Thread: Effectiveness resists are NOT being calculated into the CL

OK, I've been trying to document why we're seeing such insane result from certain clones and yes such reasonable ones from another. But first of all here lets drop this whole what is the fair and what isn't routien, this is about what is happening within the system. Basically this started off with me trying to track down buggy dna, seeing if there was a genuine fault with specific dna. The more I looked though the more I started seeing that there is different degrees of what I call a flaw in the system (personally opinion here, you might not see it as a flaw)

The first thing I started with is simple logic here, if you take 5 samples from the same animal then reguardless of whatever discounts the bio-engineer gets to the CL rating then you'd see a curve of some kind. What you do see though is varying degrees of reductions in the CL from donars that are in the wild similar CL ratings.

Just to establish where I started here I was looking at mobs which had even resists to everything (or had a couple vulnerabilities) and with or without armor. Someone suggested taking a look at the mountain squills on Tatooine, so I did. Took 5 samples, experimented up the mental, prowess and physique. The result? CL15 from 5 samples that were CL43. By complete fluke I then came across some desert razorbacks again they have even resists and then a couple vulnerabilties. Once again the result with experimenting only on the HAM as much as posisble the resul was a CL13 clone when the razorbacks are CL24. Also when you do this with the kahmurrith snapper which is CL44 you get a CL25 clone.

Then to see if I could find someting similar i took 5 samples from Giant sand beetles. They're CL30 and I got CL22. When i looked at the sandbettle I realised something though, its got mainly all of it's resists in effectiveness but energy is in special protection. This would seem to explain why your seeing the clone results for things like snapper dna and the mountainsquill ect. which are actually around 50% of theCL they should be. So what makes up the other 50%? Well just my personal opinion but I think that HAM is being ignored, why? Well you can experiment it up alot and it doesn't seem to matter, however if you touch the damage and general DPS then you see drastic steps in CL rating as it rises. Also in the wild you tend to see that HAM and resists rise at near enough the same pace. Things at the high end inherantly have alot of HAM and some fearsome resists, however at the lower end up have nearly no resists and hardly any HAM. That might mean that Keldarin was cutting some corners and hoping to let the resists and damage account for the CL ratings. Frankly I find that a bit cheap since it would make it impossible to trade resists for more HAM.

Also check another thing, special protections don't increase with experimentation. Yet when you have ANY effectiveness resists it can be experimented higher and you see it up date in the window. Feel free to try this yourself, it certainly explains why you can take 5 mutant rancor samples and actually find it exceeding CL75 when you experiment up the HAM alone. It's because all of the mutant rancors resists are actually special protections.

I suggested the Squill as a replacement for kamurith cause it's got nice accross the board stats (30% in everything but heat and stun) and hopefully avoids the kamurith issues. Another interesting one would be mountain squill guardian.

One correction though,Mountain Squillsare CL 34, not 43.

You sure? I noted down 34 and did check it several times. Hang on I'll check the screenie I took.

Sorry you'd better double check, the mountain squill is CL34.

  • 10k of HAM

  • 30% effectiveness kinetic / energy / blast / restraint / cold / acid / electricity

  • vulnerable to stun / heat

.. as i said, your seeing that with creatures such as this your lossing a massive 50% of what the CL rating should be. Now thats just an estimate, there's a slight deviation up and down in some cases but it's more or less half. The more resistances they have as effectiveness rather than special protections the further the CL becomes from the donars. This still doesn't explain what is up with clones which are made with armor and all effectiveness dna, their damage is maintained as if they were still their original CL.

LoL sorry, I'm not veryawake. I mistook my mistake as your mistake and it turns out it's my mistake and your correcting it.

I'm still quite stunned though. 50%, I never imagined it could be quite that far off. I suppose everyone is going to be hunting down animals that have effectiveness resistances now eh?

LoL

Too bad you can't sample the Blurrg raptor, it's got all effectiveness resistances and medium armor. Peko Albatross has energy effectiveness so thats would give you a huge discount to the CL. If anyone still has some left over dna it's going to be quite handy. What was the point of having resistances fall into two different catagories anyway? All the armor guide says is that special protection overrides effectiveness resists, but I don't recall armor actually having the same damage types mentioned more than once.

Effectiveness also has the chance of increasing 1-4 pts in the final combine.

I had something odd happen the other day when i was playing around with some Merek DH dna. I usually experiment til the pt right before light armor hits. Then i'll even out the hams, and dump the rest into the last two categories ending up with a decent lvl 23 9k ham pet.

This time I failed one time on aggression, and it lowered my resists but didnt effect anything else. This allowed me to throw a few more pts into the hams. Ending in a lvl 28 pet with 12k hams.

Only difference between these pets ended up being the 3k difference in the hams. Is the 3k difference what added 5 levels or was it the fact that I failed an experiment?

Whenever you fail an experiment you typically see some fairly funky results, Fairchild had a whole string of failures with a normal clone leading to a CL11 Jax with 11k of HAM which I found quite shocking.

I capped out on Physique on one clone and fell short on AR1, but thenhad a fail in mental and Phys popped over 500 (ding! AR1). There are some very strange results in this system...

Another odd thing. I called85 levels of totally natural, wild born Rancors the other night, 2x 30 and 1 x 25. tonight I tried but they'd rolled over on levels and I could only call my normal cap (70).

SWG should be renamed to Bug Wars: Developers Divided :/

I think you'll find sometimes when you cross a server boundry with a pet out then it causes a hiccup resulting in the maximum CL being reset or something. It's similar to the bug which allowed people to call a huge number of pets previously as well, remember the screenies with folks controlling a herd of around 10 kaadu?
