Thread: Will Artisans Make Vehicles?

In the development section it states that people will be able to buy single passenger vehicles, but says nothing about crafting. Just curious what other people thought or if there was a word on this that I missed.

On one hand having NPC vehicle vendors would be against the whole PC economy but it would add another ( needed?) money sink. I think that it could come off master artisan- it requires engineering but you also want to be able to supply it with nice leather seats.

Yeah! Leather bucket seats and fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror! Could we get bumper stickers, too?

I agree. I was thinking that when the vehicles come along that we are the most quailfied to make them after all we already make Houses, Droids, Factories, and Generators. It would give the Artisan a much needed kick in the economy. Since nobody really buys the later any more. Only thing is why not have 1 and 2 seaters. I think they should do it like in planetside (a sony product) where you can have passengers. Maybe even charge people like a taxi service to go out to Wayfar. Just a thought.

Being a taxi driver??

OK, I can see it now. A brand new profession.... TAXI DRIVER!!!!

Of course, some of the skill trees in that profession would be, Offensive Body Odour, Pretending to not speak Basic, Finding Longest Route to Destination, and most importantly How to Overcharge Customers.

Afternoon,
Thats a great question.

As an Elite Profession of Master Artisian would make it even better, like it was suggested.
Having to go to a Weaponsmith for weapons, an Armorer for armor for it, and a Droid Eng if you want to include an astromech or two to keep it running smoothly.

Now has any one thought yet if they will make a new profession for it that would be the intelegent thing to do after all. Especially if they want us later on to maybe take on the Death Star or engage Imerial Tie Fighters in deep space.
Even better once it gets going very well would be the elite profession of Pirate as well as the Smugler that is all ready in place being able to have hidden cargo holds.

The ideas this could generate could be massive in proportion to what they decide to do with it or it could simply be a drop in the bucket for what they release as a final project.

I like the Pirate professions option. I have thought about trying to take a character into that profession, maybe become a smuggler and just treat it as a pirate. I think that artisans being able to craft vehicles would be the next logical choice in the game.

I have ~35,000 general crafting xp saved up in case it's another elite profession under artisan

If it's included in a for pay expansion I think it will be a new profession. If it's just patched onto this then I think it will not and won't be really detailed either (Would not bother with that much work) c

I think we'll need to see 2 new professions with the space expansion.. Pilots and Mechanics.

One to build and repair them, one to fly them.

As far as the player vehicles coming up, I think 1 in Eng IV, maybe 1 in master Artisian, and the rest should probably go to Droid Engineers, they have the best matched skills to be making vehicles... what do you think keeps those probots floating?

Quite honestly, I think that this would be a bad idea with the current system. As a West End/Wizards RPG veteran, I know the prices of equipment, arms, vehicle's etc. I know we are getting screwed. Remember Luke's whine to Han: "Ten thousand?! We could almost buy our own ship for that." It's true. 10-15k will get you a cheap, used, small transport. Suits of armor are selling for TEN TIMES THAT! Blasters are going for 10 to 15 times what they should. I just have serious issues with the economy right now. I personally think that a PC/NPC economy should have been part of the game as the prices wouldn't have been totally as insane as they are right now.

Why? Because the first person to make an item sells it for whatever price they want and most everyone else sells for the exact same price. Why do we pay? Because we are forced to. We have no choice in many situations and some of us are getting priced out of a some good equipment. Especially newbies. If armor is going for better that 100K+ then just imagine how much speeders and starships will get put up for. Tell me, what new character could afford that within any reasonable ammount of time? I'm not going to deal with the fairness to those of us that have been playing since early on.

Personally, I think that starships should be sold by NPC's merchants like we should have the option of buying everything else. Yes, there should be an Artisan class, but that should not be our only source of items.

Artisan's should make better items than you can find in NPC shops and charge accordingly. But not prohibitivly so. NPC's should have your basic, run-of-the-mill stuff, Artisans make the killer stuff! 'Nuff Said!

to the person that said there might be a pilot profession.....i disagree. they will work on the space expansion more than the original if they want to hold every1's interest in the game and will or at least i hope that they'll make the space battles like the other x-wing and TIE fighter games. they could make it like ace combat 4 cept in space or rogue squadron and base it on skill which will make it skillbased and not profession based. keep ur fingers crossed

Omg! I hope that vehicles wont be made by Players, Pricers are insane as it is! And as for space battles? I think not, at first it will be more like air support for battle grounds, I imagine that they wil use the same crap...er stuff i mean from Planet Side.
