I was out harvesting shellfish when I get a tell from a player asking if I could make him a pet. I asked him what level he was interested in. He replied "level 10, or 9, or 8." I told him that I could accomodate him (I keep a few level 10 templates with me to whip out non-Ch pets as needed). I then informed him that I do charge for the pets.

He offered me a bol in trade. I explained that I make pets so I don't need to take any in trade. He offered me 200 credits. While I was trying to craft a diplomatic reply he upped the offer to 400 credits. I explained that I charge at least 15K for a non-CH pet. This obviously shocked him as all he could say was "What?".

I sent him on his way telling him my prices were firm, but perhaps another BE could accomodate him.

That is very funny. Sure made my morning. hehe : ) I like the "While I was trying to craft a diplomatic reply he upped the offer to 400 credits." portion.... too funny ....
I have had similar offers although not quite as low.

I wasn't yet master, but was close. I was hangin around Coronet, with my Genetist title on, shoppin the bazaar for meat.

I get a tell, "Can you make a Graul?" That should have been my first warning sign right there, but this was my first request for a pet, and, well, I hadn't made one yet. So, I ask him what kind of stats, level, etc... his response was "A Graul with good stats". I actually told him that I didn't have any DNA to make a decent one. After some more tells, we got to price, since I didn't know, I figured I'd give him a deal, and say like 20K, cause I knew I couldn't make a decent one quickly, hadn't made one before, and it would be cool for me. His response...

"Well I can get Grauls from my friend for 5K each"

All sorts of words came to mind to respond to him, but I decided that I would just say nothing to him.

Wow, all you guys sell too cheap. I can't beleive people want a pet that is uber and is going to last months for half the reward of a mission that pet could do alone. I guess I am used to dealing with higher end clientelle. I don't plan on selling any pets for less than 60K. It just takes to much time, skill, and knowledge.

My standard response to people who complain about the price? "If you were really ready to play with pets as good as I can make, 60K (or whatever price) wouldn't seem expensive to you at all. Feel free to call me when you get to that point and I will make you something nice."

ANYBODY can do 8 lowlevel missions in an hour or 2 and make 16-20K. If they aren't willing to put in that much effort topay forthe pet, why would you spend that same amount of time making it for them? Most higher level players can take 7-8K missions and could make the 60K (or a LOT more) in about the same amount of time. I know I can, so I can spend 2 hours collecting DNAand experimentinga good pet for you, or I can spend those 2 hours doing missions and earn 60K. Its called "opportunity cost" and is a well known concept in business. Don't let people beat you down. Know the value of your time and stick to your guns!

for a very average CH pet 2k ham across the board 10% kinetic, 20k isn't bad I guess. But if you want a good one, expect to pay more.

My stock non-ch pets with 6.5k/3k/2k ham fly off my vendor at 100k each and I do custom orders of them for 75k (less because of the guaranteed sale and I'm getting tired of arguing with people that hate seeing 3 figures and a k for price, heh.

Coming from the other side of things, I paid 60k for an "uber gnort" which I don't really use.

I thought that price was too much, but now that I'm a BE (going up sampling), I'm not sure if it was enough. LOL

As a former Master DE, I used to get complaints on prices all the time, and the trade-in requests... I feel your pain there.

2 weeks ago i was running to catch the shuttle in Bestine and got stopped. This guy wanted me to make him a master lvl be pet for his zoo and charge him nothing. Basically it was make me a pet for my zoo.

I charge 5k for living staues if someone orders them for a zoo or furniture. And of course i use lvl 2 or lvl 5 wild creatures. I don't just make pets for nothing...
