Someone asked me for something and I told him I'd look into it. They want a pet specifically designed to tank krayt dragons in a group hunt. Is it ever advisable to use a pet this way? If so, what pet properties and specials would be most advantagous for a group hunting krayts?

I would suggest intimidate with blind, halves the damage it does do - the pet isnt going to do much damage to a krayt even with poison.
I would say a pair of 35's or triplets would be better for tanking a krayt - a CL 70 doesnt have double the HAM of a Cl 35 and kinetic caps at 60%

id make 2 CL35 pets one with Intimidate/Blind, other with Intimidate/Stun.

I would also make their damage 30-40 so you can squeeze in as much HAM as possible. Like the others said, Light armor and 60% kinetic.

60% Kinetic Res light armor 350+ dmg and a truckload of ham possibly some strong poison, but still expect to do a massive amount of healing on the pet during a dragon fight.

60% Kinetic, without question. You should also add Blind as well as Strong Poison as specials. Less the dragon lands, the less you need to heal. As for damage, that is going to depend on the level of the pet. You can easily get 400+ damage in the 30's and it only gets higher from there.

Well then who is goana use those pet stims?
The owner or the doc?

Cause the doc will just get agro when he gets near the krayt.

The owner will have to dump whatever specials he is currently about to drop. Both parts are usualy unwilling to do that job. So the CH ends up with one pet running away cause it is low on mind, the Doc is trying to run up to it to use pet stims, meanwhile the other pet is starting to run in the other direction. THe krayt is about dead so the melee get pissed and starts doing kong-fu on the krayt, then he gets in capped and DB, the doctor panics, run to the dead man and rez him, all the other people get incapped while the doctor tryes to get the melee up and no dead krayt

And with the current CM+ Commando + melee dmg the krayt will be fast so one big pet witch is maybe not goana, or atleast just need healing af few times doing battle , and a mind trick after battle....

If the doc has any brains he'll drag the dead player back to a safe distance instead of running in to rez, you can easily get 30m from an occupied Krayt without trouble, as for the double pets, send one in and tell the other to stay, when the first one gets too damaged to fight on send in the other and call the first one back, then the doc/ch can safely heal up the pet, rotating like that gives practivally infinate damage absorption.

Dont go 2pets against a krayt. You will loose mind on them and very fast you end up with 2 mind incapped pets...

I say ranged attack to draw aggro.
60% kin, light armor and high ham ... ( as everybody else says..)

Pet specials is not that important in my opinion, no reason risking loosing HAM for a specific special...

i fail to see the logic in that...

Hey look my pet is almost dead, instead of healing it, ill shoot it once more and let it incap my pet and proceed to kill me.

What about the 'tag team' approach?...heal one while the other is tanking?

Plug, the thing is that not everybody got pet stims. And even if everyone in the group had one, they wouldent all use it cause they expected someone else would use it..

And nanzy kinda show what i mean in her example. The doctors usualy tryes to save/ heal the players instead of pets..

Nevertheles if the group works, 2 pets is better, cant disagree..

But i still think 1 strong pet is the most secure aproach. Goana take more time to recover after the battle, and will take a little longer to kill it. But it will be easier to control.
And the pet need to be large, kimo, turton , fambaa, graul, rancor.. Just a large skin. It will have a psykologic effect on the group since they will pay more attention to the stat of a large pet, then a small naglatach.

Probaly comes down to a question of the groups skills as hunters...

Taken that they know what theyr doing , and theyr doing it well, even when the lag and warp occurs, your right, 2 pets would then be the best aproach.
