Thread: Valid Pets A CSR Response
the only thing i want to know is what are valid pets?
i have a few nonch pets i made for myself, avg 4k/3k/2k ham, dmg from 30-40 or 65-75.... some ended up with specials, some with ranged...... most have 9 kinetic/blast/restraint resist but i have no idea if these pets are exploits
from the friday feature the HAM is okay, but the damage a bit too high on some, but we have never been given a cookie-cutter guide as to what consitutes a valid pet
/sigh
I didnt think I'd even get a response if I went down that line of questioning with the Velid or not thang. But at least it gives a start point. The CSR confirms that itis when pets go over the level. So it's not at Taming, or at Full Grown, but it's a constant thing that happens everytime a pet is pulled from the datapad.
And that it's based on the stats of the pet against a set level. Which means there definatley is a set level for what is and isnt a level 10 pet. Somewhere, out there in the depths of time and space is a mystic 'This is a definate level 10 limit' guide.
Now we just have to find it... I hear it's a loot from the new Deathwatch Bunker. You talk to some guy on Dathomir who tells you the Guide is in a locked container in the basement... but you have to get it first. Wish me luck! ![]()

it's hidden with the secret resarch data! lol
i understand they won't tell us- that's just the problem.... with a lot of effort you can circumvent the pet level checks and end up with something way too uber
i think the pet checks should go into effect during crafting as well- and perhaps even check the max lvl/max stats instead of current level, current stats........ i'm at a loss as to how it works out that the creature would be valid as a baby, but grows "beyond its potential" so-to-speak
I'm assuming (and it's assuming a lot) that it takes the HAM costs, and the Damage as the major keys in calculation. And not the Percentage of resist per se, but the number of Resists. So 60% might not matter (might do a little?) but having say a combined resists of over 100% (Say 40% Kin, 40% Eng, 20% Blast) would (though 100 I think is being generous).
But from the thing the CSR says about it being related to the level going up, I reckon it has to do then, with the only stas that grow. Thats Level, HAM and Damage. The equation must work on these stats... so say the marker is a combined HAM of (Lvl -2) x1000, and perhaps a Damage of Lvl x 10 max. Seems about reasonable to me... that equates to a Lvl 10 pet of 8k HAM and 100 Damage. So that would be 4k H, 2k A, 2k M, 100 Dam. Which would make a decent pet.
But I reckon then that the check must be on an equation from Level, HAM and damage combined. This would also go a long way to explaining Pet Level calcs in general, not just Lvl 10 Validity...
Heck, I might be assuming too much there, but it's just my pennys worth ![]()

Why cann't the checks be performed when the pet is made? I mean all the stats & final intended level are right there on the deed, why wait until an unsuspecting customer or friend pulls the pet out of the data pad? Or am i missing something?
that's what i'm screaming........
and NancyJ is right..... BE's are supposed to make pets BETTER than what's in the wild, not equal.... otherwise, really what WOULD be the point?
Look the fact of the matter is that NON ch pets are always the exception to the rule, CL10 is about 10x more restrictive than CL 11 let alone 12(the potential novice CH market)
Bio engineer's that support the Uber non Ch pet market really need to be draged out into the street and shot.
I have been in swg since beta(page two in the X's of the SWG credits) i played a bio engineer since release, there was a fun period of time right after the new system was introduced, alot of the pets i made still are around to this day and never once got hit by the invalid pet check on any of my personal pets.
i had alot of fun selling my pets at what i felt was a decent price, until i later discovered that some one is just selling pets on the bazaar for 6k.
so in the current state of the game, BE needs to have the meat and flora costs for pets Seriously Jacked up, Rancors need to take 1-2k of meat not 1-200. the costs for makeing a clone should be in the K's and you should not be able to cover the resouce cost for 10 clones off of one missions worth of meat.
Any BE that encourages the Abomination level 10 pets are just creating a big head ache for legit players and should burn in hell.

Well if the Devs and their mouth piece are down here in hell burning next to me I'm fine with that. I am tired of the invalid pet checks after creation I have never made an invalid pet before but this is my way of civil disobedience.
I could be mass producing these and putting them up for auction instead of just selling a few to my guildmates.

Yup it would seem the obvious time to make the checks to me and then just circumnavigate this whole silly problem.
Not sure I like the way that the CSR seems to imply that if I make an 'illegal' pet I am somehow cheating or exploiting. I'm not trying to make some uber Sharnaff munching level 10 pet but I would, I think naturally, be expected to try and make the best pets the system placed before me will allow. What's the point in being a Bio-Engineer if I don't experiment to see if I can make my pets a bit stronger?
The thing is I'm someone who is learning my way through BE but have seen no official documentation on how the mirriad of possible variables all work towards the creation of my final pet, nor have I seen any official documentation on what constitutes the accepted peramaters for creatures of certain levels. How can I be expected to know whether I am 'cheating,' or playing the game? I'm just trying to work out how the game mechanism THEY built works.
But perhaps most importantly of all, if I make a nice pet I want to be able to give it to a friend or sell it without the uncertainty of knowing whether they will be able to use it or not. If it says level 10 on the tin - that's what I want it to be when it's called.
