Since the noob starting location has been switched to Mos Eisley, I've been going there once a week and handing out mountable pets and regular Non-CH pets. I'm just making them out of yard trash so they are only 1k HAM. Since I have Nov CH I can tame them and teach them a few commands.

This will also work for the up and coming Nov BE. Rather than toss aside the pets you make, give them away. If you don't have CH, try to hook-up with a Nov CH who can go with you and tame/train for you. You both get experience and help some new players, possibly making new friends.

For the BE without hunting/combat skills/abilities, this may be a way to build a base for getting the meat resources you need. I'm not saying cheat or hoodwink the new player but this is an untapped resource. Offer to pay a decent price for decent meat. Again, you are helping a new player and getting your much needed resource.

This is also a great way to destroy the creature market for those novice BE's that are actually trying to make money off the profession. Its no different than giving away schematics for chef and tailor tissues.

If you are just going to give away animals for free why not resample them? Sample yard trash and make gnorts, resample those gnorts for the xp and make more gnorts. At least you get something for your trouble instead of giving away resources and time while hurting the market for other BE's.

Money is so easy to come by in this game, even for a noob fresh off the shuttle. A BE has to come up with an insane amount of meat. Let those novices make a few bucks so they can buy some of the meat they need.

Spaz,

Make a lot of money off yard trash pets do ya? Who cares what she does with Yard trash pets, true she could sell them on the Bazzar for 6k a pop, but she views the connections she will make as more valubale. If she is endangering someone's business then they have a sorry business indeed.

This is not a malicious act on her part, and her limited exposure on one planet cannot compete with a Bazzar YARD TRASH BE.

Besides, if she drives the competition out of business by some magical phenomanon then she has the market cornered andshe can charge a million credits a pet.

Also she is an MBE and is doing this to help noobs and if you have been playing since the begining you might rember when people used to do nice things like this. (before they killed you with 3 rancors and 2 AT-ST's and put 3-4 fire dots on your burning carcus)

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

I am working a new BE toon on TC and I bag up all my yard trash pets (or nonCH pet attempt failures) and hand them to a friend who is working CH. Re-sampling cline is practically worthless for DNS sampling XP but giving that same clone to a CH will net them 400-1500CH xp (depending on how many commands they can train). If you don't know any CH's then put them on the bazaar (*clearly* labelled as CH xp trash pets) for like 500 credits each or stick them on a vendor. If you have a freiend working merchant xp then three classes can benefit.. you get sampling and crafting xp, the merchant gets merchant xp from CH's buying the trash pets at trash prices, and the CH gets CH xp from training and releasing them.

There used to be a guy here on this forum who would always boast about giving away good (non-yard trash) pets to strangers (and then there's the guy who advertised yesterday he was selling +85 bsn for 17k on my server... but I digress), and I and others always resented that. But I think this is a little different. The reality is that CH's are always going to be offering free "junk pets" (I see them all the time at the starport spamming about that) and when you stop to think about it, it's probably a net benefit to BE's because it introduces people to them, and gets them hooked on pet stims and wanting "real" pets.

It's really no different with anything else. I still recall as a noob when someone offered me a free low-end gun that did like twice the damage of my cdef and I was so thrilled to get it, lol. That was my most prized possession for like a week, lol. Then more recently I created a new toon on another server and almost immediately got offered free bone armor, low-end guns, and stuff like that. I guess I can see the distinction between someone offering valuable products for nothing in a misguided attempt to be "nice"and somebody offering nearly worthless, but useful, products to somebody new.

an insane amount of meat... hmmm I have to let that soak in.

This is not so much of a concern if you are not grinding. you can get the meat you need as you go along at a normal pace. By the time you master BE you will have gone through a lot of meat, but by no means do you NEED 250k of meat when you start off BE, again, unless you're grinding. I have no pity for grinders I guess, so shoot me.

