Thread: New BE with a Challenge for you Masters
You answered your own question. I believe the CL10 and light armor are mutually exclusive. There are several key determinants for CL. None of us know exactly what the formula is but there are several who have it almost figured out. If you are willing to invest some time searchingthis forum, you will gain a lot of insight.
Anyhow, one of the key contributors is fortitude. While I have gotten CL10 creations with fortitude over 300, I have yet to get one with fortitude over 500 (this is the point at which light armor manifests), even with critical failures on other key attributes.
I *believe* based on my experiences and collaboration with a few close BE colleagues that the days of the light armor 2200 ham mountain krevol are but a fond memory. If that sounds short of a full "it can't be done," it is. Nobody, not even SOE apparently knows for sure.

bummer.
OK, so if I change the equation to take out light armor and maybe make the HAM more on the lines of 3000/3000/3000, would it be possible?

Cut your damage in half, and the creature is easily do-able. Most of my non-CH pets are around the lines of 4000/3000/3000 HAM, with 10-14 Kinetic resist, 35-40 to 55-60 damage, with a couple of specials in there if I can get them to stick.

Translation: I need the recipe, but don't know how to do it or don't want to spend the time to do it.

I disagree with you Arthur. I think he's asking if something is even feasible before he breaks his head against a wall trying to do it.
I object to discussing crafting pets and duping credits/items in the same breath. Not even the same sport.

Hey all, I'm a new BE and I have a challenge for you MBEs out there.
What I'm wondering is if the following pet is possible (approximate stats), and if so, how would you make it:
- CL 10
- HAM ~ 3000/2000/2000
- Light Armor (most important)
- Kinetic Resists ~10-20%
- Maybe one other resist (energy, heat or stun?) in the 2-5% range
- Vlnerable to all else
- Special 1: Dizzy
- Special 2: Poison or Disease (strength not important)
- Ranged Attack: Not necessary but would be nice
- Damage: ~100
- To hit: .20?
- Speed: ~2.0
I think the light armor might be the deal breaker, but I would possibly sacrifice in some other areas in order to get light armor. Is light armor even possible on a level 10 pet?
I'm guessing this would be impossible in a single-pass creature, but might be possibleas a multi-generational pet.
Lastly, have any of you played around with the mynock and perlek DNA on Lok? I'm getting some pretty good combinations on first gen pets, but I can't really experiment them up or the CL goes over 10. Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't hit 10 on a first gen pet yet. Lots of 11s and 12s. I'm trying to tweak the recipe by working in DNA samples from other planets, but since Lok is my home, I'd prefer not to.
I've made better, I've seen others make much better. Light armor is deceptive and misleading to people who don't understand it. If you have 60%Kinetic resist it is equal or better than having Light Armor and 20%Kinetic resist. Light armor only cuts down 50% of the dmg and the equation does not stack resist, it treats it as another part.
Damage is taken, halved by armor then multiplied by the inverse of the resistance. Take this instance of Light armor w/ 10%Resistance compared to 60% resistance when going against a 1000dmg hit.
1000 * 50% * .90 = 450
1000 * .40 = 400
Any BE can tell you resistances will not shoot up level like Armor will. Against AP weapons you're going to wish you had better resistances than armor. So yes BEs can make pets much better than that, it won't be the exact stats, but they will be more effective in battle and be more resistant to attacks.

no interest. What you are in essence asking is if someone can find some loophole in craftingsystem that would create such a thing. Kinda like asking people if they can figure out how to dupe credits or resources.
I'm sure there is in fact, I just have no desire to spend a lot of time looking for it.
Why are the profession boards so xenophobic and quick to criticize? I have no idea.
At any rate, your post and trojan's posts are absolutely ridiculous. If you had even BOTHERED to check some of my posting history (my oh my, there's a lot of it to check!), you would realize I'm an exceedingly helpful and mostly kind poster. Stop attributing bad motives to people without any facts. Have you ever heard of giving someone the benefit of the doubt? Comparing my question to a request on how to dupeis the height of absurdity.
Nemthang had it exactly right - I was asking if it's possible. I explicitly stated I thought AR 1 would be the deal breaker. But, since I'm obviously and admittedly not the BE crafting GOD that you are, I figured I would at least ask. There are some pretty amazing things being done out there within the current (though obviously in flux) cl 10 parameters, so I thought I would ask whether it's possible to sacrifice a little on the HAM and other aspects in order to get AR 1 in a cl 10 pet. I did a search and couldn't come up with an obvious answer. Most of the posts on this subject were old and didn't seem to take into account multi-generational sampling.
The first people to respond were kind enough to point out that it isn't possible. Your comments, on the other hand, were nothing more than an attempt to throw stones. I don't know anything about you, so I'll just assume that you were having a bad day rather than assume you are a complete and utter a ss.

Animi, when your post is lebelled "a challenge for you masters" you are not asking a question so much as encouraging people to attempt to make such a creature. Do you want an answer? Yes, I'm betting such a creature can be made, or as others have said, maybe much much better then the one you list.
I'm not going to BOTHER to read your post history. I'm just not that interested. And I'm not making any judgement on you as a poster or as a person, just on your post here. But sorry, I just feel that some BE's have caused a lot of problems in the game by selling some really rediculous creatures that we all know to be very bugged, and your post, whether intended or not, just throws more gas on the fire and encourages behavior that is very destructive to both the game and our profession. And I stand by my comparison to duping. Someone that spend a lot of time looking for a way to make such a creature with the intention to profit by it is no different at all then someone looking for a way to dup resources or exploit any other bug in the game. Is there a grey area here? yes, there certainly is. But lets not kid ourselves into thinking that such a thing is not a bug in the code, it most certainly is.
