Thread: Surveying Missions
Is it just me or does it seem that they just got harder? .. infact I have yet to successfully complete a mission today.. I just can't find the resource needed... Is there any way at all to see what specific resource they are looking for?
Thanks.
Well, I completed one and that was enough for me.
1) Talked with a guy who said he needed a mineral or something vague like that and he needed a rich sample site of 65%. The mission also stated the sample site must be something like a minimum of 550 m away and he would pay me 1500c.
2) I run all over the area sampling about 9 different types of minerals for about an hour but can't find a source of 65% or higher. I then notice I have a waypoint linked to the mission about 2k m away.
3) I run to the waypoint and search all the mineral types in the area and find nothing 65% or higher. I fanned out from that point and got on a hot mineral trail. I marked a 65% sample site but still nothing. It wasn't until I was standing on top of the 65% sample site and I hit survey again did I finally complete the mission.
It seems to me that survey missions are easy money. The trick, I think, is to already know about a high concentration of a particular resource, then pick two survey missions forthat resource. Then you run out to the resource spot, hit survey and 'presto' you get paid for both missions at once. AFAIK, you don't have to go to the mission waypoints, you can go to any location that has the proper resource in a high enough concentration. Hope this helps.

I have a quick question on survey missions. It gives you the name of the person looking for the mineral or substance. Do you have oy find this person and then go survey? If so where are they usually found. I am getting supplies in Bespin and tried several of these missions but have not found the person to talk to yet.

If you speak of the missions given by the new terminals, I'm not sure, I haven't done those yet.
If you speak of the missions given by NPCs, then the name in the mission details refers to the person you talked to initially who gave you the mission. You do not have to return to the giver..the mission completes automatically.
Hmmm, the mission terminal was displaying survey missions for 1500-1800 credits. Try equipping your weapon when you get a survey mission, maybe you'll get a better payout that way.

If you get the mission from the Terminal, you just have to find the right amount.I have seen Max payout for these missions from 900 to 1800, it seems to depend on the city. Anchorhead, seems to have one of the best paying survey missions. Right now, on my server there is a nice high Steel at about 540 meters from the termial, so 2 real easy Ferrous metal mission, and I can make anywhere from 1100 to 1800 eachon those missions...
My biggest concern is that they're going to cut the pay because people think of it as "easy money". While this may be true - you are getting paid more to do not much, all other missions have extra benefits. If you do animal hunting missions, you get hides/bones/meat as well as the experience points from killing and harvesting. If you do faction missions, you of course get faction points and then also can sometimes loot things - on top of the killing experience points. Entertainer missions you get entertaining experience. Crafting missions you get crafting experience.
Yes, maybe these are paying quite a bit but in the end I think that really other missions have more incentives unless of course you can't do the other missions! So, hopefully SWG realizes this and won't cut the pay - but I wouldn't bet on it.
