Ok, folks, this failure really makes me pissed off.

I was in the process of making this fancy new toy, got my AV21 powerplant, two top grade meterials, and ready for assemble... Then i clicked on the "assemble" botton, "Critical failure"!! All of the meterialswere in the meterial windowgone, including AV21 powerplant. I was so pissed, I didn't craft anything for the rest of the day.

I've crafted three AV21 in the past, but this is first time I've encountered failure. Anyone want to share your experience welcome to post here.

In the main time, i am back in Corvette looking for more powerplants.

You have to go to the Corvette to get one. Good luck on that now.

That is raw.

Good thing the new power plants are so easy to get....just a short hop to the Corvette...and ask any of the nice folks or battle droids on board for one. They seem very willing to help.

I'm very sorry to hear that, but I also have to say that failures sometimes happen without respect to the rarity or price of the materials you are using. I can understand that if you were just grinding out practice wooden staves you wouldn't care as much if you failed a single one of those, but it's all a percentage game.

I looted the power plant off the disabled R2 droid in the lower level. Very tough to loot one. As soon as you walk into the room, five super battle droid will spawn next to the disabled droid and start attack you and anyone in the area. Each of the droid will shoot 1200+ damages energybeams on you, then youpray your buff and your armor will hold up, if they don't hold up,enjoy thescenery and rebels laughing at you while incapped. If you are lucky enough not get slain by one of the battle droid (99.9999% of the time they will, if not, make sure you buy lotto as soon as you log off from the game, call me and we all share your winning money), then you might have a chance looting the item...which could be as bad as 1 out10 tries is a powerplant.

If you get slained before you can loot, go home, buff up, repair your armor, nothing much you can do in corvette unbuffed and have lots wounds.

Whenyou've exit the corvette with 99% health and actionwounds, drive carefully andavoid any bugon yourway back to Moenia starport. Driving into a bug will most likely incapped you because your ONE healthpoint wouldn't hold up much. Seek doctor, dancer, musican, mom, dad, dog, catfor medical, mind, mental, physical attentionwhen you back in city.

Cuss, pray, eat, drink, buff, swear, get DSL, buy new computer...whichever you think you miight need in order to get a powerplant, when you have all that ready, got your ticket, looted a powerplant...."CRITICAL FAILURE!!!"

Architects no longer lose materials on critical failures. They retain all materials, and are able to assemble them again. This has been the case for 2 publishes already.

One observation, and if someone would please try a test to see if this is a repeatable effect...

Since I craft power-ups for a living, and I make very specific 3-stat powerups, I tend to have to "assemble" at least 50 - 70 times to make a schem I'm happy with. In the process, I have noticed that :

a) critical failures tend to come generally in waves, i.e. almost a fixed period in-between a batch of critical failures.

b) that I WILL critical fail almost always within the first 10 assemblies I do when I first start crafting after logging in. This seems to start the timing cycle between critical failures.

c) you are more likely to critical fail on a "popular" power-up eg. max/min, melee/mind etc.

I have crafted already 7 AV-21's without critical failures (touch wood...knock...knock). Each time, I would craft some useless object like a survival knife until I encounter my first critical failure (within the first 10 - 20 attempts)...and then fill up with foods and craft the AV-21. It seem to work for me...and I also do this when I craft weapons (on a friend's toon). It seems to work there too.

The critical failure i got was the first item i crafted in that day. Wish SOE won't make my meterials go "poof", 4.5K metal is alot

I have made 14 AV 21's so far...

Here are some tips:

USE FOOD! Poly cake and Bespin Port. For a 2 Mil plus investment its worth spending some money on insurance.

Crafting in a player city that has research HELPS!

Make sure your using the best tools and crafting stations you can.

I'm glad that Architects don't lose materials from critical failures, but I think this same rule should apply to vehicle schematics. Keep in mind that rule applies to ALL architect schematics. Even critfailing on a structure module will let you keep your 250 units of resources involved. But critfailing on any vehicle results in a loss of at least 4250 units of resources. That's A LOT of metal (and now rare loot items) to lose.
