Thread: Plague Strike...
has anyone gotten this to copy over yet? i'm talking the uber ae disease, not just strong disease. i've sampled and made some clones with matrigue screecher DNA, but no luck in passing it on to my clone. i've heard similar stories from other BE's, so i'm wondering if its...
a.) a bug that needs fixing
b.) purposely not copying over due to some reason known only to the devs
c.) since screecher has special 1 - unknown and special 2 - plague strike, that unknown 1st attack is messing things ups
d.)i'm just not using the right type of matrigue DNA
I hope someone has an answer, because plague strike makes a good pvp pet especially when defending your beloved hometown.
Thanks.

I was able to get the Mynock's disease ability into a clone of mine that I made last night. Though I'm not sure how I did it, there's another posting in this forum (CL 14 with 40% Kinetic, here's how I did it) which suggests that by putting special attacks in the Mind slot you'll get those special attacks to come through.
I'm going to try that tonight and see if it holds true:
Physique and Prowess : Resistances
Mental: Special Abilities
Psychological : Ranged Attack
Aggression : Damage/To hit
It's possible you didn't get the special abilities because they weren't in the right slot. I'll try this out myself tonight, try the same and we can at least verify that this is the way it works. Heck, last night I was convinced it was random which abilities get assigned. If I can control this more accurately, that will reign supreme. ![]()

BE 2-1-4-1
Elegant,
I'd say "good idea" if it wasn't for one simple fact, after two clones used matrigue in all 5 slots, all containing the "plague strike" as the second ability. I'm nervous the devs don't want everyone to make pets with the uber ae diseas/poisons for the simple fact that it would make pvp very very painful if both sides have pets with those abilities.
The disease you're talking about, is it actually called "plague strike" or just strong disease? If its plague strike, then i must be using the wrong type of dna trying to get that ability.

**edit**, the man's always trying to keep us BE's down. The plague strike isn't converting, it's just leaving the petwithout aspecial attack. Well shoot, I wonder if Talthazar has a confirmation on area effects...

I would like to modify your detail with findings of my own:
Physique and Prowess : Strong resistance effect, armour effect reachable
Mental: Special Abilities
Psychological : Ranged Attack, Special Abilites, Slight effect of resistance
Aggression : Damage/To hit, Special Abilites, Slight effect of resistance
I have noticed that with special abilites, most the stats actually effect it. If you place a Bleed in Psyc, and two disease in two of the HAM slots, it could override.
First off, I don't think any of the ae effects carry over. Tried to clone "open wounds" which is an ae bleed I believe, and it didn't turn out, after I used DNA that had it.
Second, the whole "each DNA slot has specific uses" thing isn't correct. I put "dizzy" DNA in four out of the five slots all from a kam snapper, used one sample in the prowess slot from a lvl 42 kimo i made (i was trying to raise the creatures overall lvl and resists) and when the template was created it carried the kimo's special attack of stun/poison instead.
That little experiment disproved the whole "mental slot controlling special attack" theory, and makes me think the higher lvl dna might be wieghted more when it comes to the creatures final stats. I also don't see the physical and prowess only controlling resistances. I like how Talthazar set it up on his website, that some of the slots are weighted more than others, but they still all count towards it. It seems to make more sense.

E-Dog - What were the quality ratings on the merek DNA in the experiment you mention? I'm starting to think from what I've read here and seen myself that maybe in order to reliably transfer traits from DNA, you need HQ or VHQ DNA samples. Others have suggested this as well...
