Thread: Surrendering skills
So I'm a medic, and I have crafting abilities. I have novice artisan (for surveying) and that added a bunch of schematicsto mydatapad. If I drop artisan, I know I lose the surveying ability, but do my schematics disappear from my datapad? I assume my skill to craft those things would disappear as well.
Also, when you reach an elite profession, say, become a master doctor, does everything in that skill tree cost a total of 250 points? Or is there room for some customization still?
simple way to figure out a whole tree cost is like this:
a skill tree that starts with 15 pts will cost 77 pts to get master
a skill tree that starts with 6 pts will cost 63 pts to get master
ie:
to get master medic = 77 pts
1
5 - 5 - 5 - 5
4 - 4 - 4 - 4
3 - 3 - 3 - 3
2 - 2 - 2 - 2
15
to get master doctor = 63 pts
1
2 - 2 - 2 - 2
3 - 3 - 3 - 3
4 - 4 - 4 - 4
5 - 5 - 5 - 5

If you get rid of Novice Artisan you will loos the ability to craft any of the artisan items, you will still be able to craft if you are say a scout. Then you can still craft camps, traps and such......
But for the most part the answer is yes, you will loose all of the artisan schematics you gained when you atarted the profession.
Question,
Say I take scouting to get my own bone and hide. When I goto surrender those skills, do I get the points back that instant or do I have to wait? what happens when I do this?

You are prompted if you try, and it lists the skills you need to surrender first. The only skills you can surrender are the most advanced along your skill tree.
So if you were to surrender anything along the BH skill tree, and you are a Master BH, Master BH would be the first one you would have to surrender, before you could surrender your other ones.
When you surrender a skill do you get the prerequisite points back?
i.e. I took Novice Tailor. If I decide it's really, really boring can I surrender it and get the 24000 crafting points back to use on Weaponsmith or something else?