Ok, I'm testimony to giving away pets for future business. When I was a young BE, I put yard trash on the bazaar for cheap. most were darn usable pets, and I gave many away. I wanted my name on them and i wanted a LOT of them out there. Eventually by the time I got halfway through BE I was getting orders I wasn't ready to fill yet. Then I put up a vendor and sold much better pets at 1k per level flat price. I made millions. By the time I was master I had more orders than I could fill and my vendor was always running low. Still I kept my 1k per pet price, with special uber rush orders a bit more. Eventually, I was being offered crystals and other gear in trade for my pets cause I simply didn't need the money and didn;t want to let go of some of them.

Bottom line? It pays off later to get your name on pets, and the good will you show to someone will eventually return if you are dilligent and patient.

Also, I did not run anyone out of business because I met too many master BE's who also made killings with totally different marketing strategies. The world is a lot bigger than most think.

I know of Cindal because she plays on my server. I know her intentions are from the heart. I've given my fair share of freepets to new players I've met. My reply to her post is not a flame.

No I don't make any money off of yard trash animals. Simple reason is because I'm a master BE and I don't make animals out of yard trash. I did however make money off yard trash animals by selling them to novice creature handlers by the pack load. Tame, train, release. Its a viable monetary option to novice BE's.

There are novice BE's that are actually trying to sell pets. Why would you encourage people to give free pets away to people who may have bought pets from that novice? In that caseyou won't complainwhen I give your chef free tissue schematics? It makes a friend for me and the chef may come to me and buy more of my product. Nothing wrong with that right?

I'm doing couple things with my weak or messed up pets (like when I end up with 2500h/350a/1800M):

Really weak stuff I don't train.. I sell em on the bazaar as decoration (or I've done "zoo collections" for people). (Pets haveing around 65-300 HAM)

Moderately good stuff I do two things (300-1000 HAM) - I either stick them in the bank to make a mount out of them later or I sell em on bazaar.

Good stuff (1500+ HAM) I sell on bazaar or I use em as a pet to get some xp.

Mind you I just found out today I can resample them for DNA so I might start doing that hehe

I'm not a new BE, I'm a master, but how I got started on sales was by selling pets as decoration or TrainNToss on the bazaar. I'd then send a little thank you note by email directing the customer to my vendors. Same with petstims; I went to places like endor and dathomir and sold my stims on the bazaar, and directed the purchaser to my vendors. (i chose these locations as there are no Player vendors handy, and if you want something its the bazaar or a shuttle ride, little or no competition). I've gotten a bit of business this way; not as much as I would like, but I am hoping word-of-mouth will take care of the rest

Technically you never need to use junk DNA or animals to sample.
Even at novice you can sample fairly high level animals (Voritor dashers are my favorite. At sampling 1 I still only get average quality samples though... -_-)

Personally,i try to get the money i gave to meat out of selling pets, but as just a 1-0-1-0 BE,the pets you make are quite...worthless,anyway,i toss em on the bazaar for about 200 creds,250 if they've got a special attack or something like that

I just started up a new vendor specifically for "display pets"; a custom order vendor with directions to the customer on how to contact me and what type of "display" type pet they would like, with specific notes that these wouldnt be "combat worthy" and priced to be very affordable. I have always had a little Jax stationed near my vendors named "shopcat" and figured if its good enough for me...I got a tell the other day from someone who's wife loves Gualamas and wanted one to show off, stats didnt matter. I had a blast running around just grabbing junk and (after four crit fails lol) made up a special pet with the chosen name and color. Very nice change of pace from "armor, 60% kinetic" that I usually get. Had so much fun I wound up giving it to them for free, along with another "furniture" pet to show off Now, I dont know if there is actually a market for PA halls or homes for furniture style pets that just stand there and look good (there used to be, but guild BE's etc might have already filled the need) but its a nice change like I said, and might a) fill a niche or b) give an appreciation to the "good" pets on the other vendor, might even spark an interest in CH for a few folks who knows.
