Thread: Bio-engineers ignored... again!! ( or SWGs Producer thinks BE is enjoyable atm)

Well i was reading through the letter from SWGs producer for things they are working on and pinpointing what is getting attention. Everything sounded like the usual nonsense about how they 'combed the forums' and discovered that one of the key elements they 'discovered from general guidence for the game' one which happened to be:

"All professions should be interesting and enjoyable."

... wow, what a breakthrough! And to think they had to wait 4 months to figure that out and actually do research on the issue. But that wasn't what really got me steamed, it was the bit further down the letter which pinpoints their top priority profession to augment (read as repair):

  • Professions Augmentations
    Droid Engineer
    Smuggler
    Merchant
    Chef

  • Yes folks, you reading that correct, according to SWGs lead producer the bio-engineers do not need ANY attention at this time. We're working fine it seems, we've got no problems that need attention. In their eyes our profession is 'interesting and enjoyable'. Well this just goes to show how much attention they give us, now frankly I only see two responses to this. Either a they do think we are fine as we are or they forgot about us when making an official letter of intent.

I dunno what is worse really...

Yea, a fixed chef could be a fix for bio-engineer too (did someone say milk).

I think the problem that we have as bio-engineers is that even though we are broken and have problems, bio-engineers tend to make a lot of money away. Not saying that is right but I bet it puts us below classes like chef on the priority list.

I agree that DE and Chef have some major issues. I did droid engineering at one time. An merchant isn't all that exciting of a profetion, with very little in it really (i have a charicter thats a merchant as well) But smuggler? whats wrong with smuggler? slicing works, spices work, the special moves work? what else do they need? what is broken?

I feel that bio-eng should atleast rank smuggler.

To tell you the truth, i would just be happy if someone like TH, the dev, or maybe our new corrispondent just said what is the state of our profetion... Are we getting anyting patched/fixed in the next patch comming? or are we getting it in the future? Any word would be nice.

Someone probably reported to him that bio-engineering was already fixed, from the programming aspect anyway. Now if only someone would come around and tell us that. Well, this was the same guy who reported that there were rumors of Jedi on the servers. Think maybe that he doesn't know the difference between what's been developed, as inwhat the developers report that they've finished, and what's actually on live.

I'm not exactlysure that what the chefs are looking for, but I am sure they are not dying for some of our enhancements. What I think theywant is their food to not mess up folks stats, nothing we really have anything to do with. I'm sure at this point, they could care less about our stuff until their regular food gets fixed.

How much money some of us makes should not be a contributing factor in when we should be fixed. Heck, some people might be a BE for a different reason other than tissues and being a vet.

I decided to be a BE from a very very early moment after things went live, and it was for one simple reason, clones. At that point, I had no idea that I would be making pet stims later on once it was added, which I believe was something to mask all the initial problems...to keep us busy so-to-speak.

In big issues, Chef needs their "killer" food fixed.

Droid Engies were pretty content until the probots got nerfed down.

I think smugglers are looking for getting a way to control slices..and the spices are in the same boat as the chef food.

So you basically have priority based on what was broken during patches and fixes. However, we have to deal with things that were broken from the start and continue to remain that way.

I love this class, and I became one to make clones - not be a pet pharmacist. I've had fun so far, and fortunately I have a solid group of friends and customers that keep me busy, but I can honestly say that I am started to become more and more disappointed in the lack of support for this class which obviously has many issues.

We were told to expect big changes and bug fixes last month, then this month, and now it looks like those promised fixes have just slipped over the horizon...

Not ignored, taking a long time, yes. You'll probably find that BE's weren't mentioned because our fixes are actually being coded. While, unfortunately, I don't have a timeline, I do have some extensive information from Keldarin on the clone fixes. There are just a couple points I want to get clarified in the wording to avoid confusion before I bring it to you guys. As soon as I have the clarification I need, I'll bring it to you guys.

I couldn't agree with this more. I don't measure my profession by the amount of credits I have in the bank. Its monopoly money so who cares how much you have. I measure my profession by how enjoyable it is to play. There are some aspects that are a lot of fun but there are many more aspects that make the profession a drudgery. The grind is tedious (so I don't do it), the resources to make some of our products is insane (what's the point of a factory?), now nerf the non-creature handlers to CL10 and the only animals I get to sell are mounts. Explain to me why there is 4 clone boxes again please.

I'm glad we have a correspondant again. Its great to finally get information SOE can't provide on their own.
