First, you need to actually stand on a point of the required concentration or higher, just having a waypoint to it isn't enough. Second, no sampling is required. Third, you have to be farther than 1024 meters from where you got the mission.

Oh, and I think there's still a bug with newly-spawned resources. If a particular resource is too new, attempting to sample it gives a "density too low" message, even if you're standing on an 80% deposit. This clears up in a day or so, but also makes any survey mission where you're following a vein of that resource not succeed. I don't think you'd be running into this, since you did say you were sampling the resource, but just something to watch out for in the future.

Quick and easy way to make these missions more profitable and a LOT safer. Be sure to equip your best combat weapon (yes CH that even means your pets but have them grouped). Once the survey missions start showing payouts in the 1500 to 1800 range you know you have enough fire power. Take 2 missions. I recommend Inert Petro or Inert gas till you learn more. Ignore the ore. It is almost never concentrated enough. Survey where you are to see what is hot near you (more on this later) Look for just 1 of each of the categories you remember from looking at the mission terminal while searching for the Inert petro/gas mission. Now go to the shuttle port. Take a vacation. Really just choose a shuttle destination that ammuses you. On arrival survey for the 2 missions you took. If you are lucky you will find the minimum concentration near where you landed. You are in a city and more than the 1024m from the mission-giver so you are safe enough and far enough. Once you complete the missions (or throw them away if you want) Take 2 more missions. These 2 missions should be for resources you *know* are strong back were you started. Survey locally to see what *is* hot here. Take shuttle back. Survey. Get paid. Wash-Rinse repeat. I found this was very good for funding my early artisan days. Note that for missions the min concentration for a mission seems to be in the 60% range. The top missions, 1800c and 1740c are for 70% and 69% concentrations so they are the most difficult. Once you get the hang of it you can pay for most of your food and travel expenses with this method. When going somewere new the Inert petro and Inert gas seem to be the most likely to be found near a star/shuttle port.

Basicly I made a waypoint at the terminal, ran 1024 meters away, survey for what is in high concentrations, run back, pick two missions for whatever was high, run out to where the waypoint indicatior says past 1024, survey, repeat. Inert petro is nice, the icon is easy to identify. Did this myself while grinding armormsith, ran back and forth while crafting AUK's. Made money and got xp at some time. With vehicles it goes much faster, but no crafting or such.

If you want to make easy money surveying, use www.swg-iss.com

This is a site for surveyors and miners to connect.

Miners can set up email notifications for resources they are looking for, purchase resource coordinates, track resources, and view server wide resource attributes.

Surveyors can post resource locations with a price tag, and increase visibility of their services to the entire server instantly.

Give it a look.

You have to be level 4 in some weapon and equip that weapon/brawler catagoryto get them. Or group with other people or an animal.

I think its stupid that u have to get weapon skills to get better surveying missions... They should come with the surveying skill-tree!!

Does this not count for the people going the TKA route? My Unarmed IV Brawler is refreshing over and over and over, but I can't seem to get the elusive 1800 credit missions people are talking about- unless I'm misunderstanding something and you're talking about taking 2 900-credit missions.

Thanks- sorry for the thread ressurection. :/

from FAQ:

Q: Why can I only get 900 credit survey missions when others are getting 1800 credits per mission?

A: Marksman skills determine maximum artisan payout (/boggle). You must have Box 4 in a given marksman line with a box 3 certified weapon equipped to see this.

I did say that, although it looks a little mangled. I am able to get the good missionswith unarmed 4. When I had unarmed 3, I could only get the good ones while grouping with an animal.
