This is on the CH boards, so if this is going to bore you quit reading now please.

There seems to be 3 different types of people that read the CH boards

1. Buys BE pets and uses them proudly

2. Would not use a BE pet if it were free

3. Thinks that a mediocre BE pet costs 500k and walks with a limp

So I shot my mouth off and said:

If you want a pet that has ar1, 60 kin, CL 40 or less for 100k or less... I will will find you one.... just give me the server and name.

Was this challenge out of line?

I personally sell these for 60 to 80k and can turn a profit of 1 million some days so I know that this is not out of line, but if they take me up on this, I will not be able to do this without your help.

This is one of the posts. I am calling his bluff:

....................................................................

I have visited more empty BE vendors than all other vendors I've visited combined (all other vendors, not all other empty vendors). The BE vendors that actually have something on them are either wildly overpriced, have pitiful selection, or both. In my galaxy-wide search of BE vendors, with me hitting every vendor listed on the map and wandering into random houses looking for more, I've found three or four vendors worth actually browsing.

I gave up asking BE's about custom pets after the umpteenth "I don't do pets" or "check my vendor" (which has 7 kaadus, a level45 graulfor 225k, and a level 85 kimogila for 4 million). Now I just keep wandering into random houses and hoping.

....................................................................

These posts are common on the CH boards and will continue till challenged

"I don't do pets" or "check my vendor" has certainly been my experience.

I have some cloned pets, but I've decided to become a BE and make them myself, precisely because of the statements above.

here's another one for ya: "I only do level 10 pets"

Few BE's bother with dna because tissues sell well for them... fewer still bother with "high end" pets that can only be sold to MCH's instead of level 10 pets that anyone can buy.

when I do find a vendor it's either not stocked because everything worth having sold quickly, or it's full of outrageously priced pet (over 200k in some cases), or it's full of "trash" pets that no one wants.

the fact that BE's have had "bad" experiences with demanding "customers" doesn't help the situation much.

(guilty as charged)

Agissar and I keep a good selectionon our vendor of pets across all levels (well, the high end stuff sells fast). As I recall, our 30something to 40something pets run about 80k. We keep over 90 on our vendor, and 10-20 on display near the vendor.

(edit) Oh yes, and for level 30+ pets, if they don't have armor on them, we recycle them. Most of the level20-30 pets have armor on them as well.

Cool, but what did you think of my vendor?

(and yes when people ask me about buying pets I refer them to my vendor. I live in a research center so I only craft when I am there and put the pets on the vendor after crafting them)

CL40 and light armor with 60% kinetic. That would be a hybrid then and my price for something like that is 80k. So there you go, people don't always overcharge. Mind you if this was CL50 rather than CL40 it'd far into a higher price band and be 150k but even so a C70 hyrbrid from me which isn't custom made to order is only ever 210k at the most.

I just made a CL39 the other night with light armor and 60 kinetic. Not a bad pet, but not the best I've ever seen. I just made master a few days ago and I'm still trying to get the hang of this. But, I'd consider selling that one for 100k. You just need to shop around.

I'm with Tal-N on thi one. My price for that as a custom order would be 60K-80K. The problem is that we cannot mass produce pets. Since we can't do factory runs of pets the way weaponsmiths do of guns, these are always going to be a delay in getting them the pets. The problem I see is that when I get a CH asking for a pet, they can't stand the wait.I talk with them find out what they want, quote them a price and then tell them it will take me a week. (Usually takes me 3 or 4 days at which point Ideliver early)Better than 1/2 of them walk away from the deal when they I found out this isn't an instant gratification deal.I think they'll find the prices on vendors is frequently much higher than the custom order price. The decent pets on vendors are usually priced by the Merchant not the BE. The Merchantsprice it a fair amount higher because 1) customers will pay more for instant gratification 2) they need to pay for the vendor 3) they want there own profit margin 4) the customer gets to see up front what there getting 5) decent combat pets sell of vendors like hotcakes at fairly outrageous prices and 6) they can.

most of my pets are between levels 20-40, almost always have at the very least 50 kinetic, sometimes i makethem with ar1, usually make them with strong/med disease, strong/med poison, knockdown or dizzy whenever i can (not just special orders), rarely any with health below 7500. i sell all of my pets myselfeither through shouted advertisement in a city (yep, still do the leg work) or through my vendor.i've neversold them for more then 76k. (and the times i've sold over the 55k area i could count on one hand)

Definitely some supply and demand at work, I believe. It seems that the number of MBEs has decreased over the past two months and, as I'm finding out, it takes a while to get up the ladder far enough to replace them. That also contributes to the empty vendor thing as well, they're just selling off what they have and not restocking.

If you're in it for the money, you'll do better on tissues and stimpaks. I find that type of crafting boring; I'd rather go hunting DNA and see what the slot-machine kicks out. But I'm not in it for the money. Playing farmer, selling milk and trainer pets, pays for my costs. Missions grab enough resources and usually more than enough credits. At the end of the day, week, or whatever, having a ton of credits in the bank isn't going to make my life any better. Having a good time playing will!

I just made two cats for a guy. one cl39, light armor, 60 kinetic and one cl31, light armor and 60 kinetic. I charge 1.5k per cl so the first pet was 54k and the second one was 45k. I don't have a pet on my vendor priced over 100k.

In answer to your first post. I generally have at least 2-3 pets with AR1, CL <35, and at least 50% kinetic in my vendor at all times, in addition to a lot of other interesting pets. My prices range from 50k-75k for CL 35ish pets.

In answer to your second post about CH's whining about not being able to find BE's with good pets and empty vendors, I can't see as that phenomenon is at all unique to BE.

I've quit using the global map entirely because nearly all vendors in EVERY category are, if not empty let's say neglected. Food, armor, clothing, harvesters, medical supplies, you name it. BE is no different than any of the others. I've spent entire days of play looking for something as mundane as a large chemical harvester. I've sent /tells to a dozen architects with no results. Some say they'll do it but don't, some say they have no intention of every carrying or building such a thing, and some simply blow me off. How about finding a really nice set of armor. Heh, good luck if you don't already know of an armorsmith. You could visit every single vendor on the map (and I have) and end up with a crappy set of mabari for your trouble. But do I go and **edit** about it? No, basically I have no reason to **edit** because each and every person out there is playing a game the way they want to for their own enjoyment. What you have to do as a consumer is identify those very few who enjoy providing excellent products and excellent service andCLING TIGHTLYto them, and TREAT THEM VERY WELL, because you have to remember, the only reason they are doing what they are doing is because they enjoy it, and the second that enjoyment stops, so will they.

For CH's to whine about that is just rediculous imno. It just shows their lack of understanding in the game and its economy.
