Thread: Begining artisan...Nothing of mine seems to be selling at the bazaars

I actually am a novice artisan (along with novice medic, novice marksman, and novice scout). And, right now, I'm doing a lot of crafting of simple items. Anything from Stims to beginner weapons to clothing. Unfortunately, pretty much nothing I craft gets sold at the bazaars. While writing this post, I did just sell one Stim, but that's it.

Right now, I have a wind power generator, a mineral extractor, a chemical extractor, a water vaporador (sp?), and a flora farm. On top of that, I have a house. Now, I've found a way to earn money outside of crafting, so I can keep these extractors and power supplies running, but it's kinda depressing...esp for someone new at this. Icraft and craft, and nothing ever gets sold. Crafting stims and undercutting most people's costs. But, they still won't go.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? I set myself up outside of Theed on Naboo. It's probably the biggest and most active city I've been to yet. So, I figured it would be a good place to get started. I may have shot myself in the foot though, seeing that there are so many others around...possibly quite a few others crafting.

Is Novice Artisan always this hard to start out?

Thanks

Anian

It could be one of 2 things...

You could be pricing your items too high. Always take a look at the items others are selling on the bazaar, and price your items comparably. Try not to undercut other's prices, because that will hurt yourself, and everyone else in the long run, but don't overprice either.

Another thing, and the more likely of the two, is that your items aren't of high enough quality yet. Let's put it this way... If I see 2 weapon powerups on the bazaar, and one had a quality of +6 and one has a quality of +30. I'm going to buy the +30 one every time. This is also another factor of price. If the +30 item is 300cr, it might be appropriate to charge 60cr fo the +6 one...

I hope you find this helpful...

Ok,

So what should I do? I have crafting stations, but I have VERY bad luck when it comes to experimenting. What can I do to make better items?

Thanks

You need to find the best quality resources that you can, specific to the item you are making.

Under the ingredients list, you will see something along the lines of:

Quality:

Conductivity 100%

This means that to get the highest quality item of what you are making, you want to use resources that have the highest Conductivity that you can find. This method can get you as high as a 30% quality item. The only way to get it higher than 30% is to experiment

None want second best items so if someone is selling a mod for +30 at 300 your +6 mod (using bombs example) is worth approximately -2 credits. Which means you would have to pay someone two credits so they would take it and destroy it.

Unless you find a niche your going to have to powerlevel up a ways before you are able to sell anything. Anything less than the best in this inflated economy is considered worthless.

... if you ask me the whole bazaar-craft-ecomomy-cycle thing is totaly out of balance.

I am not sure how to fix it though.

What needs to happen is the decay rate on items needs to be kicked up a bit, or in some cases, ENABLED.

Kinda hard to sell new items when the stuff you made 2 months ago is still working just fine.

btw, stimpacks are a medical crafting thing... and if you are selling stimpack As, you are really going up against stimpack Bs. Lower prices might sell them, but honestly any novice medic who has money is going to buy stimpack Bs over stimpack As.

Yeah, I know. I'm working on Stim B's only now. But, I still have some A's at the Bazaar.

Actually, I'm working on becoming an architect and specializing on houses. Then also becoming a Master Combat Medic.

I've worked the math out, it can be done.

to be honest with you, i don't think it is quality for your lvl. it is a matter of to much supply already out there and not enough demand for it right now. yes, quality does help sales, but a month ago, i was selling out with low quality items because there was a greater demand then. but things are on the back slide for now. it will change in time when the economy is not so young.

in the end, it is all a supply and demand thing. i am a master and my sales have dropped big time in the last month. so, it is not just you.

Kalano has it right, you have to find something that is in demand. Many people take artisan and have the skills to make their own harvestors and such. Since those items give lots of xp a lot of them get made, which means that no one really buys them. One of the things I've found that consistently sells well for exampleare weapon repair kits. SInce they don't give lots of xp few are made but many folks seem to buy and use them. My advice is not to sweat the xp but just make lots of stuff that sells (if you want to support yourself while you level) and the xp will take care of itself.
