Well, the holocron has spoken, and I must now become a bio engineer. I know very little about the profession. Any thoughts or advice?

Ok, I'm glad you feel that way. What a great entrance into the community.

I may be changing professions because of the holocron, but i'm open minded. If I like the profession I'll stay. Thank you for the warm welcome, can't wait to get started.

not that i agree with loomis' post, but you couldnt have expected a warm greeting when you admittedly only want to join the ranks of BE to master the profession as quickly as possible and have no real interest in it.we have recently (since the first BE holocron surfaced)seen an influx of posts asking for macros, andsoon after peoplehave mastered the professiontheybegin asking for cloning advice, having never tried it, just to make a quick buck. no offense, but weve seen a lot of this lately and you must understand how it could get obnoxious after a while.

its the devs fault for makins FS such a retarded process... its not, however, your fault. you just want to be a jedi which i totally understand and you are more than welcome to come and ask questions and make comments and suggestions and cite problems you have and just BS here.

before you ask anything just make sure you search for it first because there are a ton of great posts about how to do pretty much everything in this profession.

other than that, welcome!

P.S. does noone else find it odd that holocrons only tell people to become the least populated professions? hmm...

My condolences. The devs hate us. They tease and then they jerk that carrot away. Wild lvl10 mounts...grrrr!

Well, if you're lucky you'll witness the birth of the cloning changes. If so you might never know why we've been complaining for four months. Course, if all you plan to do is grind micronutrient supplements you might not care.

(Starting to think about locating the CH dev's house and turning all his dogs purple. Ha! Take that for messing with my prof!)

If someone has no interest in being a BE, but has to become one to have a shot at Jedi, which does interest them, why give them crap? They are putting in a lot more effort at their choice than you are.

a) people who change professions from what they were having fun with before because of a holocron are dumb...

b) even those that finally change professions a zillion times until they get a 'quiet' holocron, will 99% of the time not open the FS slot anyways, thus your work was in vaiin

c) I'm tired of seeing every frickin new person come in, say 'a holocron sent me here, help me' without trying to help themselves first.

I suggest that every holocron-moron follow c) very closely, search the boards, do what they want to do, and move along. Only those of us that really care about the professions will still be here after you open your next holo.

Well, if you are just passing through. I will give you this advice. Before you start go get a medium/large harvestor and novice artisan (or have a friend do it) and get as many flowers as you can. Then put another one on wood and gather as much as you can. Now, before you give up any of your combat skills. Go out there and harvest your self about 80,000 meat (Be sure to keep an eye on your harvestors so the resource doesnt shift). After that you're ready to grind. From here you have 2 choices on what to grind:

Micro-Nutritional Supplement (start with this):

105xp per combine: 15 meat, 20 organic, 15 flora

or, Secnt Camoflauge (need to get to tissue II):

135xp per combine: 20 meat, 20 flora structural, 25 flowers

MNS, will take less meat by about 5k, but will result in 25% more combines. Its really a toss up, just do what one you prefer. Btw, do your combines away from a crafting station. Once you are a 4/4/0/4 BE head to a cantina and get your self a musician buff (Anchorhead was always a good place for me), after you've buffed your mind stats, go out into the wild and sample the most giving xp things you can find. Rinse/repeat as needed and before you know it, you will be a MBE.

I've got to admit that the current status of this profession make it completely worthy of grinding through it, like driving through Kansas on the way to California. I'm all for Holocron victims getting through it as quickly as possible on their way to Jedi.

Thunderheart said this lack of interaction is not a "big conspiracy". Obviously its not. But it is apathy. If SOE doesn't care about this profession, I can't get myself all worked up about it either.

I just wanted to make sure that those that are still calling me a moron and saying I'm just passing through actually READ my response. I obviously was careless in my original post, hope that doesn't bury me with you guys.

P.S. Thanks for the kind words SOF!

Thank you for the kinder words people. I promise to try not to be annoying while I am here. I DEFINETELY won't start yelling about what should and should not exist in the profession unless I decide to stick with it beyone force slot.

I don't know much about the profession or what it involves, so I really was just looking for any advice.

As for coming in and then taking off, I can promise you that not only do I respect ALL professions, going through the process to become master BE is not just a hurdle. It's PART of the game for me, and I will be very serious about the profession whileI am here.

Unlike a lot of the people you may have seen post on here, my intention is not to just pass through this profession with macros and AFK crafting (which I will never do either of), I intend to truly experience being a BE.

Thanks again for posting.

A tentative welcome aboard, and an apology for what you're about to find. Bio-engineering is an absolutely horrible profession unless, like most of us, you are naturally drawn to the kinds of things we do. It is incredibly demanding from a skill-point perspective, and gaining the skills in the tree takes a massive amount of time, money, resources, and patience. Plus, a lot of what we're supposed to be able to do is broken.

Again, Welcome Aboard!

Poor, poor Aglanon Welcome to the profession of the discontent and bitter. The beaten down and trod upon. The totally forgot. Do yourself a favor and grind through. Don't stop to look around, just close your eyes and grind. If you stop and examine what the profession is really about you too will become one of the hopelessly bitter.

Here is the gind:

Create a macro called /sampledna because SOE didn't think to create one for us and in the months since the game has gone live SOE still hasn't created one for us. Go to Lok and sample the uberest critters you can find. Make sure you clone first though because you will die a few times. You'll grind the DNA sample tree in no time. Make templates in practice mode so you don't fill up your inventory.

Get as much meat as you can. Don't worry about the quality or type or anything just get lots of meat. Put down a medium flora farm on a high percentage spot. Again, don't worry about quality or typeor anything.

Get yourself three food and chemical crafting tools. Use the meat and flora you have and grind micronutrient supplements in practice mode. There are a number of macros on this forum that help with this grind. Its the cheapest way to grind BE. Keep all three tools going constantly.

Do these things and you will master BE in short order. Once you've gotten to master, use that second holocron as fast as you can. Drop BE like a bad habit and move on to the next profession. Hopefully it will be a profession that works.
