Thread: house pets?
Ok, first I'm a noob with concern to both bio-engineering and creature handling (just qualified for CH, and 300xp med. exp away from BE). A friend of mine is an artisian and I am wondering if I (or someone) could give them a 'house pet' to do nothing more than just wander around and be 'there' in their shop. I know there are issues regarding people snagging/samping house pets but what I'm wondering is... what profession can give/drop/whatever a 'house pet' and does the recipiant have to have CH/BE skills.
Thanks for any help.
"Once a [ house pet ] is dropped can you pick it back up?"
Can someone respond to this? I've read two different threads and, while everyone answers the question of whether you can drop a pet in a house or not, nobody is responding to the question of whether or not they can be picked back up.
I was just given a cute little pet to put in my house as a gift from a Bio-Engineer, but I am afraid that if i drop it and don't like it that I won't be able to pick it back up again. I already have a Ballot Box Terminal that I can't remove from my house. ![]()

When a BE makes a pet it appears in your inventory as a "thing", just like furniture. You can sample it, tame it, or several other things. Since it is a "thing" you can give it away in a trade window.
If you are in a house, where you have Admin rights you will have the option to drop it. When dropped in a house, it acts just like a couch, table or chair. You can move it using the radial menu or the /movefurniture or /rotatefurniture commands. You can pick them up and return them to your inventory.
My house has 10 or so pets in it. There are simple animations, but they do not "wander", walk or change position. And when dropped, they will be the full adult size, so then can take lots of room up. However, they are considered one thing in the house.
Hope that this helps..
