Thread: BEs dropping like flies?

I'm curious, have any of you noticed a trend of BEs dropping the profession following the patch? Two other Master BEs in my guild dumped it over the complexity of the new cloning system, and I'm getting pretty close myself. While I was looking forward to new and useful clones, the cloning system went from fun to work.

I further had a customer this evening who told me she'd contacted several other BEs looking for clones, and all of them had either stopped making clones, or were dropping their skill tree -- again, over the complexity of the new cloning system.

I know a lot of you are enjoying the mystery, i.e. trying to figure out exactly how the new system works, but I hate it. Right now I'm emptying my supplies, doing factory runs on my final batches of stims and tissues, and plan on activating my first holocron. At least I don't have to worry about it telling me to master BE...

l just dropped it today, got tired of clicking the button just to make decent exp. Mind you i'll keep tissue 2 until i make a few hundred stim b's. Personally i think alot of BE's (myself included) got tired of a broken system, one minute you experiment and it does one thing the next it does something else. Maybe once they actually fix it and everything gets figured out i might take it up again but atm its not worth the hastle.

Dropping like flies? Nope.

I've noticed alot more BE's since the patch, however I have heard of many old timer BE's dropping. I plan to stick around for a while, even though I too find the new system frustrating at times. Pets is what I like to make the most, and having the bugs in the system doesn't help my enjoyment, however I still prefer the new system over the old.

I wouldn't say "dropping like flies", but I would agree with "trend downwards".

Though I am seeing some new non-holo BE's popping up, Naritus is really hurting for Bio-Engineers right now. There's seriously probably less than 5 Master BE's out here who are active. Though this server has always had a tiny number of BE's, the few I knew who stuck it out this long have now dropped skills in persuit of little blue cubes or just plain stopped playing. Demand on us few left is so outrageous, I had to blow off all orders and take a couple weeks break to gather myself. Hopefully this is a phase, and our numbers grow again!

There was a guy that used to post on Warcry with that moniker, just wondering if your him?

I agree I'm not so sure that we are losing that many true Master BE's seems to me we had a lot of holocron BE's that stuck with it for a while and now that new wore off the are dropping it. I have also noticed a trend towards specialized master BE's. For instance we have 3 in our guild , 1 makes pets only, one makes a little of everything, and I am a Tissue and stimpack guy. Think that may have to do with the lack of pet making out there.

I'm not a Holo-BE, just a multiple account paying fool.

I started my BE back in September I think.. with the idea that clones looked fun (once they were fixed)and the tissue line would be a good complement to my tailor. I didn't actually get the last couple of boxes until right before the December patch.

So far I've made pets for myself (3rd account is a CH/ranger)and a friend. It was definitely fun at first, but at some point my CH will be master and be "set" for pets. Then I would have to look to selling BE pets as something to do. Unless we get a little more documentation (or at least the CL level showing as we experiment!) I can't see that it will be all that much fun. The uber non-CH pets screwed up the expectations of that market completely. With the droid revamp, maybe everyone will just want droids? I could work on some good recipes for 2 and 3 pet combos.. maybe with enough practice I could product them reliably.

I am interested to see what value add we will have for chefs after the next patch. But I guess that will be more of "create a schematic, run the factory" type job.

So I guess I'm not sure what the future holds for me and the BE profession. But then again, this is the general problem with SWG.. you fill out your template, run out of skill points, make your millions of credits.. and then what? Chase holo-professions or PvP I suppose.

But back to the original question.. I don't know if BE's are exactly dropping like flies.. but I do know that until the CL level shows on the experimentation screen, making pets is not something I'd enjoy as afull-time job.

I would admit that being a good BE is more like a job than entertainment.

Octavius, I'm a BE on Naritus... non-holo induced. I've been trying to master merchant (yes, holo induced) and I wanted something worthwhile to do while I had the vendors, and being a former Master CH, I decided to go the BE route... And I will stick with it as long as I can, I'm really enjoying myself (despite not knowing what the hell I'm doing )

I am currently 3/1/3/4 and going for Master. I've started to make a few nice pets; even sold my first with 31% kin resist on a lvl 19 (i think) bol for 30k! Happy happy fun fun!!! I wasn't planning on doing the tissues, until our guild leader did Master Tailor (of course, holo induced).... but she is quickly dropping it so she can be more useful on the battlefield (what with IG and MC constantly attacking Justice ) so I'm undecided as to whether I should just concentrate pets or do some tissues and sell them on the vendor.

If you do need to take breaks from time to time, I wouldn't mind a little business my way ... and any help a fellow Naritus BE can give would be greatly appreciated

I sticking with it. I like making pets, well did. Now they work. I do not take orders. I tinker now making them. It to much BS to make pets now for other people. People no longer care like old time of either damage or HAM. Now it this that and everything else and I miss making my 12k ham rancor and 700damage. Yeah yeah yeah. New system you get to play with stats. Let me know when can make a level 50 pet with 700 damage and have Ham left in it. The new system the resist should be a in there with no thought same as attacks. But I sticking with it anyway. There is still so much they could do with the class if they think out of the box but still use the KISS methode (keep it simple stupid) I just say when asked " no I don't make pets". SInce doing that I have enjoyed the new patch.

Ijust find a good recipe I like, stock up on it, and carry the final templates around with me. I can make a pet on the spot in whatever skin/color they want. I don't do non CH as I haven't found a recipe yet that I like.

I sell two models, a CL30-33, and a CL60-63, in any skin of the customers choice for 75k.

That way I know exactly what to go sample and how much, exactly what to combine and experiment, and both recipes make fine pets for a master CH iether pair or single, or a novice CH that can use a CL30.

Other than that I just make some house decorations occasionally for free. I only sell to people who see me using these pets and ask about them.

I don't find the system terribly complex at all. It works relatively straight forward except for CL calculations which only really matters for non CH pets to me. It must be for most though as I see ver few BE pets in use and 80-90% tamed pets still when I'm out sampling.

I like the proffesion, I'm a master CH as well, but wil have to drop BE soon to go do the holocron grind anyway.
