I just made Novice CH last night and I was wondering how long does it take your pet to grow. I manage to catch a Humbaba and a Murra Cat on avergae how long would it take. Thanks

10% on each growth spurt. So, some where between 5 and 10 days total.

Sorry to keep breaking the news to the die hards but the 10% every 12 hours just is not true.

The growth spurts your pets get are on a 12 hour timer but they can be 10%, 20% or nothing at all (perhaps more but 20% is the most I've seen so far). I had a Corellian Slice Hound that had grown a toal of 20% in 2 days and a Grand Wrix that is at full strengthafterthree and a half days (and that was having missed a spurt). You pets will grow as fast as they grow, you'll just have to wait and see.

In the mean time you mightwant to release one of your pets and build up some Creature Handling skill by finding as many baby animals as you can, thentaming, training and releasing them. Taming a pet is worth a hundred points or more for each animal and each command you train it to respond to is worth another 100 points. If you're on Corellia still keep an eye out for Durni, Paralope and Vynock nests as they usually have a couple of babies to train.

When you have enough skill points put them towards a tier that gives you a fourth command. With a fourth command you can train a pet to learn it's name which is worth another 100 points or more. To teach a pet it's name put it at the start of each of the commands you give it (for example "Ace sic'em." "Ace follow me." "Ace you're free."). When it's learned four commands with it's name in front of it, it's learned it's name as well. You're now earning 600 or more points per creature you tame and release.

One word of warning about your Humbaba. They're a good tank pet but, assuming you have average weapon skills for a novice Creature Handler, you probably won't get any exp for using them in a fight against animals you can safely face. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. You can still earn the experience to advance by doing the tame and release routine. If you want to get exp when you're fighting maybe go for a lower level pets. Something in the 1100 hit point range will get you experience even fighting Durni's.

Some good pets in that range on Corellia are the Carrion Spat, Bagaraset and Wrix. If you don't mind a little trip up north, look for a Swamp Gurrcat in the Agrilat Swamp (run in a straight line between the two northen cities and you can't miss it). They have the same hit points but will do 125 damage while the others will average 100.

So far the best method I've found for using my pet is against animals. Maskscent to be harder to spot then snipe at the critters from 50 to 60 meters. If you have good camo skills (I'm at Master Scout/Novice Ranger) you can usually get the mobs below half strength before they spot you. When it charges I order in my pet, throw traps and keep shooting. All the pet has to do is land one bite and you'll get the same Creature Handling exp as if he'd done all the damage. Just be aware that if the pet is incapacitated when the creature is killed you get no Handling exp so don't be in too big of a hurry to send it in.

I've had a pet grow to 100% in 24 hours, and I've seen plenty follow the the 10% rule. Who knows for sure.

Which tier gives you the naming ability? Thank you

Jauron, what pet is this? I'm conducting research for my up and coming CH website, and I am trying to determine the varibles. Such as if it is set for each creature, if the data pad order counts, or anything else. As it is proven that it is not set.

IE my greater sludge panther, every24 hours would double grow. And no, I don't mean every 12 hours It would grow once, I mean every 24 It would grow TWICE, big difference.

After 5 days, it's as big and bad as it's going to get.

All pets = 5 day growth period.

If you've tamed one, highlight the pet in the datapad and look at the information that shows on the left. It will show the current statswith the full growth stats in parentheses. I don't recall what it shows on the newly created pets in the inventory screen.

Liking the creature handler profession so far but have a few simple questions that I hope some more experienced players could help me on.

1) How does pet growth work? Does it only grow during the time I spend online, in my pack, out of it or what?

2) At what maturity can the pet actually be used for combat (noticed my babies died fast lol)?

3) How often must I feed it, only when it's hurt?

Anyways just a few quick things I was wondering is all, thanks to all those who help out.

1) They will grow in the data pad on about a 12 hour cycle.

2) You can use them anytime for combat if you use your head. If your talking about as a useful DoT or actually tanking, then that depends on what kind of pet you have and what you are fighting. My GSP is in his 3 rd Growth cycle making him have 2100 HAM and about 60 dmg. He can be a good tank or damage add now. My Wrix which is what I exp with, is full grown 1100 HAM and 130 dmg. He can tank most Whites alone.

3) You don't ever have to feed it but then tend not to listen to you very well if you don't. I usually feed it when it is hungry or when I think it might be getting hungry.

Hey everyone

I just picked up Novice Creature Handler last weekend, and am a bit confussed about pet growth. I tamed my first pet ever, a rock bettle last Saturday (December 13th), and while he has grown HAM wise (it's up to 360 across the board), this control thing still says he's "difficulty level 0". Is this normal?

I have a BE razor cat I bought about 4 days ago, when I look at it in my data pad it shows:

Difficulty Level: 0(5) and shows HAM with current values and max values in parenthesis.

I'm wondering if there is something special that needs to be done to get it to grow, does it just take more time, or is it broken?

Thanks,
