I havent done it yet, but from what I hear -- or job is to Get a DNA Sample from the base so we can act as the owner. We use the Override Terminal and I believe we have DNA sequencing to match up CCAGGTAA would be GGTCCATT - I think - Dont know how much DNA sequencing I remember.

This is a confusing task indeed, I've done it once but it was not as I've thought.

It started with a list of about 8 different characters
Ex.
A
B
D
E
C
A

And after choosing a character you will (maybe) get a match clone and another character or characterS will appear.
Ex.
A <-- Choose
B
D
E
C
A
AB <-- Appears

And as stated before I though that somehow I was going to get a chain which is presented in the information like "CDDAEDCD" together, but after serveral failed tests I realised that all the single characters should be cloned to dual characters to complete the process
So a close to finished chain would be like this
Ex.
AB
CD
EC
CE
DA
AB
AB
DA
CE
A <-- After choosing this it'll be completed

That is my thought, 'cause after I chose the last single character DNA i was completed.
Just click like a madman and you're sure to be completed. Remember click them all, even the dual character DNAs

That is kinda how I did it the other day, I just started clicking. Once I got up to 20 or so matches, I stopped and went through each option I had. The last one I had was a single t and I got it at 22 matches or so.

Took about 5-8 min to complete.

There has to be some updated info on this please!

I am afraid you have it a bit wrong, there are only 4 letters. A, T, C and G. You basicly have to match up all the A's with a T, T's With An A, C's With A G and G's with a C.

eg.

A

C

T

T

G

C

would go to

A - T

C - G

T - A

T - A

G - C

C - G

There is a biological explenation to go with this which i cant be bothered to write out, but i will if you really want me to.

I'm a molecular biologist... I'll explain if you like

DNA (the "recipe" which all the cells in your body read to make them do the things they do) is composed of 4 bases or building blocks. These are known as A, C, T and G. DNA is made up of long strings of these bases and the order of the bases determines what a particular piece of DNA codes for.

However, DNA is not just 1 string of these bases but 2 and the 2 strings are joined together, intertwined into a double helix. The way this happens is that particular bases bind only to a specific other base. So A binds to T and C binds to G. The reason for this is just the chemical structure of the different bases (more technically A and T make 2 hydrogen bonds between each other and C and G make 3 hydrogen bonds).

Therefore the 2 strands of DNA are known a "complimentary" to each other - if you know the sequence of one strand you also know the sequence of the second strand

...ok I'll leave your thread alone now

Thanks Bill Nie the Science Guy!!! But you still haven't helped answer the question of what to do for it in game!!

So you get a window: says in ley terms what you basically said, has the sequence, gives a sample, then list a bunch of options/variables.

Ok so what do you do with the variables? Do they have to be matched up with the orginal sequence or the given sample? What is the sample for anyway?

Grrr I am just pissed because the serverdisconnected when I had over 20 matches!! Wish they would tell us ley people what we are supposed to do!! And make it so we can get it done in under 60 seconds like the other slicers can!! (Oh yes they can!!)

OKay, um, almost BE, and I couldn't understand what this was at all. So... what are you talking about? Destroying a base or something?

This was semi answered by others, I'll tell you how to do it, I've taken down 2 bases now. If I'mnot totallyrightin how to do it, its atleast worked for me in a quick fashion.

As stated, A to T, C to G. 20 matches and you win.

You are given many options to pick from if you scroll the entire way. You're going to always pick a single letter. NEVER pick the double letters, those are DNA you've already matched up.

When you get a strand, it will be anything from 4 to 8 letters. This is a very easy matching game. Match up A to T, C to G and vis versa. If you see CCGGC as the strand, A and T will not work. If you choose C you will get 2 matches from the 2 Gs in the sequence, if you choose G you will get 3 matches from the 3 Cs in the sequence. Further example, ATCAAGC. If you pick T you will get 3 matches, A will get you 1 match, C will get you 1 match, and G will get you 2 matches.

And remember, if all else fails and you forget everything, just remember to click on the single letters until you are finished. The double letters will not get you anything. The process is actually very simple.

Welcome *cough* Dirty Imp *cough*

Hehe, I'd hate to see all the work to get a base down stopped because you didn't know how to do the BE part. Once you figure out its easier than it appears to be you're set. Bad devs, trying to confuse the smartest crafting profession in the game.
