Thread: Powerup Pricing

As there are not any real pricing guides out there I think it my be useful to start a thread on it. I've been charging 10cr/1% stat bonus + x credits/depending on what stats are being buffed. For instance, a 15% damage 10% range powerup, I'd sell for 275-300 cr. I'm thinking though that the only stats people care about are range, speed, and damage, and maybe these should be the only ones that go into pricing. What does everyone else think?

This is a great topic! I as well have been making powerups for some time and selling them in the bazzar. But, powerups are one of those strange things to price. I would also be interested to hear comments on this subject so that we can figure out some kind of pricing structure.

300 credits seems to be a reasonable price for powerups, at least on Naritus

I really only sell Quick-charge powerups being as there is none on the bazaar for any length of time, I make them 5% to 16% right now and charge 50 to 500 credits, however right now I am testing to see if a 16% quick-charge will sell for 1k credits. I hate the fact the power-ups are a random thing and you cant determin what you will get

Keep up the good work guys, but of course pricing will vary not only between cities but more so between servers.

The only guide to pricing I can offer is always price to value not to cost. If the cost exceeds value reconsider selling your product.

Don't worry about grinders destroying your powerup market. A smart grinder never experiments, so most serious marksmen won't use their products.

The randomeness in the resulting types is annoying as is the inability to rename the resulting powerup since I like to label mine so quality is readily apparent to people browsing the bazaar.

As far as pricing goes, it does vary by server and planet. Naboo/Lowca has ready access to high quality materials, so there is a good supply of powerups with 92% effectiveness.

I've been charging 600 credits for powerups that give 10% in one stat and 20% in the other and been having no problem selling them. I'm sure when I start getting 15% and 30% power-ups I won't have a problem selling them for 1500-200credits aswell.

i've been able to sell a few powerups for 500 each. those were typically granting a boost of 22-25% to min or max damage. as for people only caring about range, speed, and damage, that may be true now (early on) but i think that as the game progresses and people get better weapons that will change.

for instance, i recently bought a dh17 carbine and the special move cost for health is 51, action is 59, mind is 42. i make powerups, so when i craft one that reduces action pool cost by 20% i keep it for myself or charge a bundle for it. i imagine that higher power weapons will have even higher costs for special moves so the market for powerups that decrease those costs is sure to expand. i also think that powerups that boost min damage are slightly more valuable than max damage simply because for those 100 uses you are guaranteed to do more damage each time you pull the trigger.

as far as a pricing structure goes, i don't typically have a formula. i have a general idea of how much i can ask based on past experience and stats. i have yet to retrieve a powerup that was on the bazaar for 7 days and did not sell. someone out there is willing to buy, the biggest challenge is will they have the patience to wade through 50-100 powerups that boost stats by 3% to find the good ones that are for sale.

I think 300cr would be the most I'd pay for a maxxed out powerup, and even then I might not bother. 100 shots goes really really fast, plus they wear you weapon down faster. If you have an expensive high quality weapon I wouldn't bother with powerups at all, unless you have a ton of money and easy access to more good weapons.

Hi all Master Goodwrench here,..

On the subject of pricing ,.. it is an odd thing as some ppl will charge 2x for dmg max stat increases and such but in reality they offer no greater true value over the other types save one,... ppl undersatnd the dmg stat ,.. how many times have youseen the guy with the high dmg stat but huge ham cost and slow gun pass right by a weapon that is 2 or even in some cases 2.5 times better in total effectivness simply becuase he only looks at one number ,.. dmg ,.. !

As for myself i prefer to price all 10 cd a % and do not chrge extra for dmg add over any other type.

as well try offering free tutoring in power ups that is to say explain what they can help with , a person might see a wound 33% increase power up and have no idea that it does dmg after the intial shot ( bleeding) and walk right by it ,.. on the other hand the guy in the above example has plenty of dmg score on his gun ,.. but a simple attchment of a ham reducing /speed reducing power up would make his slow heavy weapon much more effective,.. in closeing i would say simply help you customer undrestand that dependant on gun type and style of play ANY of the powerups can be used to equal effectivness ,.. lets say it is a range increase power up for example ,.. dmg is base but you get more shots at greater acuruacy before the target closes if you are a sniper this is extreamly effective, especialy when teamed up with the second gun configured wth a close combat power up ! the set up on the guns are as varied and complex as the playign styles of your customers, Understand how they fight and you can beter service their needs.

Goodwrench is right, the reason I always sell out of the damage and speed ones is because those stats are easily noticed and understandable. I think when people as a whole learn more about that game, we'll see more other types of powerups in demand. Another factor that will change things is when PvP becomes more prevalant. I think stuff like bleeding will become more important, as well as things like food buffs, since people will want every advantage possible.
