I'm new to BE profession, currently only 0/4/0/0, and I'm finding it a challenge to plan out a good template for myself. I want to be able to hunt and harvest my own meat, so I would like to keep my maser pistoleer skills. I also would like to keep the artisan skills I currently have to be able to harvest my own Flora. Not to mention the ability to sell my goods which means keeping the merchant skills also(currently 4/0/0/0 merchant)
So my template goes something like this:
Pistoleer 0/2/4/3
Scout 2/0/4/0
BE 4/4/4/4 (eventually)
Artisan 0/0/0/2
Merchant 4/0/0/0
Anyway would just like some input from all the Master BE's out there. How do you do it? Thanks

I am Master BE / Master Doctor with the exploration line in scout which gives me 4 skill points leftover. If I need to survey for something, I drop the top 3 boxes in exploration and pick up novice artisan. I sell directly to chefs most of the time, but if I have stock that didnt sell, I sell it to a merchant and he marks it up whatever he wants.
The meat I use in my components is mollusk/crustacean meat.

ch 4/3/1/2 ( planning to master )
be 1/0/4/2 ( pets are my passion atm )
pistoleer 0/0/4/2 ( prolly drop all but novice but I'll miss stopping shot)
and whichever tree of marksman is pistols
you asked
not to yoink your thread but I'm a noob lol, when can I drop the prerequisite skills? do I need to master be before dropping the medic? same for marksman, must I master pistols? (no chance of that)

You cannot drop pre-req skills for a profession, unless you drop that profession.

You're stuck with medic. Solly.
My template has changed over time.
Master BE with all the pre-reqs. Used to have master medic but I slowly gave that up as I mastered pistols.
Used to have pistoleer but gave that up for creature handler. Creature handler was decimated by the nerf bat but I mastered the profession anyway.
Took artisan so I could get a vendor and climbed a ways into merchant. I have a merchant that brokers my products for me now so I gave up artisan.
I am no longer a master CH but I do still have enough to train mounts and I can call two animals at once. I am in the process of climbing the rifleman profession. Rifles and animals are a good combination.

This is my template:
BE: 4/4/4/4 (Master)
TKA: 4/4/4/4 (Master)
Scout: 3/0/4/0
Medic: 0/0/0/4
Artisan: 0/0/3/0 (Business +1 Vendor)
I like it because it allows me to hunt my own meat which I use obviously for chef and tailor tissues. Also, the business lets me use a vendor to sell my things. I had to drop Exploration IV, but with use of Jawa Beer and some BE enchanced clothes I still have the same mild success of sampling mutant rancors. Also, I dont think I will go back to Carbines or Pistols because I can heal all of my own wounds, disease, bleeding, and poison through TKM. Gonna keep this setup for a little while.

It was very tough to decide. I was going to give up the meditation line and in retrospect I should've. My reasoning at the time was that, I wanted to get easy DNA without having to buy buffs.
When I do this I need meditate and powerboost.
... but my stats are migrated for about 400 on health and action and maxed on mind. If I migrate my stats more evenly, I could probably survive without powerboost. Guess I'll test tonight
... and yah, I came up 3 skill points short of picking up novice merchant. I could've dropped to 1040 scout, but can a BE survive without Mask Scent? hahaMessage Edited by rahbert on 01-31-2005 03:19 PM
yea i can see that... but i dont think i want to lose any more mask scent for the moment... the +30 loss in exploration IV is quite enough. i had to drop exploration IV for business III and i am back up to where i was (skill mods for mask scent) before with the be clothes and all. not too bad, havent noticed too much of a difference or anything. still can sample MR's at a decent rate... ya know, 1 sucessful... 10 failures... 1 sucessful... something like that.

Hmm. Keeping in mind I think I posted this before in the CH forums (similiary question)...
Here's my "template". If you are at all interested in combat, this is not for you. Also, if you use a vendor... don't try this at home.
I am...
Master Bioengineer (BEs Represent!)
0004 Medic
Master Scout
Master Creature Handler
0030 Ranger
I can proudly say that the feared Durni is a White Star "consider" to me. I savagely wield my sliced, powered up CDEF Pistol and C12 grenades, combined with the occassional trap, to save myself when I find my pets have been overwhelmed and I'm too tired to burstrun. But there is a method to my madness...
I'm largely a pet-oriented BioEngineer, although I am willing to make phat cash catering to chefs from time to time. Scout tells me whether or not I can tame it (in which case, I usually can kill the baby after sampling the adults to death), CH gives me a readymade "group" of my BE pets, and Medic lets me do some slight healing of myself. Ranger I took largely to track down the pets I need to sample... since (until recently) I was unaware of static merek spawns...
I'd like to have some combat left, but... the above template leaves you with 0 SP. And I deny the "alt" concept.
