I was just wondering if anyone of you experienced BE's would mind helping me. I have decided to become a bio-engineer and i am currently 4-4-0-4, all i have left to do is the DNA sampling row, problem is i havent tried it at all. I was wondering if any of you could tell me where the best place to get sampling Exp is. Im assuming that i must need to start low, on small animals and what not, but if and when i am able to sample better, what creatures give the best exp. If anyone can help me out i would really appreciate it, thnx.

I would hang out around a newb spawn till you get sampling 1, then head to Dant and sample huurtons till about sampling 2 or so, then try your hand at pikets. Pikets are the most bang for the buck, don't have to worry about sneaking up on em, you just have to be sure you can successfully sample them most of the time. They give around 300 sampling exp a pop if I remember right, and spawn about 15 in a lair.

Cheers!

I sampled stuff around town until mid sampling 3 and got fed up and went to Endor. I started to sample Swirl Prong Enthrallers for 340exp and they are non-aggro. Regular swirl prongs are mid 200's and another type of Swirl Prong, can't remember name, is 310.

Does your CL effect the level of the creature you can sample?

For example if I am CL17 can I sample a Level 80 Kima?

If so, what is the max level creature CL17 can sample?

Thanks

Firstly you will never ever be ale to sample from a CL80, the cap on levels we can sample is 75. Secondly this is something that the comunity is split on, some say the higher your level the better chance you have of sampling from higher levels.

The main factor in what levels you can sample from is you DnA skill level the higher this is the higher the level you can sample from, personaly i never noticed my CL ever effecting the level of what i can sample, when i was cl30 i could sample the same things can sample now at cl58, all the extra level means to me is that creatures take longer to kill me whe i aggro them so i thus have a better chance of escaping.

I have been both cl17 and a cl54 BE the only advantage i see for a higher cl is you can walk on the noob planet with out being aggroed by red dot.

also if you are agroed by a cl75 that you are sampling it takes him to whacksto incap you instead of 1.

as far as sampling goes i have the same sucses rate at either cl.

For sampling in general i haven't noticed a difference. For sampling aggressives dependant on mask scent - i was getting mask scent broken almost every time at my own CL 31 by a level 58today. I grouped with a level 80 and wasn't noticed.

Seems that mask scent is dependant on your combat level difference (hence why grey cons don't aggro on you). This has an impact on sampling aggressive creatures.

I been testing this theory out today. I am a CL49 and walked around Dant sampling a few things. Mask scent would break within seconds of me approaching anything over CL 63/64 (somewhere out there). I then went to Yavin and tried my mask scent there. Breaks without fail on every red dot I come accross. However I then grouped with a CL 80 and went around Yavin as well. My mask scent still failed about 50% of the time, but there was a drastic difference.

Grouping with a CL80, even when they are on a different planet seems to up your CL as well. Those klikniks were hardly scratching me, and my alt was on Corellia.

The problem that I see with using a macro to get DNA sampling xp is that every so often, the critter that you are sampling from turns on you and bites you. This means that if you are going to afk sample with a macro - you will basically need a guard droid or pet (depending on your template) to protect you and hope that you don't die.

Also there is the problem of DNA not stacking and your inventory filling up.

As a guideline, small animals outside cities can net small amounts of xp at a time (is it in the order of 100 xp?), where as huge creatures of level 70 will give 900 xp but are very likely to kill you.

I have left dor sampling small creatures outside of mos eisley for a while in order to get FS xp and this is what I found. You run out of animals if you are not looking at what you are doing even if you /target outwards (command not right but you know what i mean) and /follow. Eventually you get turned around b/c the game doesn't target the animals that are not within your view even if they are there and behind you. I was crafting huf duns on practice to get rid of the DNA so it was let small animal DNA sampling macro run for about an hour to fill up my inventory, then craft huf duns for 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat. Doing that for about 10 hours a day (I was doing other things on the computer so I could check back often and unstick her), I was able to get maybe 40,000 medical crafting xp and i am not sure how much DNA sampling xp - maybe about 200,000 DNA sampling xp.

Personally, I honestly think that since scouting xp and DNA sampling xp convert to heightened senses xp, you are better off joining a hunt and getting scouting xp although that does cap quickly doesn't it
