Thread: Powerup Pricing
Heh, I have just spent the last couple of days selling 32% max-damage power ups for 100cr DOH =S
Getting the price right is hard if your selling on your own vendor, since you get a lower amount of people visiting (than on the bazzar)
Fingers crossed that the whole "practice" principle will improve the quality and prices of pretty much everything on the bazaar.
I'm on the Valcyn server, on Corellia, in Coronet. The best I can hope for with my power ups is 10cr per % point of improvement. I've been going around buying up powerups that are selling for less than what I would charge for them (i.e, a +29% powerup selling for 150) and reselling them using my pricing scheme (i.e, +29% powerup for 290cr). Then I email the manufacturer of that powerup and tell them of my pricing scheme. They are usually surprised that they could get that much for their powerups.
I sell my own all the time using that scheme. I usually sell at least 36 every 12 hours or so...so I turn a decent profit.
I recommend everyone use this pricing scheme as a MINIMUM price to charge. Coronet is so crowded here that I don't think I get much more than what I am charging now, but in other places, who knows?
Good luck and have fun!
Great thread!
I am on Naritus server, Coronet city, I have been playing for about 1 week, and I have sold probably 25 - 50 powerups. I have sold them from 50 to 600 credits, though I must admit only a few days ago I realized how important the stats were to selling them.
There is no set price on these things. Look at what is selling in the bazaar and for how much. I write down the name and price and item of every item I sell. I noticed yesterday that one person had bought more than one of my scopes, so I messaged him and asked how he liked them and also how he went about sifting through them all in the bazaar. He told me that he goes through all of them (for ranged weapons), looking at stats and picks the best one. My feeling is that some of the warrior-types are fairly wealthy from missions and don't mind dropping 500 credits for a decent powerup. The best ones I make usually only end up giving +5 - +15 % on wound damage, min or max damage, etc. The great thing about selling these powerups is, for 10 resources you can get 500 credits: think about it, that is 50 credits / ! resource! Yes, I know that you have to craft them and it may take a while to get a good one, but my strategy is this: If I experiment and get great or amazing success, I will craft the prototype and then inspect it to see if it is any good. If I don't get good success experimenting, I just check the practice box and get another point of XP.
Play around with it. Make a good powerup (good for you, as good as you can make), then put it on the bazaar for 200 credits. If it sells, make another and try 300. If it sells, do 400. Etc.
Happy crafting!

So many grinders give them away though...
Grinders are not concerned with putting out quality power-ups though... So if they want to give them away, then end-user is not getting a good product. Soon as he/she sees one of my power-ups that increased max damage by 15% and min damage by 30%, they'll start paying real quick.

I've been charging 600 credits for powerups that give 10% in one stat and 20% in the other and been having no problem selling them. I'm sure when I start getting 15% and 30% power-ups I won't have a problem selling them for 1500-200credits aswell.
Holy crap! I will be the first to say you overprice your units and if people are suckers enough to buy them, more power to you. But look at your example. 10 units of materials and you're charging anywhere from 150-200 cr. per unit in the end result... Way too overpriced.
I actually feel guilty selling them for 450 a piece and I actually DO get them to the 30/15 range.
I have been charging between 400cr and 500cr for my 20% to 30% powerups. I dont even bother with powerups that are lower on the bazaar since you can only sell up to 25 items. I make a judgement call from what people are paying and what i would pay for it.
They are flying off of the shelves, and I think it also helps people find my itmes since they can sort the items by price and jump down to mine. Who wants a +0.08889% powerup for 50cr?
