Thread: DNA sampling from live Kimogila's on Lok
the creature limit to my knoledge is cl75, I have been able to sample wild mutant rancors (70) and enraged rancors (75) I have yet to get a sample from anything higher than that. From what i have seen with the kimo's the creature lvl of it is no longer lvl 70. most likly they will remove the template from the BE line soon.

You could be a Master Ranger with fully enhanced maskscent and you still won't get a sample from a Kimogila - they flat out don't allow them anymore, no matter how good you are.
There are ways around it to test anyway. Send a pet of some sort in that you are not grouped with, and during that likely brief time that it is in combat with the Kimo, run up next to hit and hit maskscent. As long as you stand absolutely still when it comes out of combat, it will not auto-aggro on you. You can try to sample it then, but again, it doesn't work. Sounds like Enraged Rancor are pretty much the best bet!
I actually got close enough to try and sample a Kimo the other day. I was actually able to try and sample it 2 or 3 times before I put the probe in the wrong way and it got mad and killed me.
Anyway, I used masked scent (no enhancements) and got within 30m of it. Then I laid down and crawled upto about 15m. From there I stood up (you have to sample while standing) and tried.
G/L to anyone wanting to try it, it was pretty much a waste of time for me as I dont think you can get samples from them anyway.
Just last night I was running around Lok looking for Gurks for DNA samples and exp, when I happened upon a Kimo.
I got 1 sample and he bit the dust.
I used mask scent and approached as usual.
Actually did not know what it was at first (never seen even a picture)then got excited and looked forward to gettin DEAD, but to my surprise, I got a sample with no problems at all. Just wish I could have gotten more than 1 before he passed on.

im not calling anyone a liar here, but i find it hard to beleive that someone actually got a kimo sampe after the DNA sampling patch, unless they fixed it without telling us which is unlikely. i couldnt even sample DNA from kimo clones last time i tried.
its not a CL cap though. Kimo's are CL 70 and i routinely sample from CL 80 critters.

I have to agree here. If you did get one, it's a rare fluke and you'renot likely to repeat it regularly.
FYI, I came across a Kimo and Giant Kimo last night. The kimo was CL 90 not 70 and the Giant Kimo was CL 130 I think. Idon't remember as I was more interested in the cl of the kimo.
