Thread: Bio-Engineer Bug List
Hello everyone. It amazes me daily how many bugs are in the Bio-Engineer class so I have finally decided to list them. Add more if you like, but try to stay on topic. Thanks.
1. There is no /sampledna command button in the Ctrl-A window. We have to make a macro ourselves.
2. Sampling the DNA of cloned creatures in your inventory gives a crazy amount of xp. Big exploit here folks.
3. DNA sampled from baby creatures and from cloned creatures is buggy. The stats you get are outrageously high and makes some very buggy creatures.
4. /sampledna is the ninja weapon of choice. You can kill any creature, no matter how powerful, and you can do it right in front of his friends and they won't get upset.
5. If you are making your DNA template and get a critical failure none of the DNA samples are lost.. just hit the button again.
6. DNA samples are not always used up when you use them to make a DNA template.
7. DNA templates are not always used up when you clone a creature.
8. The type of creature you sample for DNA appears to have little or no effect on the stats of the DNA sample or the end clone creature. A red con ronto sample can have worse stats than a light blue womp rat sample.
9. The stats on the DNA don't seem to matter a lot. This may be a perception error but the outcomes of DNA templates seem extremely odd. Considering all the other bugs its worth looking at.
10. Experimentation seems to do little, or nothing, to improve the end result creature.
11. Tissue Engineering items have no description. Their purpose is a mystery and many suspect they do not give their intended bonuses when a use is found.
12. Bio-Strength Formula and other "syringe" products may be the rumored buff items that Bio-Engineers were rumored to be able to make, but they cannot be used on a creature, player, or anything. As far as I know they cannot be used in any recipes either.
And finally...
13. Bio-Engineer is a half-implemented profession and needs dev attention desperately.
Scorus
I guess it's a bug:
I sample a creature
My friend kills it and harvests it
I get DNA
I don't this was intended
Works well with Cloned critters and friends that are CHs
How does this happen?
When I sample a creature, it dies. I cannot harvest any hide or meat from it at all.
Is this a bug?
Sampling takes like 10 seconds, of longer...
I give a Creature to a CH friend,
He tames it and releases it,
I hit the sampleDNA button,
He hits the attack button, it dies,
He harvests it,
My sampleDNA finishes.
Aw, did you have to tell them about the critical failure in the template bug? Oh well.
I'm having trouble taming my bio-engineered Tybis. This is probably a cross-reference bug, but here it is. It says that I have too many pets in storage when I only have one, or none. If I don't have the skill it should just say so, like it did when I tried to tame the Bluurg. I brought taming up a level to see if this would help, but it didn't. Is it my skill? Or are the Tybi bugged?
You get a lot of exp from sampling your own creatures yes, but this is not an exploit, think about it. You need to trek around and kill 5 animals (for novice level animals that is) get their dna which takes forever, if you want to talk bug, talk about the constant failing of dna sampling even when you raise sampling up past novice. Anyway, 5 dna samples, plus meat, flora, etc that you have to gather or buy, a lot of resources into one pet that no one even wants, the max I have gotten is like 1300 points from my own creatures, this is not BIG time exp when you think of the time it takes to make one creature. Also what difference does it make if you instantly kill an animal with your friends? they can not get exp from it, nor do you aside from the sampling exp, they can not harvest an animal that dies from sampling, they can't shoot an animal then you kill it with testing cause you can't test on an animal in combat. There are some bugs yes, but a lot you list here are erroneous at best. Personally if they remove harvesting of our own useless creatures, then I'll just sell my points back and try for full creature handling. Cause following around an animal for 5 or 10 minutes just to get 100 or 150 points of sampling experience is the pits. I am NOT saying make it easy, what I AM saying is raise the time it takes to take a sample, or increase the chances of success to a point where it's fair, after all, when a scout kills an animal does he have to wait an eternity to harvest it's corpse? Or does he or she have to stand over it for 5 minutes trying to get the resource they are looking for? nope
The class is buggy yes, but nerfing the wrong things about it isn't the answer.
What I'd like to know is why can't we sample a dead creature instantly just like a scout can harvest one? Then flag the creature as 'sampled' so it can't be done again.
This way Bio Engineers can group with friends, and we won't have these insane delays, however we'll still have to "work" and kill the creatures.
You could even leave in the old system in some form for the non combat Bio Engineers.
Other issues and bugs:
1. Mobs untamable due to 'datapad is full' error: Tybis, Bolle Bol, Snorbal, Bol, Blurgg. I don't know about CE IV Mobs. Brackaset has no Examine stats (no resists, resource type, ferocity, etc info).
2. All non-HAM stats of creatures are 400.
3. Incorrect/Innacurate reporting of Experimentation %'s when they carry over from the initial reporting to when you hit 'Experimentation'
4. High tendancy for 'fraidy-cat' creatures. They also seem to be more "stupid" (harder to teach commands).
5. High experimentation %'s for aggression and prowess, but none for mental and physique. I made some runs today and actually made a few with fairly even %'s throughout. Was this patched/hotfixed today maybe? If so it still doesnt work as it should all the time.
6. BE'd creatures _should_ be better than ones found in the wild to create a desire for them. I really am not seeing this. Example: Bolle Bols in the wild have 8500ish HAM, and can hit for 290. The best I've BE'd has 7800ish HAM and hits for 260 damage.
7. Very small desireablilyfor our creatures from otherplayerdue to the existence of easy-to-obtain kickass mobs in the wild.
8. Buttloads of mobs in the world, but very few we can create. I'd love to see some more variety.
I just made cloning 3 and here are some MORE animals that are bugged just like the Tybis:
Bolle Bol
Snorbel
Bol
Now this is getting highly annoying (oh btw blurrg from clone 1 is also bugged like the tybis)
The animals I am making have insane crazy stats (yes this bug was mentioned but I have to complain) making me useless because the animals attack delay is SO slow that its worthless.
I do sell the animals pretty good when I CAN make a decent one but its very few and far between.
I really hope this gets fixed really soon.
Tybis and Blurgg bugged where they won't go into your datapad even if you have no stored pets. Gives "No room" error.
People able to /tame or sample pets that you have dropped in your house.
You got the other ones I noticed.
