Im not sure if they are even in the game anymore but the few I hunted with groups as a noob required us to use an at-st to take the bird down. What kinda pet would you BE's think could take the pounding and last through a battle with a Peko Albatross? Sorry I dont have the stats on the Albatross, any info would be cool even if this Bird isnt in game anymore.

Thanks

Since a Peko Peko Albatross is a CL 155mob, you'll have to have much more than a pet to take one down.

Yea, I kinda figured. But i only need the pet to survive/tank not actually deal the damage and I wouldnt dream of soloing a peko albatross. How long doyou think a Kimo would survive?

An interesting note: as a noob I shot at a peko albatross and after dieing in about .2seconds I spent the next 2 months staying away from ALL Peko Peko's cause I thought they all packed as much punch as the Albatross .. LOL!

A CL 70 pet (any pet, not justa Kimo) has about 13K HAM. The Albatross has 90K HAM with Medium Armor, does 1550 damage, has an Attack speed of 2, is immune to kinetic, 80% resist to energy, and has no vulnerabilitites. I figure your pet would survive about about2 minutes (if my math is anywhere near right which I don't know) if it had Light armor and 60% kinetic resists.

Unless you want to spend alot of time shooting at it from a distance as a master rifleman, I think you will need a few creatures to take down a Peko-Peko alba. So your best bet is probably 2 or 3 CH with high kin res pets, and a few riflemen and/or commandos to deal the damage. A doc would be good too, since the albatross has a mean knockdown and dizzy attack (I know from personal experiance ). And provided you can keep the pets healed and prevent the albatross from going after any of the party members (especially the doc), you should be fine. Now all you have to do is to find the rather elusive fowl

And it has a habit of making your pets run off like rabbits.. didnt albatross have a nasty aoe attack?

A master CH with 3 of the common CL 23 9500/6k/6k tanks with armor and 45-50% kinetic should be able to do this. I would recommend gurrecks or other very fast movers, as the pekos tend to fly away when injured. Stack up a few 1K+ pet stims, and rotate the specials from the pets; anything that reduces damage taken (stun/intimidate) and poison/disease (this will be a long fight based on the HP you are facing, so those will have a chance to do some damage) as well as any bleeds you can get in. The pets will do some damage, but it it really the player with a ranged weapon that will do the takedown.

If you have a smuggler with feign death, give them the stims and let them get in close to the pets, then feign until they need to pop up and heal.

This will not be an easy fight, but if it was going to be easy, why bother?

I think a single CH with good healing skills, ranged weapons and a lot of mind enhancement (get dancer and musician buffs, toast to the impending battle with brandy and fishtak, and keep a bottle of muon gold in your back pocket)could solo one of these with some very good pets.

VERY nasty AOE KD/Dizzy that can wipe out entire hunting parties.

This can be done with 2-3 elite combat types, an MCH or two, and a doc and CM. The doc can be one of your tanks (TKMs can tank a alb, but can't really do much damage) as long as they can break free for rezzes and state heals and then the ranged guys or your heavys swordsperson do most of the damage dealing. The critters are also there to try to hold aggro. CM tosses poisons and AOE heals (preferably M poison to work with the riflemen and heavy sword guys).

A few weeks ago my PA had an incredible run of 10 albs spawning about 2k E of Keren on Ahazi, and the M pool was consistently the thing that brought the alb down. Albs are notorious, however, forflying away at high speeds and dragging you into aggro lesser spawns like maulers, veermoks, and shaupauts, and then of course into non-aggro types like gungans and faction NPCs who inevitably get targeted by mistake and turn into aggros on the entire hunting party.

Alb hunts can get wild and crazy very fast.

Channon: Yeah, right. Take advice on relationships from a man whose ex-wife won't come out of cryonic freeze until he's dead...

Spider: Who told you that?

Channon: You did.

A pause.

Spider: Silence. I am watching television.

Took a few of these down the other day about 1k north of Kaadara. 1st one was just me (Master Pistoleer/Expert BH)and a novice Doctor. Was rough as hell and the doc died during the fight. The last 3 we took down had the aide of another BH of my template and went much easier...until the end when the other BH's buffs dropped. Fun experience.

me and my CL70 Kimogilla, buffed and feed buff food was going hit for hit with it, and we did get it down to 1/10 its heath...then it furking poofed on us, thats been happoing sense that new teleport thingy they have to keep people for sticking creatures, they should have just made the collsion on creatures the size of a player, so even if there bigger they would fit

Scary mobs? Come now.... I've tanked kryats for about an hour, and I've dropped Albs in far less time... All you need is a buffed brawler (TKM/Fencer are choice, but Sword and even Pike can do) with 80% comp or high ubese and you can tank these things for hours. The biggest problem with the Albs is that (as a commando) they keep getting out of range for flame single... :/ Forget riflemen hiding and using conceal shot, run right up there and hit it with that AP2 600 DMG bird tenderizer (sword kicks behind on Ar2 mobs).

Bottom line (and this coming from a many month MCH) is that pets aren't really that effective of tanks anymore on mobs like these... It's gotten to the point where players can tank much more effectively. Really though...not too much reason to hunt these guys...feathers don't go for that much and RIS was a bit of a letdown to me at least... Time better spent trying to outdamage the kryat parties as a CM/Rifleman if you ask me...
