So i have collected some really low quality bones... i go kill something else and collects it's bones, and i see that it goes in the same container as the first bones.... are the new bones automatically of the same poor quality as the first bones? do i have to destroy the first bones to have a chance at getting good bones?

If it goes into the same container then it is basically the same type of resource. I believe that for each type of bone (animal, avian, etc.) there's only one "random seed" used in harvesting on the planet at one particular time. So if you want better quality bones, you'll have to either harvest a creatre with a different type of bones, go to another planet, or wait until it starts generating a different random seed of that bone resource.

Greetings all! This is my first post on the Artisan board because I'm trying it out for the first time. I look forward to trying to make high quality items to share with other players!

I have a question regarding resources that are sampled. Let's say I want to build a CDEF Pistol. It needs a certain number of units of Metal to be created. However, when I use my Mineral Survey tool, there are numerous types of metal that I can find. How am I to know which is best for making a pistol? I know that all the resources have different stats, such as Malleability and Overall Quality, but I'm not sure what difference it makes. Does a higher quality metal make a better pistol? If so, then what about using copper, or aluminum, or steel?

Please forgive me if I'm missing something obvious! I appreciate all of your help!

Look in the schematic of the item you're creating, it will list some of those attributes that are listed on the resources as well...

Those are the values you want high on the resources you use. And if nothing matches up, go for highest overall quality.

Like for your CDEF's, overall quality and conductivity are they key... Copper is usualy a good choice, but make sure you use the best one, there are very bad coppers out there, at least for making blasters. For the chem component, they seem not to have any conductivity stat, so just go for high quality.

Hope this helps!

http://www.swgcenter.com/resource_tree/resources.asp

That is a work in progress tracking the statistics and availability of all the resources in SWG. We will have planet/server info live for the section shrotly. I hope it helps you in some way.

Very nice site! I can see when the database is complete it will be a very valuable resource for crafters. Thank you!

Awesome! That is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!

I have another question now, however. Does the copper (and other resources) on different plantes have different stats? I mean, if I find some of the best copper on Talus, is it possible that it's not as good as the some of the copper on say Naboo?

Yes, you'll also find that as your skills get higher, you will find a need for more specific resouces...

Lower recipies need just "metal".. then you go up to "non-ferrous metal".. then "copper", then "specific copper"....

An elite proffession crafter will probably find him or herself traveling to different planets just to get the resouces they need...

Unless someone decides to start up a business importing resources. Personaly, I don't have the time for that.

OK, that's cool and all, but how are you to know on what planet has the best copper? Or do people usually not worry about it and just get what is available on their current planet?

Ok Question is....

When crafting lets say a house,I know that they need a ton of Low-Grade Ore,Can any ore be used for that?

Same with metal, can you use steel instead of aluminumn?

Me and my partner are running a resource supply buisness and we were debating the above questions tonight because he found a good yield of aluminum but we already have 2 steel extractors going and I dont want to mine aluminum if most things can just use steel in place of aluminum.

You follow what I am saying?[I hope so ]

I was mining some Extrusive ore but because i dont know if you could use any type of ore for low grade ore I switched the harvester over to ETO Ore from Ditroheium Extrusive Ore.

I hope someone can help me out here since this affects what we currently are harvesting and I dont want to mine ETO ore if they need to specifically have Extrusive ore.

It depends on the schematic, most low end ones just say mineral, or metal but in some cases they get more specific, non-ferous metal, aluminium, ditanium steel and so forth. All the information you need is in the schematic
