Thanks, I'll just work on getting to 2,2,0,0 for now then. Suppose I'll have to just tame a bunch of animals because my bantha sorta sucks. Heh..

I think this is a general question overall but I will make it slightly specific for my situation.

Im a wookie with 2-1-0-0 in CH. I spent several days trying to get CH 2-1-0-0. The reason was that I wanted a GSP for my BH work. I have basically no points to spend on any more CH skill boxes. I got 2-1-0-0 so I could tame GSP and save the cost of buying one. Last night I tamed 4 GSP babies. I was shocked I actually found 4 in one night!

With 2-1-0-0 I can teach them to attack, follow, store, and stay. As I read I cannot teach them thier name because I need magagement IV. Is that true? I also cant heal their mind in field because I don't have the skill to teach Trick 1 or 2. Also without the transfere command I see a problem in getting CH training help with them.

With all that being said, I really want to know if someone to teach them all the commands like group, trick 1 and trick 2. So if I stay at 2-1-0-0 does this mean I cannot trade these to a Master CH for him to train all 4 of these GSP in the commands I cant teach them? I while back I just traded my rock beetle to a CH and he trained all the commands for my pet. Is there anyway to get my pet trained at the level Im at with a majority of the commands at all? Or have I wasted my time in getting 4 baby GSP because I cant trade them even to trainthem or sell them.Can I trade them to anyone at all at the level I'm at?

My other question is how do they become adults? Do I just have to keep using them in battle till they "grow up"?

If I had the transfere command can a CH make the GSP babies grow up right away when he trains them? Say I only use one of the babies all the time, what is the fastest way to make the others become adults?

I hope this all makes sense. Please help me out.
