Thread: 98% Vehicles... how rare are they? (before new JTL resources came in)

EDIT: Well this thread is kind of outdated now, as much better SR non-ferrous is spawning on some servers. I am now making 99% vehicles, and someone on our server built a 100% AV21 with 1000SR steel and 985SR copper.

...

I was lucky enough to make a 98% durability vehicle schematiclast night, where I normally am only able to achieve 97%.

Just wondering how rare this outcome actually is? Have you seen many 98% vehicles on your server? Or have you ever crafted any?

Cheers,

Gaxx

Personaly the best i ever got was 96% i have a boatload of them for sale on my bloodfin vendor. 85% is the best aluminum i've ever seen which is always the deciding factor in my percentage. I know people have made 100% ones because i've seen them being sold.

100%? I didn't think that was possible for any craftable item?

Well, i saw them being advertised as 100% maybe it was 99.9 like other items. I have never actualy seen a 100% vehicle or a 99.9% vehicle for that matter first hand. But i would assume you could get a perfect vehicle asuming you could get 1000 steel and 1000 alum.

Thanks for your replies Dreamland.

As far as I knew though, the nature of SWG is that even two resources with stats of 1000 will still onlygive a 99% result.

I have heard that there was one day in early SWG history that was bugged and allowed people to make 100% vehicles for a day.

And as we know, the SR statfor aluminium never exceeds 900 (and even lower for copper).

This is partially correct. There was one day early this year when we were able to craft 100% items, but it was not a bug. Basically, it was the the great crafting revamp that was just not meant to be. Long story short, the devs had this great new crafting system that they wanted to put into place, but it tested really poorly on Test Center. However, because of the the way the code was structured, it was actually easier for them to push the patch through as it was and then remove the new crafting code the following morning. The end result was that we got to play with this new crafting system for a day and under the new crafting system it was possible to get 100% items. In fact, not only was it possible, it was ridiculously easy. On what later became known as "patch day" every crafter worth his salt spent at least an hour crafting schematics for 100% items. Obviously with things like speeders the resources ran out pretty quickly after "patch day," but I personally still have at least two untouched schematics for every type of 100% repair tool and 15.00 rated crafting tools and the resources to make them.

In any event, getting back to the thread's original question, 98% vehicles are pretty rare. Currently I have materials that I hold in reserve for AV-21s that allow me to get 97% vehicles. I believe there was one batch of swoops that I was able to run awhile back that came out to be 98%, but you don't get spawns like that everyday. My average vehicle experimentation is about 95%. Anything less than 90% and I refuse to sell it and therefore don't bother mining the materials.

The new aluminum, Perovskivtivic, can go higher than 900 SR. A current spawn on Intrepid has 969 cond

What kind of aluminum is that? Both of the two resource stat cap listing's I checked has Phrik Aluminum as highest, gated at 900 SR.

Edit: Bah, never mind, you said conductivity, not shock resistsance Conductivity doesn't matter for vehicles.

Must be nice. Here on Kettemoor Aluminum is topping out at a whopping 625 SR.
Strangely I'm not building many vehicles right now!

I don't know what the method is to calculate what a 900 + 1000sr rating would equate to in terms of a percentage. I'm currently getting 96% out ofmy 990+850 combination, and those are something like 2450 hitpoints i believe.

Depends... Is it one of the new JTL resources? It's possible that these new resources are the "elite" of al resources, not being gated at all, but I don't know.
