Thread: An idea I had

I was reading the forums today and thought of an idea for us BE's that seems actually quite interesting. It would get us involved with droid engineers. It would be a droid that you can send to sample a creature however the draw back is that you need some kind of combat ability cause it requires aiming or you have to be a master BE to use it. It doesn't modify any stats what so ever, you target the creature you wish to sample then select the bot or use it from your ui action toolbar. It would count down for 5 seconds and if the creature moves out of the 30m range it terminates the action waisting the droid. This would allow use to obtain much more harder samples such as those from mutant rancors without having to be physically near them doubling our range but keeping the cost at such a lvl were we can use them if we want. I also thought that since there are Master BE's out there maybe we can get a creature knowledge bonus so that we can see the creature lvl like a master scout can or have the droid do it for us.

Personally, I'm opposed to anything that makes sampling less challenging, but there are apparently many BE's who (at least did) like this idea. /shrug

The sampling droid is an idea that's come up a number of times. You've put a new twist on it with the combat skill however. Unfortunately for someone like myself the droid would be useless since I have no combat skills.

I actually enjoy crawling 70m through muck and over rocks to stab a mutant rancor with my needles. No, really, I do. Maybe its all the jawa beer and brandy I had to drink.

Hey guys does any one rember when you needed artisan for Smuggler??? It should be one of our requirements a if you think about it. My idea is this not making a must have, but for the each lvl of eng. you take you get a +1.25 bonus to your slices. This would represent the fact your more trained to tinker with things. It's just an Idea. I know alot of you don't like slicing for people,

I'll just simply state that I would not be for this, and leave it at that.

If Artisan were a requirement, that would absolutely suck. I actually have it, and it doesn't leave room for much else. That's 45 skill points in just novice base professions there... then pistols, unarmed, etc. It adds up quick. Not a good idea.

I never said required.......Artisan was in beta required for Smuggler, much like Bh they wanted high skill point req. to become one. What I was trying to say make it optional and give a bonus to slicing for taking it. And maybe if the change spice to truely craftible, add bonuses to spice exp. to the dom. arts tree. NOT REQUIRED, JUST A AVAILIBLE BONUS!!!!

I don't see why Atrisian would add anything when we already have a 'slicing' tree. If you want a bonus, put it there. Don't suck away even more skill points.

Absolutely NOT. We are SMUGGLERS NOT ARTISANS.

Can we never revisit this please?

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.

A novice smuggler is a novice smuggler - by giving extra points it's possible that a novice smuggler with the engineering tree would be a better slicer than a novice smuggler with say slicing I or slicing II.

Also - you say not required - but realistically if it gives more points then, while not an actualy requirement - will be a practical requirement that will take up more skill points.

For most elite professions, say Rifleman, you need just the marksman rifle tree to advance to a powerful elite profession, a skill point cost of 29 points, for Doctor you need the complete medic tree (71? Points) What your suggestion will create is a skillpoint sink hole of 87 points (novice brawler+unarmed tree, novice marksman+pistol tree and novice artisan+engineering tree) which would be wholly out of whack. And again, I know you said NOT REQUIRED, but if you want to excel in your profession these would be required plain and simple.

(my numbers are top of the head so I stand to be corrected)

SO - to summarize - Not for this at all.

Cheers

no..in Beta just one branch from Artisan, the engineering line, was required. not the entire Artisan tree.
