Thread: DEVS, A Petition ... Harvester Monitoring Device
Being an Artisan elite class, well, boring and frustrating (primarily 'cause of the crafting). On top of all the things to balance while trying to achieve status in your profession, i.e. craft, but maintain your harvesters, but to maintain your harvesters you need cash, but to get cash you need to take missions, but if you take missions you can't craft, and if you don't craft you're not getting XP, .... and if you're not getting XP, you're not leveling, we also need to worry about resource shifts. I've learned to deal with all of this. Out of all this however, I've come up with 2 ideas:
1.) HARVESTER MONITORING DEVICE. A simple device (as if) that can let you know, from anywhere, the current status of your harvesters. It will let you know how the maintainence is holding up, how much energy is left, and most importantly .... If your harvester is still harvesting resources. To put up with all that there is now is a lot. Artisan class professions really have their work cut out for them compared to your melee/ranged classes. There is nothing more frustrating than setting out for your day of harvester upkeep, only to return the next day and find that an hour after you left the day before, resources changed and your harvester hasn't been doing anything for you at all. AAAARRRGGHHH!!! With a "Harvester Monitoring Device" these things would not be such a problem. Before someone posts "Just keep on top of your harvesters", resources can change at any time .... therefore I would need to stand in front of my harvester all day long just to make sure I'm on top of any changes. Not very likely or practical. I feel that such a device would make things easier on a heavy burdened class.
2.) A SYTEM / SERVER WIDE E-MAIL. Quite simply, a courtesy e-mail that would notify us if the resources have changed. All the points to argue are in the suggestions above, only it would remove the need of a "device".
I have no choice. I understand this. I play the game as is and I deal with it. These are ONLY suggestions that I feel would help any type of player that harvests their own resources. If you agree with any suggestions, let yourself be heard.
Thank You
P.S.
It would be great if this could get the attention of any DEV.
Well, since harvesters already give you system messages about being out of poweror that the resource is depleated when you try to turn them on, it's just a logical step tocreating a device that we can remotely monitor power levels, maintenance levels and resource densities... but only for monitoring. To add maintenance or add power, you would still have to go out to the installaion itself.
Also an email nitification for depletion of maintenance, power and resources would be a boon to those of us with harvesters scattered about the planet.
I second this, I've been thinking along the same lines lately myself. Please give us the ability to AT LEAST know when our harvesters shut down due to a resource change. Please.
To make it simple, they say they can't be monitored, because they don't exist. Maybe, they should just make a calculator, which would estimate the current power/credits of the harvester... Then, when ever someone (maybe not even you) gets within range, it would Sync the Harvester and Calculator together for a breif moment, just to update the exact time.
It could be done.
I'll sign this too.
I still like the idea I had before... integrate the function into data terminals, where you could run spot checks on your harvesters from inside your house. It would have an "Active" component of you having to "Tell" ther terminal which harvestor you wish to check, at which point the system could do a "spot simulation" (as in, "spawn" the harvester long enough to get it's status if no one's around it)... or at least give the results from the spot calculation done when someone last walked close enough to spawn it...
An email would be nice. Your harvester has run out of power, its out of maintence, it has shut off!
It might be nice to have resoruces be tracked on the survey device as to how long they have been active. Anything that might give the casual gamer a bit of a chance to make some plans.
Bah, how many times is this exact same petition going to be started and fade away? It's kinda funny.
I'm a casual player. These systems are totally unnecessary as you can record all your information with pencil and paper. And yes, the resourcesare predictable. I do it all the time.
