Thread: Good dna for PvP pets?

Hey all.I am recently concentrating on creating good PvP pets for myself and my friends.I made one from all death head dna(post fix).It does 580 damage, has .44 to hit, 40% resists to all, no armor and only 7.8 k ham.I put all my points into damage,so it has the low ham and no armor. My strategy is to be more offensive, so I prefer max damage to max ham and resists.

I was wondering what kind of dna anyone else might be using to make a PvP pet,and what kind of stats they prefer.

Also, does armor really help for PvP,as most players probably use an armor piercing 1 weapon?

Thanks

for PvP what you need most of all is resists to Energy (almost all ranged weapons), Heat (Flamethrowers), amd Electricity (Lightning cannons) and good special attacks more then actual good damage. The Merek's Deaths head is actually VERY good for special attacks since it has Strong Poison and Strong Disease. The Strong Disease is practically useless in PvE but is a nasty thing to inflict on someone in PvP. Knockdown / Dizzy is the other good PvP combo (even though the Kncokdown special doesn't really work right now that will get fixed eventually). I would throw in some mutant rancor or bull rancor DNA to boost the resists other then kinetic.

If you're looking for a pet with lower stats in 30's Grassland Voritor is a good sample. Has produced 60 against Kinetic and Energy. 30 for all but acid. But I'd almost rather have a weakness for acid than many others.

I found that bark mite burrower gives the best PvP resists .I made a bordok from 5 burrower samples. It has AR1, 10.8k to all 3 HAM bars, 60 kinetic resist,40 to energy, and 80 to acid, heat and electricity. It has .49 to-hit and 370 damage with only strong disease as a special.

It came out at cl 50,and I think it'll be a good pvp pet when it grows up.The only thing I think is lacking compared to a wild cl 50 is damage.Damage is WAY below a wild cl 50.

Going to see if I can get the damage up and add poison by placing 4 burrower dna with one death head in aggression. This will lower resists some too, though.

And thats if I can find any death heads.

Barkmite and bloodseeker mites are great. They are solid across the board but with cold and blast vulnerability. Since blast damage isn't that common it's a nice trade off and most cold damage weapons are pittifully weak. Mantigrue are good as well, nicely well rounded for the most part when you look at the screechers and reapers. I think the hunter's are quite decent too as I recall. Put simply though the command damage types to protect against are heat, energy, kinetic, acid and blast.

My only problem with bark mite dna is that I have trouble getting good damage.I am going to try placing one death head dna in the aggression slot, but I have a bag full of burrower dna and I havn't found a dang death head since I began looking

Leave deaths head alone, the effectiveness resists will really screw the protection the clone has. If you want higher damage try something like a mantigrue reaper.

Yes, I'm posting screenies of my gurrcat again...his damage is only 320-330 if I remember right, but the resists are a nice trade-off...you could maybe pair him with a CL 20 with ranged and really good damage...combination of bark mite burrower, bmb queen, and mantigrue reaper(queen, burrower, reaper, reaper, burrower) with strong disease as one of his specials...

Here is my recipe, but I dont totally remember what went into it:

CL59ish Kimo (kimo skinned critter made on request, possibly to lag or annoy pvp opponents into forfeiting)
~12,000 HAM
AR1
40% KR, 60% Energy, 100% heat/cold/electricity, 60%ish Acid I think, 40% blast, 30% stun - no vulnerabilities.
Strong Poison, Dizzy
480 - 490 damage, .55ish to hit, 1.98 speed.

Recipe:
1st gen: Mutant Rancor, Mutant Rancor, Something, BBQ, Rancor Youth.
2nd gen: 1st Gen, Something, 1st Gen, TMB maybe, 1st Gen.

TKAs shouldnt have too much trouble with it, neither should commandos because of the flamethrower DoT. If ranged would have stuck on the second generation critter I would have been happier. Ive already sold this one, but I have a similar kimo and gurreck available on Scylla if anyone is interested.

Here is my monster. I made it and gave it to a guild mate. The best clone I have ever made.

I don't remember exactly.... I remember it was a second gen of a pet that came out to CL73, a combination of (I think) Mutant Rancor and Gaping Spider Queen (before they lost their armour) DNA. If memory serves, I used 4 Mutant Rancor DNA in the first gen and one GSQ, and in the second gen used two clone samples and more Mutant Rancor.... I think I left GSQ DNA out of the final combine.... you can see the results... a truely magnificant cat.
