Please read links from and then post in merchant feedback thread here.

And think of how great it will be that everyone no longer travels to your shop,

that only the lowest sellers get sales

that the impulse buys from browseing a vendor are gone

that player cities that are clinging to exist via their vendors are no longer visited...

This is not sitting well with me so I am making sure we all know so we can all voice either way.

Arthur sorry I posted everywhere, I am so against this.

People need to speak up and actually voice what they feel for or against but get your post out there.

Where a search would be great what thisproposes removes any self standards we have for our craft...*sigh*

When does this go live..or did it allready?

Just think, with all those wasted points I put into merchant, I can now drop to Merchant 0-0-0-2 and put those points back into a fighting skill so that I can take revenge on all those crazed durni's that have been kicking my butt cause I couldnt spare a point into TK....and Now that I no longer need to decorate my shop with items for when people visit... I can save all that money I am gonna make selling my items at the lowest price possible to even resemble competetive and just focus on the mindless numbing aspect of the game and go kill stuff hour after hour....thanks SOE...I appreciate you taking away the only interesting aspect of this game that differentiates it with other hack and slash games online by removing the economy, fair market value, selling skills, advertising, competition in one fell swing...I say lets sell all our stuff and go harvest avian meat till the cows come home...wow...fun....yeahh........

I certainly have my own very strong opinions on this, but I'd definitely like to know how other BE's feel about it. I know that unlike many other crafting professions, not all BE's have shops/vendors. Opinions?

This could theoretically help shipwrights.

Say goodbye to the people coming for one thing and buying off aother vendor out of curiousity...my BE vendor may bring in somebody, who then wants to see the loot vendor, chef vendor, dotor buff vendor, combat medic vendor, etc. Those sales will die off if compulsive shopping is made obsolete.

It will also kill a few lines from the merchant tree and make decorating or possibly even having a true vendor house pointless. It will virtually eliminate "drive by" traffic to other shops in a player city when the customer comes to your shop from the map, since now nobody will need to visit the player city at all. Say goodbye to taxes for player cities on items purchased and shuttle ticket sales. I believe this will make player cities even more empty and virtually kill the economy of them.

How do you figure? We already have to undervalue our goods due to competition - And that competition to THIS point has been word of mouth, Spam, or Trade forum. Now, someone will be able to go to ANY bazaar location or Vendor, and search the entire galaxy for the cheapest price. A weaponsmith for example has a lot of playing room in their pricing to benefit from this change. Onmy server, the AVERAGE Vibro knuckler sells for around 285cpu. Even if paying premium prices for resources, they can still drop their price by 75%, and still make profit. I charge 3cpu for a Chassis, and even THEN, there are others that undersell me. This turns competition for our goods into a test of how low you can charge and still make any profit.

Where is our ability to drop pricing to compete? In essence, the ONLY Shipwrights that will be able to compete if and when this is implemented will be a Shipwright that mines their own resources exclusively. Since many of us do NOT mine our own - We as a profession feel the sting as well as every other crafting profession.

I'm just wondering where the 'instant delivery' thing some people (dunno if it was in this thread) haven mentioned. 'cause I'm sort of assuming that the search/buy function would work as ordinary bazaar terminals, ie. you buy, get a wp, go pick up your buy.

EDIT
Never mind, saw the insta function. Everything but that about the vendor search looks good to me. I want my shop
/EDIT

(also, yes, I'm allowed here. ^^ Alfi is my MBE )

I love the search functions. Even with all the bells and whistles that the merchant profession gives you its still hard sometimes to let people know you exist and what services/products you provide. If all vendors have the search ability though then that makes many of the high level merchant skills pretty useless. It would be better if it was a master merchant skill or something like that.

I am pretty new to BE but I am already having problems with customers hounding me for BE pets when I have decided that I am only going to specialize in tailor tissues. People see my vendor or see me in the planetary listings and assume that I sell everything that a BE can make (too hard to do it all IMO). With the search function hopefully people will be able to find the products they are looking for without having to hound crafters to make things they don't want to make.

The instant delivery functions I have mixed feelings. Many player cities, like the one I live in, are designed around a vendor mall area. If one crafter is doing a really good job and attracting lots of customers to his/her vendor the other crafters in the city benefit from the increased traffic. On the other hand, many other player cities are more reclusive and having unknown playersof different factions coming and going is a source of irritation. You wouldn't have to worry about where your city is located in order to increase the traffic to your city. But for that matter, you wouldnt really need player cities at all except for maybe the city specialization.

Cheers,

I can't wait to be able to actually find the BE tissues I need without running all over the galaxy!

Thank you from a launch day crafter!

Galaxy-wide search/pricing is a GOOD idea.

Galaxy-wide automatic delivery is a BAD idea.

Allow people to purchase items from private vendors via the bazaar, but REQUIRE them to go to the vendor to pick it up. Or if they're bent on the idea of auto-delivery, then allow individual merchants to charge a delivery fee.
