With the new patch and the egg harvesting changes I have had some success. All Rangers have the +100 mask scent that comes from scout. I then bought a shirt and pants with +13 Camo/+13 mask scent abilities to add another +26 to my mask scent ability. I then jump on my speeder and harvest each nest/hive/animal home that I see on my radar. Some of them do not provide the option to loot it, but for the most part it either eggs or nothing. Here are the stats:

Nests: 40
Option not available: 11
Empty nest: 3
Eggs in nest: 26

So with 26 nests that provide eggs and the average egg harvest value of 13.

26 X 11 = 338 eggs. For about 15 minutes worth of work. (wasn't timing myself or trying to do the test really fast. Also was on a speederbike.

So with this method you should be able to provide a service to Bio Engineers who are looking for eggs.

Correct. The devs made the change with this patch. So far its either eggs or nothing.

Nope, first and only time I tried tonight I got creature samples (Yavin)... the BE in the group and a chef friend I was talking to always got eggs or nothing though. Must be my Bothan Ranger -20 luck skillmod

Hehe.. Yeah, that was part of the new change -- that we could search a lair more than once. I think 7 was my max.

We still get "samples", like bats or glowzees.. but there's a higher chance of only finding eggs now. That's the other part.

I stopped at around 1200 eggs, riding from Bestine to Mos Eisley searching every lair along the way. Much slower than creature harvesting, and still slower than gathering milk on some planets. But a definite improvement.

Yes let me revise. In the 40 times I tried never got the flies or animal samples. But now after hitting up more lairs I did run into animal samples. Next time I will take a larger sample size before posting. Sorry about that. But the strategy posted does work well. I am starting to like getting eggs, now if I can find a BE on my server that wants eggs.

Yeah, it's a really small chance. I know I didn't gather more than 20 samples. (out of doing enough searches to gather just over 1k eggs).

One thing I noticed, sometimes you'll get the "You didn't find anything of interest" message, but you can still search the lair again. So, I just kept "searching" until it didn't come up on the radial menu anymore.

I heard they were making the change but you know these things, I don't believe until I see it, or my ranger friends tell me lol.
Good, I seemed to clog my inventory sometimes with bugs. Has anyone milked anything yet? I thought I read that harvest would go up.
