Thread: Now What?
Two reasons we should charge for training breifly after launch:
1) our costs to train must be recovered
2) Training is a scarce resource and people are still willing to pay for it (that's the miracle of capitalism, hehe)
Now, we do not need to be butts about it--If it costs 1000 to learn something, you are still saving that person the time and energy if you only charge them about 750. I, on the otherhand would be willing to pay about 25%-50% of the cost since someone can turn around and make a profit if they train 2-4 people (which shouldn't take very long for the lower and more common skills).
I make a habit of always tipping my trainer at least 10% of what the NPC trainer would have charged me. That's a piddly amount, and everyone should be able to afford it.
For those PC trainers that are sitting around start points, this could be enough money to help them stay ahead and raise those upper skills so that we all have someone to come back to for the next level.
For those willing to tip 25% or more, that's great!
Of course, specifically asking for a tip is bad form. I never require payment as a condition of training.
I've always trained people for free. Many times I was tipped which not only got me apprentice XP but also a little cash. ![]()
I always tip those who take time to train me, heal me, etc. I consider this simply being a good neighbor in our community.
training right here free of charge---
dang npcs jeeze 1000 creds for survy lvl 1 omg!!!
you have to get your skill trained. That means either going to an artisan instructor (npc) and spending credits for it, or getting another player to train you who has it.
Tempus
In order to advance to the next level for Surveying you will need to train in it. You can do this by visiting an Artisan Trainer NPC (this will cost credits) or you can train from another player. Players who train you may do it for free but it is usually a nice gesture to tip 'em a few credits or even better, resources, to thank them for saving you a few credits.

I dont charge for training, but I also dont argue when someone tips me. And if someone is spamming "Will pay 500 credits to be trained in basket weaving 3", ill take thier money.
I have paid for training, and it doesnt bother me. its still cheaper than an NPC and I usually dont wanna wait to find it for free.
If people tip, that's fine with me. If they don't that's cool too. I get apprenticeship points anyway.
Ylara
I have no problem training for free, if I'm asked nicely. "Hey, d00d, train me in Eng III" will have me asking for creds.
On the same token, I always offer something to train, either some power, or some resources, or cash.
