Thread: Question to BE's!
Im now taking up chef and already have my 12 point suit, and have been looking at the prices you BE's are getting compared to what the chef's sell their food for and am thinking that offering you more for the tissues would probably lead to more sustainability in the long term while I could still charge less for the foods than other chefs on my server.
For example there is brandy which is selling at 210k a crate, so even if they were offering 50k a crate for the BSN's, which I doubt, thats 160k of gross profit, then take into consideration costs such as power, maintenance, resource harvesting (say about 0.5cpu if you do it all yourself) which comes to around 10k a crate for brandy due to casks and trim etc. This works out at 150k of Net Profit per crate for the chef!
Just puts things into perspective!
yeah chefs really lower the hammer on BEs when it comes to pricing....but its because they can, really. Enough of them have BE alts or BE hookups or BEs that make schematics that they dont HAVE to pay an equitable price for their components. That being said, 50k a crate is a decent price, unless you're paying 100 cpu+ for your meat
And I might aswell help someone else make a living while going about making one for myself.
Contact me in game if you are interested, I sent you some tells earlier but got no reply, I think I might be on your ignore list!

Well Im looking for someone to supply me with about 2 runs of BSN's and 2 runs of INN's that are 85+ and 115+ each week and was thinking if I payed more theres more chance of them sticking with it.

IMO if you're needing that kind of quantity then you'd better be paying a lot, you're effectively tieing up 2 whole factories permanently.
It's more likely to be one run of each a week.
I dunno, back when I was a BE I was happy to have a queue. Sometimes I had a 3 day waiting list for additives because there was no way I could sacrifice and heavy harvester for a factory. The chefs didntmind and i didn't either

yes, you only just noticed this
Basically combat profs can bring in around 1 million creds per hour, if you have a good product they need, yiou can charge the earth. If you have no product the combat profs can use directly you'll find it harder to make any money. If you make more addictives, you need more good resources, so you probably need to contract a ranger who is used to selling meat to docs for 100cpu, hence the cost of a factory run sky rockets.
Real world economics don't work in this game. Maybe one day when the game reaches its potential and money isn't so easy to come by, they'll create a new server where the economy doesn't get flooded by endless credits.

I still don't follow the logic here, can you please explain to me Nancy why you would have to charge more if they want more? Buying in bulk guarantees more money for the seller and therefore a lower price (hello sam's club). Are business philosophies thrown out the window in this game?
Assuming I have only 2 factories and I get an order for 2 runs of BSNs and INNs per week then effectively I cannot serve *anyone* else.
Factor in that Tailor Tissues are more profitable per unit but slower sellers and the fact that it would effectively shut down by business - cant stock vendors if the factories are permanently running custom orders then consider the risk involved, if I shut down my shop to serve a single chef at regular prices then not only would I lose out on a *lot* of money, what happens 3 months down the line when he decides he doesnt want to be a chef anymore, I'm left in the lurch and have to start up my business from scratch ![]()
Buying in bulk is not always considered a blessing to the seller, you have to consider the effect on the businesses reputation by buying all their stock.
If I have fully stocked vendor and 10 people visit my store in a day and they each buy a few crates each, they have each seen a well stocked vendor and may remember it next time they need to go shopping. If this happens day after day then the shop gets a reputation for being well stocked and is more likely to attract business.
If visiter #1 buys 3/4 of the vendor stock in one go then it leaves very little for anyone else and the vendor gets a reputation for being poorly stocked therefore ultimately harming the business in the long run.
Whatever you think normal business philosophies are #1 is having enough stock to meet the potential demand.
