Thread: Questions From A Soon-To-Be BE

Sorry about my last post, I hit thw wrong button...anyway.

I got somequestions about BE, I'm almost there on Gorath, and I just want to know somethings.

1. Are BEs able to experiment on creatures (ie. able to create non stock creatures)

2. If so...where? Where do we experiment, do we need a crafting station, or what, how does it all work?

3. Can we make creatures that aren't natural in the game? (ie a mix between a spat and a dewback, or something, a bantha and a dewback) By this I mean mix stats/DNA (I know the game will use standard models

4. How does a BE control any of his/her creatures that they make, if they are not a CH? (If I make a CL 25 creature, will I be able to do ANYTHING with it being a non ch?) Can I call it?

5. What is all this I hear about the new system on TC? Whats that going to do for you all, and soon...me?

Thanks guys!

oh my.

innocent blood?

seriously though, I'll try to help you out here

1) Experimenting with our creatures now does almost nothing, except for slightly change stats (by like 40 for an 8k HAM critter)

2) It works just like other classes, just need a crafting station. get yourself a droid with a food/chem crafting station, and go for it.

3) No, unfortunately we cannot yet (perhaps in the changes on TC we can? we aren't so sure) Basically no, we cannot.

4)Unless you have CH, you can't tame a thing. Thats why so many of us pick it up. Honestly, this doesn't make ALL that much sense, but this is SWG, no?

5) Well, the cloning system, as we have now, is nigh useless. We have, since forever, it seems, wanted some fixes to this godawful system of ours. We appear to be finalyl getting it, with many more creatures and the much improved ability to change/experiment with them.

These are short answers, but I hope they have helped.

This isn't exactly correct althought the intent is right. Anyone can tame a BE pet deed as long as the creature level of the deed does not exceed the owners skill. The animal is useless though without a creature handler to train it. For example; a non-creature handler can indeed tame a bearded jax or eopie pet deed without any creature handler skills because they are non-creature handler pets. The non-creature handler can not train the pet any commands like follow or attack which makesit basically worthless.

There is one benefit to taming a deed by a non-creature handler. A non-creature handler can buy a kaadu or carrion spat pet deed, tame the deed, let the animal grow in their datapad, give it to a creature handler after it has reached 60% or moregrowth, and have the creature handler train it as a mount. The cost for the mount is a lot less than buying the animal fully grown and trained.

So basically, we can't really make geneticaly altered creatures (yet, I hear of some awsome changes going on TC)

I need a food & chem crafting station for experimenting - got it

So, if I am a master BE, and I make a high level creature, I won't even be able to call it from my datapad??

Wow...

It doesn't seem fair to me...BHs get skill mods that pistoleers/riflemen get, why can't BEs get skill mods that CHs get?

As a master BE alone with no CH skills you won't be able to tame a rancor so it would never get to your datapad.

When you make an animal it starts out as a deed. An inventory item just like a shirt or a gun. It can be traded back and forth just like any other inventory item. Once the deed is tamed it becomes a live animal and moves from your inventory to your datapad. If you don't have the skill level to tame the deed you will get a message telling you so.

A bio-engineer is a middle man of sorts. We make tissues that can only be used by other crafters. We make animals that have to be trained by another profession before they are functional. The only end-user product we make are pet medications. Once you get over the initial shock of that reality bio-engineering isn't all that bad.

Thanks, thats perfect. I hear you can make some decent clothes too? Or materials to make clothes from, that offer some protection? Also can anyone from TC tell me how this "new" system works??

We can't make clothes or food items. We make tissues which are used by a tailor or a chef which enhance their products. These tissues are not skill tapes or mods and can not go into slotted clothing. They are a resource the tailor or chef uses to craft their shirts and food items.

There are a variety of tissues that enhance different skills used in different professions. Bleed resist, melee, taming viscious critters, mask scent to name a few. A craftsman must incorporate these tissues into their products for the enhancement to work. You can not make a tissue for taming viscious critters and give it to a creature handler for them to use. The tissue must be used to create a shirt or pants that the creature handler can wear. Only a tailor can make those garments.

The clone changes on test are very new and pretty buggy. You can read different threads about how its going but until the bugs are fixed I wouldn't even begin to comment on how those changes will work.

To make a cross between a kimogila and a snorbal would require a new creature model that the dev team would have to dream up. I somehow don't think we would be seeing this anytime soon (if at all).

There are a few threads on the new TC changes, just check some out and you can see what to expect soon.

Thanks guys!

So do the tissues sell well to tailors/chefs? Are those the only professions that can use them?

Tissues sell best to tailors. A tailor is not going to waste their time crafting product with inferior tissues so keep that in mind. If you wish to become a capable tissue producer I recommend climbing the Engineering Techniques tree. You will get more experimentation points. You have a chance of making very good tissues with not so good resources.

I know what you are referring to, but whats the inside joke that BEs have the 'farce'

Does DNA sampling kill a creature instantly or something?
