NPC's involved in the economy is a terrible idea. What happens is that everything NPC becomes so worthless as to be nearly free, and everything you can get only from players goes through the roof. For example, if NPCs sold weapons, a weaponsmith would be having to make the decision to sell weapons for 'role playing' purposes, even though he could get ten times as much for selling the required resources. That's how UO has always been and it's horrid. Credits come from one place only, and that's missions. If you think prices are high, it's only because your income is less than that of the average mission doer. You need to find a way to earn credits, or be relatively poor. The expense of things in this game, is the main challenge. Don't wish for things to be easier, understand that your unrealized goals are what keep you playing.

I think that Vehicles and Ships will be quite inexpensive to purchase. Where they will kill us is in maintenance. If you think keeping 2 or 3 harvesters running is a PITA wait until you try to keep a ship like the Falcon going.

Ever notice Han and Chewy weren't exactly living the life of luxury despite thier big ticket dealings with the underworld? Half of Episode 4 isspent fixingand bitching about the POS Falcon...LOL.

Actually, I've been grinding missions since I started. I've finally gotten to the point as a Marksman that I really only buy weapons that I want, not ones I need. I haven't bought that much from the Bazaar lately, but have managed to find some fair prices on a few things. Mission grinding has gotten just about as interesting as sampling or item grinding. And I have better than seventy large sitting in the bank. Enough for a suit of Ubese armor? NOT! I can't even find anyone that sells the stuff. Whatever finds it's way into the Bazaar get's snatched up before I can get there. Oh well, would have been nice to have had before they toned down the spawn rate.

I'm not too interested in doing the NPC missions right now, as they are still buggy. I'd rather wait, get some friends into the game and do some group stuff. Even as a near Apprentice Marksman, most NPC characters you go against are insane. That is unless you're a CH.

My whole point is that if you are new to the game, it takes a long time just to get enough cred's together to buy item's you just got qualifications to use. Or just something you might like to have because you like it.

Maybe any idea I come up with on how to level out the economy will fall on deaf ears to the Artisan population. What do I know, I'm just a Ground Pounder.
Peace Out!

I certainly hope artisans get to build them. I think your problems with the economy are largely driven by a need to have the coolest stuff around.. 100k for armor? NOT! I have mabari in my vendor for 10k. Is it "uber"? NO. Does it work? Yes it does. Will 10k get you an "uber" ship? NO. Will it work? Yes it will.

If you want the "Falcon" (not that you necessarily would.. lol) you'd better get over the fact that it'sgoing to pound your wallet into dust. One-of-a-kind items are expensive ingame, just like they are in real-world-land.

Also, as a novice DE, I frequently give away droids as tips or trading stocksince I'm grinding the snot out of them to advance my skills. I'm sure transport design will be no exception.Artisans will be begging for buyers as they grind out the small 10ktransports in hopes to get enough XP for "uber battlecruiser" schematics.

I've got to agree with standup_philosopher to a certain extent. I've got few problems with the economy and I have a pure crafter on one server and a pure pistoleer on the other so I'm not speaking from one profession. Everything needs to stay PC crafted. Sure prices are funny when a server starts out, but after a while they level off and if you can't find someone to make what you need then you aren't trying very hard. There are more than a few masters of every profession on every starting planet. See a guy wearing the armor you want? Ask him who made it - simple process really. And for you crafters complaining that you are being forced to sell high or low - gotta ask you why? I take a look at the galaxy bazaar to get an idea of the range things are selling for and then I make a decision based on what I think my goods are worth. If I want to wait longer for the sale I sell them high. If I want to sell it fast I undercut the price everyone else is selling it for.

Lots of new people don't yet understand the value of goods in terms of quality, so they see no reason not to buy a bone helm for 1k if they see one for 200. But when the armor is useless after the first battle they'll start to check the quality of what they buy and I expect the bazaar system will eventually be more searchable by quality of the items.

And as far as credits go... I have a character at Novice Pistoleer and I can pull 100k in an hour or two just by taking missions that give 800 to 1200cr rewards. Now this isn't really stimulating so I don't do it unless I get short on creds but to tell you the truth 100k seems to go a very long way - how many suits of armor do you really need to buy?

To be honest, I don't have a need to have the coolest stuff around. I have what I can use and I look for the best gear I can get for what I believe to be a good price. If I needed to have the coolest stuff around I'd be whining to every artisan and slicer and begging for stuff for cheap-to-free. I'm good with what I have 'till I can find someone with what I consider to be prices that are fair for everyone involved.

Somehow I seriously doubt that the first of the basic no frills ships will be running anything under 100k. Just gonna grind out the missions and keep banking up my ducats 'till then. Still gonna look for a deal.

I think that Master artisans should be able to build and customize/experiment with vehicles. The person that brought up the taxi idea was a good idea. Be better than shuttle!

Where your point fails is the fact that you don't need a Laser Rifle at Advanced Rifles. I used a CDEF all the way up to Expert (and I'm a Master Weaponsmith). I used a Heavy Axe all the way up to Expert Two Handed Weapons too. The crap you kill at those low levels don't require the bigger, better weapons, and let's face it, the majority of the certs are down there.

When you want to go kill a Kimogila, come over to my shop, I've got a nice DX2, or DXR6, or T21 that you can use. But, for going out Gnort hunting, may I point you in the direction of the nearest Artisan with a CDEF?

Well, setting aside that Master Weaponsmith and mastering the Rifle tree are totally different professions(I'll assume that's what you ment), I think it's great you managed that. I'm not trying to come off as an @$$ with that remark, that's a great feat.

Here's a fact: I'm always looking for a fight. A good one. Kreetle's were my critter of choice as there are a lot of them in a nest, so there is a chance for lot's of xp no matter what weapon I choose to use. That was untill I found Diseased Bocatt's. Lot's more xp and there are fewer in the nest(naturally), therefore faster to get through so I can get onto my next grinder mission. Everytime I see a lone Rogue Bantha, I totally own it. All it takes with one is to get forced into kneeling and bang, incapped. I've also started taking on Womprat nests. Even tougher than Bocatt's as it's diffucult to get one isolated. I've tried several other missions including Swooper camps. Even with armor they are a serious challenge even with my droid. You've gotta have extra support with those.

Fact is, I'll try anything, go againsed anything, go againsed any one. I pick fights with most anyone I stand a chance with and sometimes anyone I know I don't since I can find some kind of way to win. Sometimes.

I just feel sorry for everyone who grinds for a couple of weeks or more just to earn enough credits to buy a vehicle that sucks and is way overpriced just because every artisan is selling for the same prices no matter where you go.

BTW, I play on AHAZI, not Naritus. I don't really have much of a chance of buying your gear for Raiso.

Mod's are probably going to close this thread soon anyway.

No matter. The issues between a Merchand and a Ground Pounder may never be resolved peacefully.

E11 Rifle, DL-44, Spec-op's duster, Camo-pants, Boots, a few traps for the xp. Bone armor when I need it.
